The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 46-year-old businessman, Akinbolusere Kayode, popularly known as Tolufe, who was found lifeless in his office in Igba Town on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
According to police reports, officers from the Bolorunduro Division responded to the incident and recovered two empty bottles suspected to have contained insecticide from a nearby bush.
Preliminary investigations also revealed that the deceased allegedly recorded a video before his death, in which he spoke about personal challenges and difficulties affecting his business.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Kayode’s remains have been deposited at the State Hospital Morgue for further examination.
While suicide is being considered as a possible explanation, the police have cautioned members of the public against drawing premature conclusions until investigations are concluded.
The tragic incident serves as a reminder that many people face personal, emotional and financial struggles that may not be visible to others.
