Traffic Robbery Has Dropped to Zero in Lagos – CP Jimoh

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, has declared that traffic robbery is no longer a threat in the state, attributing the development to strategic policing tactics adopted by the command.

Jimoh made the claim during an interview with Oduduwa News, stating that the deployment of unmarked patrol vehicles has significantly curtailed criminal activities, particularly robberies that occur in traffic.

According to the police boss, while conventional patrol vehicles remain in use and are clearly marked for visibility and accountability, unmarked vehicles have proven more effective in tackling criminals who often evade detection.

He explained that suspected criminals typically go into hiding whenever they sight branded police vehicles, only to resurface once officers leave the area. However, the use of unmarked vehicles allows operatives to approach crime scenes discreetly and apprehend offenders without raising suspicion.

“Many people will attest to it that traffic robbery has gone to zero in Lagos. It is because of these unmarked vehicles,” Jimoh said.

The commissioner further revealed that officers sometimes deploy covert tactics, including disguising themselves as stranded motorists, to lure and arrest criminals who target broken-down vehicles on the road.

He emphasized that this strategy has not only improved response time but also enhanced the ability of officers to safeguard lives and carry out investigations effectively.

Jimoh assured residents that the Lagos State Police Command remains committed to sustaining the current level of security and will continue to adopt innovative methods to combat crime across the state.
