A woman who boarded a boat from Igando in Lagos State to Ogun has allegedly jumped into the river from the moving boat, the police have said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday evening, said that rescue teams were already searching for the woman.
Hundeyin said that one Rasaq reported the case to the Igando Police Division on Sunday at about 8.00 a.m. According to Rasaq, at about 10.00 p.m. on Saturday, one Folashade Nimotalahi, of yet be known address, boarded a boat from their Isuti Jet, Isuti Road, Igando in Lagos, going to Totowu in Ogun.
“They were 12 passengers on board. Suddenly, the woman removed the life jacket she was wearing and jumped into the river.
“She left behind one nylon bag containing a bottle of sniper, Alimosho General Hospital cards and some drugs,” the spokesperson quoted Rasaq as saying in his report.
Hundeyin said that the scene of incident was visited immediately by detectives from the division. He said a search party has been contacted to recover the corpse, while investigation was ongoing as they make efforts to contact the family.

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for presenting 28 New Buses to students union bodies of tertiary institutions in the State.
The Speaker described the Governor’s gesture as another confirmation of his continuous support for the growth of education and students at all levels.

It was learnt that the incident might be related to kidnap for ritual purpose, as age-long belief held that albinos were used for money ritual.
A teacher of the same school who craved anonymity called for concerted effort by the police and local vigilante for immediate search of the forest body at Alabata area of the Iseyin-Moniya road, so the victim may be rescued.
”We are pleading that the vigilante group and police men be dispatched to the forest around Alabata to search for him before anything untoward happen to him,” he pleaded.
The Oyo State House of Assembly is set to repeal the law establishing the First Technical University, Ibadan.
This is to reflect the recent change in the name of the University by Governor Seyi Makinde to Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan.
The repeal was contained in a letter forwarded to the House by Governor Seyi Makinde and read at plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
The letter reads ” This administration has observed the need to repeal the First Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State Law, 2021 and enact a new law to reflect the University’s well deserved renaming from First Technical University, Ibadan to Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan. This is also to ensure its governance structures are in line with other State owned Institutions.”
Recall that the First Technical University, Ibadan was established by late Governor Abiola Ajimobi in 2017.
Oyo State Government has given seven days ultimatum to occupants and owners of illegally erected kiosks, containers, shanties and business operations to vacate the road sides or face the full wrath of the law.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abdulmojeed Mogbojuola, gave this ultimatum on Tuesday during his visit to Ojoo community in the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.
Mogbojubola, who said their activities have been constituting nuisance to public health, added that “the act has been causing unwarranted obstruction of free flow of traffic, passers by and vehicles” contrary to the Environmental Sanitation Regulation, 2013.
“Illegal operations should be halted, especially, on the road sides and drainages occupied by the individuals. And you must vacant this place in seven days.”.
He, therefore, advised that business activities should be relocated to more suitable places meant for them in the neighborhood markets.
This, he said, would curb road accidents and loss of lives and property
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has revoked the licenses of 4,173 Bureaux De Change Operators.
According to the apex bank, the affected institutions failed to observe regulatory provisions.
These, according to the bank, include payment of all necessary fees, including licence renewal, within the stipulated period in line with Guidelines, rendition of returns in line with the Guidelines, and compliance with guidelines, directives and circulars of the CBN, particularly Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Counter-Proliferation Financing (CPF) regulations.
This was made known in a statement by Sidi Ali, Hakama, the Acting Director, Corporate Communications.
CBN said the action is in exercise of the powers conferred on it under the Bank and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020, Act No. 5, and the Revised Operational Guidelines for Bureaux De Change 2015 (the Guidelines).

As part of efforts to increase food production and reduce food inflation in Oyo state, Governor Seyi Makinde has announced the suspension of revenue collection on farm produce for the next six months, instead the collectors would be deployed to the state borders to collect revenue from those who are taking produce out of the State.
Governor Makinde made disclosure during a special food Stakeholders’ meeting held with relevant stakeholders at the Fasola Farms Estate in Oyo West Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor who reeled out various interventions his administration had embarked upon to cushion the effect of subsidy removal, through the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) initiative, announced some other measures to ameliorate high-cost farm produce in the state.
Among top strategies as announced by Governor Makinde, were the liberalization of the conditions to access the state Agric Loan from the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS) by the farmers, the release of a sum of Six hundred Million Naira to ACCOS for farmers to clear hectares of land at a subsidized rate of 15 thousand Naira, noting that the six hundred million Naira would be able to clear up to 120,000 hectares of land when fully implemented.
In their various remarks, some stakeholders who lauded Governor Makinde for being sensitive to farmer’s needs, identified farmers-herders’ problem, high cost of herbicides, unavailability of tractors for bush clearing and ploughing, insecurity, among others as the major challenges facing the farmers in the state.
They charged him to liberalize the conditions of getting the Agric loan from the state government.
