The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained well-known Ibadan Mogaji Jelili Adekunle Kareem, popularly known as Adanla for an alleged financial scam involving over 100 million Naira.

The Ibadan chief, who is also the Turaki Adini of Oyo state, was detained today and is presently the subject of an EFCC probe at Iyaganku.

According to information available to ODUDUWA NEWS, Saheed Osupa, a Fuji musician who serves as the brand ambassador for Afia Homes, the real estate development engaged in the financial swindle, is also likely to be invited for questioning.

It was also revealed that this Ibadan chief, who would be charged before the week, defrauded renowned sons and daughters of Oyo State of their hard-earned money.

The Oyo State Government has reinstated 129 public primary school teachers, unlawfully sacked by the previous administration.

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran stated this today, while congratulating the teachers.

He said the Executive Council of Oyo State has approved that a total of 129 officers wrongly dismissed by the Oyo State Government between 2011 and 2019 for reinstatement, subject to agreeing not to demand for arrears payment for the period they were away which the state converted to leave of absence.

Adeniran appreciated the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his kindness and selfless consideration in administrating the Pacesetter State.

He noted that the recent reinstatement of the state’s 129 school teachers who were fired by the previous administration, is a symbolic achievement that cannot be neglected.

“This is a plus for the education sector. Apart from being an addition to the dwindling number of teachers in the public primary sector, thousands of family dependents who have been subjected to untold economic hardship due to the layoff of their breadwinners will now have a new lease of life”, Adeniran said.

Adeniran therefore called on teachers in the state to reciprocate Makinde’s gesture, through commitment to duties and redoubling their dedication to work.

He also called on them to key into the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration’s goal to change the narratives in the education sector of the state.

Scammers in Ado-Ekiti may now be finding it difficult to perform their scamming enterprise as security operatives are now hunting them.

Ado-Ekiti, lately, seemed to be the headquarters of the scammers in the state as the people in the heartless business have increased in number.

In July 23, one Odunayo Apejuwa was nabbed and taken to the headquarters of Amontekun in Ado-Ekiti. His style of the scamming game is to appear in the house or before his innocent victims and start to threaten them while demanding for money or their belongings.

According to one of his victims who craved anonymity, “He would claim to have come from the house of a popular Chief in Ado and threaten to unleash terror if his victims fail to make his demand available

“He would say he is a member of a secrete society and that he’s is well known by the people including the police.”

He was nabbed in the act.

Recall that the ex-governor was attacked during the 2018 Ekiti state governorship election. He attended one of the rallies with a neck collar and wept saying he was in severe pains.

His brother, Isaac, who shared video and photos from his hospital bed, said the former governor has undergone two major surgical operations within five months, one on his neck which happened in February and another one for his back.

Isaac stated that the injuries were resulted to from the attack on him during the 2018 Ekiti governorship election.

Due to technological issues, the Cultural Creative Art and Arabic Language Subjects of the current Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) have been canceled by the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

However, the Ministry declared that the previously written cultural creative art and Arabic language subjects would be revised.

The declaration was made on Tuesday while Barr Abdulraheem Abdulrahman, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, was observing the BECE in five local governments in the Ibadan Metropolitan Area.

Over 150,000 students are now taking the continuing BECE across the state, according to the Commissioner, who praised the compliance of the schools visited for adhering to the rules and regulations of the Final Examinations.

According to him, 178 Students were present in the examination hall at Orogun grammar School while at Isabatudeen Girls’ Grammar school, there were 125 students during the monitoring.

Barr Abdulrahman added that the state Ministry of Education will review the teaching patterns of teachers in Public schools across the state to improve the knowledge of the students.

The entourage also used the opportunity to monitor the ongoing National Examination Council Examination (NECO) in some Schools.

Other schools visited by the entourage include Islamic High School, Basorun and some private schools, all in Ibadan metropolis.

On the entourage of the state Commissioner for education was the Permanent Secretary Mrs Christiana Abioye and other senior staff of the state Ministry.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, as the substantive CJN.

This is contained in a letter from the president read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, at plenary.

Buhari said his letter was pursuant to Section One (1) of the Constitution of Nigeria
