The Oyo State Government has reinforced its ban on mobile phones, smartwatches, and meta eyeglasses in schools, particularly during examinations.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, made this known on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan.
Addressing permanent secretaries, inspectors of education, and department heads, he stressed the need for discipline and examination integrity.
Olayiwola reminded the gathering that an official circular already bars students from bringing mobile phones into school and exam halls.
He added that devices like smartwatches and meta eyeglasses are also banned due to their potential to aid examination malpractice.
The commissioner directed school authorities to enforce the rule strictly and without exception.
He also urged parents and teachers to monitor students closely and support efforts to uphold the credibility of the state’s education system.
