The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency, or OYSHIA, has been ordered to stop charging all applicants who are interested in applying for a position in its ongoing recruiting process an application fee of N2,000 by the Oyo State government.
This choice was made in accordance with the Oyo State government’s aim of ensuring the comfort of all of its residents.
When asked why the application fee was added, OYSHIA’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Olusola Akande, said during a radio interview programme in Ibadan that it was not intended to take advantage of applicants or be a quick source of income because the portal would be shut down as soon as 50 doctors submitted their applications.
“We did not mean to exploit applicants. The ADM FEE, which has now been cancelled, was for logistics purposes”
He further explained that the recruited doctors will work at OYSHIA accredited public and private facilities on a contract basis and that the employment is not into the mainstream of Oyo State Civil Service and the doctors shall be paid from capitations to the hospitals.
When asked why the recruitment, the Executive Secretary explained that OYSHIA had always been having doctors in their accredited hospitals as this is part of contractual agreement of enrolees. However, many doctors have relocated abroad, and some have taken more permanent jobs.
He also stressed the need for each agency of the government to add to whatever the government has done to deliver services to the people. He added that OYSHIA recruitment effort is her way of contributing to the staffing of the newly renovated PHCs by Oyo State government.
“Since it has become a trending issue on social media, once we are done with the recruitment, we will give feedback on the number of doctors we enrolled and the various faculties they are posted to, he pledged”. Meanwhile, the Oyo State government has overridden the application fee, and applicants can now register without paying the application fee, as the agency is set to accept only 50 applications.
In a letter obtained by ODUDUWA NEWS, the EFCC had asked the Clerk to provide information on all budget appropriations and allocations of the House from May 30, 2015, till date.
“The Speaker and others are under probe for different allegations. The first one is financial misappropriation. About N85,000,000 monthly for running cost of the Assembly cannot be accounted for since June 2019 till date by Mr Speaker and the Clerk, the approving officer and accounting officer respectively,” a lawmaker had told ODUDUWA NEWS.
“This led to a rift between the Speaker and the recently impeached Deputy Speaker after the latter demanded accountability and transparency. Even doing Covid-19 lockdown, running costs such as local/international travel, cost for fuelling the generator were diverted to private accounts.
“Diversion of constituency allowance funds (each member of the 8th Assembly collected N20,000,000 twice between 2015-2019. Most of the retired receipts were forged and fictitious pictures of porputed ghost projects were filed by members. The current Speaker and 3 other current members were part of the 8th Assembly under investigation. A current Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun state who also has a school certificate scandal case over him, was part of the 8th Assembly under the EFCC radar.
“Forgery of Financial Bills (i-The House passed a resolution to approve only N75 billion Bond for the State Government sometime in June 2020, but Speaker secretly falsified the content of the resolution letter in favour of the Executive, changed it to N200 billion after members had already passed and signed resolution for just N75 billion on the floor of the House before the camera.
“Speaker falsified some contents {S.7(4)} of Ogun State Legislative Funds Management Bill, after passage, for personal/selfish grounds. After the passage on the floor of the House, he falsified the contents in his favour before sending a clean copy to the Government for assent.
“Speaker in connivance with Mr Clerk, also falsified the current Standing Order of the House before the commencement of the 9th Assembly, to favour his election as the Speaker and disqualified others to contest, amongst other contents.”
Some Residents of Ekiti State have condemned the physical assault on a popular Nigerian gospel singer, Mr Yinka Ayefele by an operative of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Ayefele was said to have been punched on his lips by a yet to be identified officer during an altercation between them.
Sources told journalists in Ado Ekiti, that the security agent also threatened to shoot the Ipoti Ekiti born singer after resisting his forceful attempt to take money from Ayefele’s car.
One of the eyewitnesses said, ” The incident occurred in Iloro Ekiti, where he (Ayefele) came to entertain guests at an event. The officer had made an attempt to take money from his car but when Ayefele resisted him, he thereafter punched the singer in the mouth.
“When the singer called his security detail to stop him he also threatened him before the intervention of his colleagues.
“This assault on the highly respected music producer is condemnable, the matter should be investigated and the justice served”.
When contacted, Mr Ayefele confirmed the physical assault on him by the NSCDC officer.
The founder of Fresh FM Nigeria said, “I was moving out in my car after entertaining guest, the officer suddenly dipped his hand into my car to take my money but I resisted him and told him what he did is very wrong.
“That was how he gave me a punch on my mouth, I had cut on my lips and blood started gushing out. When I call my security detail to hold him, he stood at the front of my car corking his riffle and threatening to shoot me.
“At that point, his colleagues came and I explained what he did to them. Why trying to shield him, they said why am I fighting them, that I am a public figure and I don’t want to give them something? I said if didn’t want to give him something, I wouldn’t have stopped, wound down my car. I have settled the area boys and others. I wept profusely, because they did this to me because I am physically challenged.
The Lagos State Government has announced that traffic will be diverted at Ijora with effect from Friday, September 2, 2022, to Sunday, September 4, 2022.
The traffic diversion on that axis followed a notification from the Federal Ministry of Works on the Ijora Eastlink/Causeway project.
This disclosure is contained in a statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde.
Oladeinde in the statement assured the motoring public of efficient traffic management by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) along the affected routes.
He explained that motorists will be diverted into the National Theatre to access Ijora and Costain as the flexible pavement linking Eko Bridge will be under refurbishment.
Oladeinde encouraged the citizenry to cooperate with the Government to minimise inconveniences, adding that the ongoing projects across the State are geared towards creating and maintaining an efficient transportation system.
The presidential flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Tuesday night met with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja as part of his move to secure support of the stakeholders across the country.
The APC presidential candidate was accompanied by his running mate, Senator Kassim Shetimma and five APC governors.
