Fear has gripped residents of Igbojaye farm settlement in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State following the reported killing of a farmer by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The victim, identified by community sources as “Jeje,” was reportedly attacked while working on his farm and allegedly macheted repeatedly by the attackers until he died from his injuries.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on August 18, is said to be the latest in a series of attacks allegedly targeting farmers in the area within the past two months.
According to information from the community, a farmer was allegedly attacked and wounded on June 28, while another farmer reportedly escaped a similar attack on August 17, a day before the latest killing.

The recurrence of the incidents has reportedly heightened fear among farmers in Igbojaye and surrounding farm settlements, with some residents now concerned about going to their farms.
Community members fear that the attacks could threaten agricultural activities and livelihoods in the area if urgent security measures are not put in place.
They are therefore calling on the Oyo State Government and security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps and the Department of State Services, to urgently investigate the incidents, identify and arrest the perpetrators, and increase security patrols around vulnerable farm settlements.
The residents also appealed to traditional rulers, local government authorities, farmers’ representatives and herder leadership to engage in urgent dialogue to prevent further attacks and possible reprisals.
The latest incident has further heightened concerns over the safety of rural communities in Itesiwaju LGA, with residents urging authorities to take immediate action to restore confidence and protect farmers during the farming season.

The report is based on information obtained from community sources. The identity of the perpetrators and other details of the incident are yet to be independently confirmed by security authorities.
