K1 De Ultimate hits back at former drummer’s allegations of maltreating his band members
K1 De Ultimate has vehemently retaliated against grave accusations raised by his former and longtime drummer, Kunle Ayanlowo.
In a candid interview, Ayanlowo laid bare the extensive period of hardship endured alongside fellow bandmates while working for KWAM 1.
Nigerian Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde, famously dubbed Kwam1 or K1, has finally broken his silence regarding the allegations of mistreatment brought forth by his former drummer, Kunle Ayanlowo.
Oduduwa News reported days back that Kunle in a candid interview, exposed the harsh treatment endured while working alongside K1, painted a picture of alleged exploitation and control.
He stated in an interview that K1 treated him and other band members as slaves. Kunle described instances where K1 reportedly confiscated their passports upon returning to Nigeria, exercised dominance over their movements.
Kunle recounted a distressing incident where he claimed Kwam 1 forced him to forgo urgent medical attention. He expressed ongoing health concerns stemming from that event, Kunle urged Nigerians to hold K1 accountable should any harm befall him.
Responding in his distinctive musical style on Instagram, Kwam1 directly addressed the allegations, seemingly asked Kunle to desist from spreading falsehoods and cautioning against the influence of dishonest individuals in his circle.
He highlighted his role in Kunle’s rise from obscurity, expressed disappointment at what he perceived as an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
His words, translated from Yoruba to English;
“Lairs and naysayers get away from me, stop lying. Trying to damage the reputation that raised you when you were a nobody. Disassociate from liars, you have nothing to gain from them”.
Nigeria’s inflation rate rose to 31.70 per cent in February from 29.90 per cent recorded in January 2024.
This figure indicates an increase of 1.80 per cent, the National Bureau of Statistics said in its latest CPI and inflation report released on Friday.
This indicates that in February 2024, the rate of increase in the average price level was more than the rate of increase in the average price level in January 2024.
The report read, “In February 2024, the headline inflation rate increased to 31.70 per cent relative to the January 2024 headline inflation rate which was 29.90 per cent.”
Comparatively, on an annual basis, February 2024’s inflation rate was 9.79 per cent higher than the 21.91 per cent recorded in February 2023.
Also, the month-on-month headline inflation rate in February 2024 reached 3.12%, an increase of 0.48% from January 2024’s rate of 2.64%.
This indicates that the pace at which average prices rose in February 2024 exceeded the rate of price increase in January 2024
The NBS further stated, “Looking at the movement, the February 2024 headline inflation rate showed an increase of 1.80 percent points when compared to the January 2024 headline inflation rate. On a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 9.79 percent points higher compared to the rate recorded in February 2023, which was 21.91 percent.
The self-style activist, Chief Sunday Igboho has reacted to statement credited to Aare Onankankanfo, Iba Gani Adams allegedly linking him to the murder of late Chief Bola Ige.
This was contained in a statement made available to Oduduwa News by his Spokesman, Olayomi Koiki as reproduced below:
PRESS RELEASE
I did not take part in killing Chief Bola Ige…
I welcome you all to this press press briefing.
It becomes necessary to hold this meeting because of the issues raised by the voice notes going around on social media.
In the voice note released by Aare Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo, said things that attacked my character.
He said a lot of wrong and bad things against me. He mentioned the names of the Nigeria President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and some other notable persons in Yoruba land.
In the said note, Aare Gani Adams said I was involved in the killing of the late Chief Bola Ige, SAN. Everyone will still remember the circumstances of the death of Chief Bola Ige who was the Minister of Justice at the time he was brutally murdered.
It goes without saying that no one or evidence has ever connected me to his death until this frivolities, malicious and highly scandalous by Aare Gani Adams.
I want to categorically state that I knew nothing about the killing and death of Chief Bola Ige. Chief Bola Ige died in Ibadan on 23 December 2001 and by newspaper and police reports, one Fryo was charged with the murder.
In that year, I was engaged in the settlement of Ife-Modakeke war. I can also remember that it was the same year Aare Gani Adams was imprisoned in Lagos when he was charged with murder and public disturbance arising out of inter-communal violence in Lagos in 2002, and the law firm of late Chief Gani Fawehinmi represented and got bail for him at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos.
I challenge Gani Adams to come forward and prove his assertions.
He claimed one Tayo Ayinde gave me money at his Ikeja Hotel on behalf of Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu, who is now the Nigeria President.
I want to state that I did not go to any hotel in Lagos State to collect money from anyone relating to Asiwaju Bola Hamed Tinubu since he became the President.
Unlike what Gani Adams’ said in his voice note, I was never charged to court for murder, nor did I kill anyone to warrant my being charged to court.
The voice note showed the mind that has serious malice against my personality. It is on record that despite my respect for his position as Oyo Chief, the media is full of many bad things he said about me in the past.
Finally, i need not remind the Omoluabi Yoruba that i have the same tribal marks on my face as the late Alafin Adeyemi, Omo Oba ni mi.
I am not contesting Aare Gani Adams position.
Nje asiko kò ti ito fun Aare lati dagunro. Yoruba Nation needs unity at this dangerous moment, not ote ati Ilara.
