“No U-Turn On Ibadan Convention”, PDP Natl Chairman Dares Wike, Fayose, Others

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has reaffirmed there will be no reversal on the party’s national convention slated for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He made the declaration on Tuesday at the inauguration of the 110-member National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) in Abuja.

“As you know, the 2025 National Convention is scheduled to be held in Ibadan, and that is sacrosanct,” Damagum told party leaders and members.

The NCOC is chaired by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as vice chairman, while Governor Peter Mbah was named secretary.

Charging the committee to deliver a seamless event, Damagum urged members to be guided by “fairness, equity, justice, and unity of purpose,” asking them to set aside personal grievances and focus on rebuilding public trust. He said the convention should demonstrate that the PDP “remains the vanguard of democracy and the blueprint for due process,” and reassure members that the party “belongs to all.”

The inauguration took place at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, following approval by the National Executive Committee (NEC). Nigeria’s main opposition party will hold the convention in the South-Western state of Oyo.
