The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has today received certificates of operations from National University Commission NUC.
This was contained in a statement made available to Newsmen today as read in part:
” It was indeed a memorable and a historic day today, as the National Universities Commission (NUC), gave Lagos State, clearance certificates of operations for the two newly approved state-owned universities.
“The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Ijanikin and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUST), Ikorodu, will now be on the same pedestal as the Lagos state University (LASU) thirty nine years after it was established.
“I hereby commend the NUC for granting us the operational certificates, and the speaker of Lagos state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and state lawmakers for working with the executive arms of Government towards the passage of the law setting up the two universities. I also appreciate the leadership of the two universities for their understanding and cooperation.
“The creation of these universities is not about being ambitious, but doing what is proper for the people of Lagos State.
“It is about the future of our citizens. It is about the future of our youths, who truly believe in us to do the right thing. It is about our commitment to taking tertiary education to a level that all of us would be proud of. It is about ensuring that we give hope and opportunity to our teeming youths who believe in us to do the right thing”.