I leave this allegation to the court of public opinion. Even though my initial reaction was to sue him, but i was advised to take it as Iti Ogede ti kose yo Ada si ni asiko ti Ile Yoruba wa ninu Ewu.
President Tinubu has ordered Nigerian Army to fish out perpetrators of heinous attacks that claimed no fewer than 16 personnel.
This was contained in a statement made available available by the President via his Twitter handle as read in part:
“On Saturday morning, the Nigerian people and I woke up to the dreadful news of the unprovoked killing of our brave military personnel during a rescue mission in Okuama Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
“The incident occurred on Thursday, March 14, 2024, when our troops, responding to a crisis between Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State, were ambushed. A Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, and twelve soldiers sadly lost their lives. One civilian was also killed.
“As the Commander-in-Chief, I join all well-meaning Nigerians and the men and women of our armed forces to mourn and express my profound grief over the needless death of our gallant soldiers.
“I extend my profound condolences to the families of these fallen soldiers, their colleagues, and their loved ones. The military high command is already responding to this incident. The cowardly offenders responsible for this heinous crime will not go unpunished.
“This incident, once again, demonstrates the dangers faced by our servicemen and women in the line of duty. I salute their heroism, courage, and uncommon grit and patriotism.
“As a nation, we must constantly remember and honour all those who have paid the ultimate price to keep our nation safe, strong, and united. The officers and men who died in Okuama community have joined the pantheon of great men and women who gave their all, with honour, in the service of our fatherland.
“Members of our armed forces are at the heart and core of our nationhood. Any attack on them is a direct attack on our nation. We will not accept this wicked act.
“The Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff have been granted full authority to bring to justice anybody found to have been responsible for this unconscionable crime against the Nigerian people.
My government will not relent until we achieve peace and tranquillity in every part of Nigeria.
May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and keep members of our armed forces safe”.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has raised the alarm over impending security threats in the state which will involve abductions in schools in rural communities.
Adeleke, who revealed this during a meeting of the state security council, however, announced major security reforms.
According to a statement by Adeleke’s spokesman, Malam Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo the state capital, intelligence available to the governor showed deliberate mobilisation of criminal elements into the rural areas of the state.
“It has further emerged that schools are being targeted with kidnappings and attacks as a way of diverting attention from the implementation of the Safe Schools Initiative and the multi-billion naira infrastructure plan,” the statement read in part.
Adeleke said interim directives had been issued to school authorities to take precautionary measures to enhance the safety of pupils and students.
The Council of Ibarapa Students Stakeholders have condemned what they described as power intoxication by the Oyo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Wasila Adegoke for her failure to ensure the donation of bus to the indigenous student association.
This was contained in a statement made available to ODUDUWA NEWS today as reproduced below:
LANLATE BORN COMMISSIONER, WASILA ADEGOKE DENIED FEDERATION OF IBARAPA STUDENTS ASSOCIATION THEIR ALUTA BUS BECAUSE OF PERSONAL INTEREST AND POWER INTOXICATION.
It’s no longer a news that Governor Seyi Makinde distributed 28 buses to the students society on Thursday , March 7th, 2024, in fulfillment of his promise prior the 2023 general election.
But it’s to our dismay how the Lanlate born and power drunkard commissioner denied the entire seven town that makes up the Ibarapa region their dividends of democracy because of her personal interest and lack of intellectual capacity.
The office of the Senior Special Assistant, Hon. Olojede Victor D. called on the leadership of the association in the eleventh hour of Wednesday , 6th of March, 2024 that FIBSA should make themselves available to receive their Aluta bus Thursday 7th of March, 2024.
Unfortunately, when the leadership of FIBSA reach Ibadan earlier today, it was a switch of event when the SSA told them that the opportunist commissioner, Wasilat ADEGOKE instructed her not to give the bus to the leadership of the union on the basis that her leaders from Lanlate have called her that the bus must come to Lanlate at all cost because Lanlate has never been the union president forgetting that Lanlate was the former Senate President.
The uncultured and power monger commissioner is calling all corner to sabotage the leadership efforts because she didn’t hold any stake towards the association and she as not contributed anything to the development of the union.
Going by records, it would be recalled that the transition committee who oversee the affairs of FIBSA paid a congratulatory visit to the commissioner after she was swore-in as commissioner and also she was duly informed about the state of the union on constitution review and election.
The transition committee also informed the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on students affairs when they are to conduct the association election in February. The SSA Hon. Olojede also congratulates the President elect after the result was announced.
The transition committee also informed the National leadership of Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) prior the election and which the representatives of the Apex indigenous students union in Oyo State came to observe the election and immediately after the election, the National President and Senate President also sent a congratulatory message to the President elect.
We are now using this medium to call on the Students loving and peace embracing Governor to warn Hon. Wasilat to stay away from FIBSA National matter and she should by all means stop threatening the SSA on students affairs because the issue of students union is outside her jurisdiction.
We also use this avenue to appeal to the Governor to as a matter of urgency direct the SSA on students affairs to release the Aluta bus of Federation of Ibarapa students Association to the appropriate leadership of the union that he himself recognized and as worked with over the years.
Signed:
Former FIBSA National Presidents and Senate Presidents
FIBSA Transition Committee Chairman
FIBSA Electoral Committee Chairman
Past FOSSU National Excos from Ibarapa.