The brief meeting which was held at the residence of former President Jonathan gave the leaders the opportunity to discuss various national issues and the forthcoming general election.
Details of their meeting were not made public.
Breezing out of the meeting Asiwaju simply said, he was on a courtesy visit to the former President being a former leader and one of the critical stakeholders in the Nigerian project. He also said he told him of his presidential ambition and to seek the support of his host.
Those on the entourage of Tinubu include his running mate, Shetimma, the director-general of his campaign council and governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, Ogun state governor, and Dapo Abiodun, Zamfara State governor. Bello Matawale, Jigawa State governor, Abubakar Badaru and their Kwara State counterpart AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
A source at the meeting said the meeting was part of efforts by the APC standard bearer to get the buying in of all critical stakeholders to his presidential ambition.
According to the source: “Truly, he (Jonathan) is at home with us. He was very receptive to us. You know the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no longer accorded him that respect. He is more comfortable with us. He was happy that Asiwaju visited him. He is at home with his aspirations.”
On Tuesday afternoon, a car accident occurred in front of the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, off the Oyo-Ogbomoso/Ilorin Expressway leaving no fewer than seventeen people with severe injuries.

An eye witness who spoke under condition of annonymity also alluded to the fact that several people were injured, “around seventeen victims were documented at the scene, among them two had their legs crushed in half, another victim’s leg was broken and people couldn’t find him anywhere, while others had various wounds.”
As at the time of filing this report, the Federal Road Safety Corps had swung into action and had begun transferring the victims to nearest hospital for treatment.
An Appeal Court has dismissed the N20 billion damages claim by self-styled Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Igboho against the Department of State Security (DSS).
Recall a judgement was made after the attack on the home of Yoruba nation agitator Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, where N20bn damages claim was awarded. However, the judgement was was overturned on Tuesday by the Ibadan Division of the Court of Appeal.
In his ruling, Justice Muslim Hassan stated that the Oyo State High Court lacked jurisdiction over the case and that the judge shouldn’t have determined the appropriate amount of damages based on his own preference.
The contractor handling the Moniya-Iseyin road has begun repair works on the flooded section of the road on Monday, as instructed by the State government after the heavy downpour that led to the rising of rivers along the route.
Recall, the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has raised concern on the dilapidated part of the road, claiming he has been vindicated on his position that the road was poorly constructed.
In a statement made available by the Oyo State Commissioner of Information, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun obtained by ODUDUWA NEWS as read in part:
“The step was as a result of complaints from motorists plying the road, whose movements were restricted by the flood that crossed the road, which prompted the officials of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to embark on an immediate inspection tour to the area to assess the level of damage on the affected area.
“The road which was commissioned by May 2021 has been a relief to the people of Oke-Ogun and its environs as it has afforded them the opportunity to travel within less period from Ibadan to Iseyin, as different from the situation before the reconstruction.
While addressing newsmen during the inspection at chinage 47.750km of the road, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Professor Dahud Kehinde Sangodoyin made it known that the cause of the damages was a result of the continuous heavy rain due to climate change and that It was not particular to only Oyo State, but all over the world.
The Commissioner explained that “we were informed that during the heavy downpour on Thursday and Friday, there were some issues as the water overflew and caused some damages by the side road, we are here to examine and assess what happened and what can be done.
“The first thing discovered is the overflow because the culverts there have been sealed up by mud, then the chainage that should be able to address the free flow of water has a problem on the other side of the road, it is not new because there is climate change all over the world, so we should prepare for it, not only in Oyo State but Nigeria as a whole.
“Work will start on it today, on the right-hand side, the channelization and on the left-hand side, retaining the walls and shifting of the culvert, in the long term, during the dry season, if we find out from weather forecast that we will have a heavy rainfall like this next year we will have to change the size of the culvert.
“The Consultant and the Contractor are with me to assess it together and we found out that it is not a serious issue but climate change that is affecting everybody all over the world, including vegetation and other things.
“I have instructed the contractor to mobilize their machine immediately so that the work can start on the channelization and to retain the wall and I can assure you that the work will start before we finish the inspection, I am assuring our people that our road is intact as it was when commissioned last year, the only damage there is on the shoulder and from today, work will start on it so that it will not hit on the road.”
The team also extended the inspection to the ongoing construction of Iseyin-Ogbomoso-Fapote road to see the progress of the project, where the Commissioner told reporters that the project would be completed by January 2023.
“They have completed the bridge around the chainage 16.0km and we are at chainage 6.0km at the culvert which is 3 by 3, as it is now, the earthwork is almost completed up to chainage 16km, the line drain is almost completed also, they have started to put the stone base from the spur which is 2km and I have advised them to put in more effort so that the contract can be completed in January 2023, as you can see, they have completed about 20% of the job at chainage 6.0km and 32.2% of job at Ogbomoso-Fapote as of last week Monday.”
Professor Sangodoyin said that the slow pace of work is due to the persistent rainfall and that the work would be faster during the dry season with proper supervision because the Government has done its part.
Buttressing the words of the Commissioner, the Consultant to the Governor on Moniya-Iseyin-Ogbomoso road construction, Engr. Wale Lagunju explained that the team has assessed the whole situation and discovered that the pavement at the flooded section of the Moniya-Iseyin road was still intact but there was need for remedial works and the Contractor has been instructed to start work immediately to make sure that the pavement does not fail so that the traffic flow would not be affected.
The Project Manager of the Construction Company, KOPEC Construction Limited, Engr Aymanza Zakhour revealed that despite what has happened, the road is still intact because the work was done with standard specification, adding that he has instructed his men to report to the construction site with machines to start the repair immediately and assured the citizenry that the work will finish in no time.
