Newly appointed Magistrates and Judicial Research Officers (JROs) have been admonished to be aware of the social changes in the task of achieving justice for the people and thereby commit themselves to unwavering efforts towards integrity, compassion and service to humanity.

The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Hon. Justice Mosumola Dipeolu gave this admonition in His Lordship’s keynote address at the induction training organised by the Ogun State Judiciary for newly appointed Magistrates and Judicial Research Officers held at the Judiciary complex in Abeokuta.

Enjoining the newly appointed Magistrates on their responsibilities, Hon. Justice Dipeolu stated that “As Magistrates, you are entrusted with the duty of ensuring that justice is not a lofty idea but a tangible reality for every individual who seeks it before them, your responsibilities demands unwavering dedication, impartiality and adherences to the highest ethical standards.”

The Chief Judge also charged the newly appointed Judicial Research Officers (JROs) to support the administration of Justice through diligent research and analysis.

“Your commitment to thoroughness, accuracy and objectivity is essential in upholding the integrity of Judiciary and ensuring that justice is served based on the rule of law” Ogun Chief Judge added

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Ogun State Judiciary training committee, Hon. Justice Olarenwaju Mabekoje disclosed that the induction course was aimed at improving the participant’s knowledge, on the administration of justice in the most efficient manner that would make their judgements and legal opinions to radiate learning and wisdom.

Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho Oosa, has returned to Nigeria.

A statement by Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed that the Yoruba Nation activist was in the country for his late 75-year-old mother’s burial in Igboho town, Oyo State.

Koiki disclosed this in a terse statement accompanied by a video via his X page on Thursday.

In the video, Igboho could be seen with some people believed to be at the mortuary. He wrote: “I can confirm that Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho is currently on his way to Igboho Town for the final burial of his mother Mrs SA Adeyemo.

“The body of Mrs. SA Adeyemo was picked up from the mortuary in Saki Town some few hours ago.”

Igboho has been out of Nigeria since 2021 when he eloped to Benin Republic after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services, DSS.

DSS had invaded his home in the Soka area of Oyo State over alleged terrorism charges. The secret police had declared him wanted over his agitation for the Yoruba Nation and attacks on Fulani herders accused of having attacked farmers in the Southwest.

In the Benin Republic, Igboho was arrested and remanded while attempting to travel to Germany. However, he recently regained his freedom after two years in a Beniese prison.

While detained in Benin Republic, Igboho lost his mother who lived in Saki, Oyo State.

Personnel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday raids Bureau De Change operators in Ibadan, Capital of Oyo State.

This is linked to the daily increase in dollar rate as against the Naira.

It was reported that Tinubu’s government had directed Nigeria’s Secret Police, Department of State Services (DSS) to force the BDCs to close down to save face over the free fall of the Naira.

Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested two Chinese: Yang Chao, 39, and Xiao Jiang 38 for suspected illegal mining activities.

They were arrested alongside Chidi Joseph Osuji, 48, suspected to be an accomplice in the illegal business.

Acting on intelligence, the suspects were trailed to their mining sites located at Ogunmakin and Ogere, Ogun State, where they were arrested after days of surveillance.

Preliminary investigations showed that Chao and Chidi are working as factory manager and machine operator respectively with Cruis Chemical Nigeria Limited located at Ogunmakin in Ogun State, while Jiang works with John Odiba Multibiz as an assistant manager in Ogere, Ogun State.

The suspects who operate as a cartel allegedly specialise in illegal mining of minerals such as marble stone, white powder, lithium and lepidolite, among others, which they are transporting outside the country through illegitimate means for private gains.

Investigations also linked the three suspects as owners of the solid minerals being conveyed by the 41 suspects arrested with truck loads of minerals at Share, Banni, Lade, Patigi and Okolowo in Kwara, and Igbeti and Ogbomosho in Oyo state by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC on on February 5, 2024 . They were arrested for engaging in mining activities without requisite licences.

In another vein, the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC have also arrested the trio of Sallah Asmau Wuraola, Owoduni Abdullahi Isa (a.k.a Bolaji) who are Point of Sale, PoS cashiers and one Shuaibu Rukayat, a nurse from Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State, for allegedly selling new naira notes of different denominations to customers for commercial purposes.

The arrest of the suspects followed credible intelligence on elements selling new naira notes to people at event centers, night clubs, hotels and parties without due authorization.

Wuraola and Rukayat were caught with the sum of N1,220,000 (One Million, Two hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira Only) while Isa was arrested with the sum of N150,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) only.

The suspects would soon be charged to court.

The protest started in Ibadan today 19th of February, 2024 at Mokola Roundabout.
According to our correspondent who visited the scene, several students, youths, Human right Activists as well as market women and men gethered under the bridge to register their grievances on the prevailing economic hardship in the country.

The protestors who carried placards with various inscriptions were seen chanting anti government songs.

The teeming youths also mobilized to major roads in Ibadan to express their displeasure against the government of President Tinubu.

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar-led Northern Traditional Council, has warned that rising poverty, hunger and insecurity in the country will force people to revolt against President Bola Tinubu’s government very soon, Peoples Gazette is reporting.

“It is getting to a level that traditional leaders could no longer pacify the people from revolting against government and political leaders that are supposed to find solutions to their lingering socio-economic plight,” Mr Sa’ad said.

“We have reached that level, people are very agitated, people are hungry, they are angry, but they still believe there are people who can talk to them, they believe in some of their Governors, some other traditional rulers and some of their religious leaders, fortunately some of us double as traditional and religious leaders.”

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have advised the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu to graciously throw in the towel if it cannot mobilise Nigerians as well as all organs and tiers of government for sustainable solutions to the various problems plaguing the nation.

The governors, under the aegis of the PDP Governors’ Forum, PDP-GF, specifically noted that the hardship and suffering being faced by Nigerians have no tribal, religious or party colouration, stressing that “a hungry man is an angry man”.

The PDP-GF gave the advice in a statement at the weekend by its Director-General, Hon CID Maduabum in Abuja.

The PDP Governors expressly pointed out that the buck ultimately stops at the President’s table as the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation, the Chief Salesman and leader of Nigeria.

The PDP-GF, nonetheless, assured that as stakeholders in governance, it would continue to work collaboratively with the President in finding lasting solutions to “a very difficult situation created or exacerbated by the APC since 2015”.

The PDP Governors frowned at the Minister of Information, APC Governors’ Forum and other officials of the APC-led Federal Government who criticised the the PDP-GF for their suggestions, advice and patriotic intervention on the way forward for the country in a communique issued at the end of their recent meeting in Abuja.

The PDP Governors reminded the APC-led government of the pertinent need to be guided by the fact that it (the APC) sought power to solve the problems of Nigeria not to compound them or shift blame, or grandstand or use propaganda to obfuscate or confuse issues.

The PDP-GF, in its statement at the weekend, categorically declared, “It must be noted that even though Nigeria is a Federation, there is indeed only one economy.

“Hardship and suffering being faced by Nigerians have no tribal, religious or party colouration. A hungry man is an angry man.
“While all tiers of government have a role to play, the APC led Federal Government has a disproportionate role to play in mobilising Nigerians and all organs and tiers of government for sustainable solutions.
“If it can not do so or is unable to do so, it should graciously throw in the towel.

“Attempts by the Honourable Minister of Information, APC Governors’ Forum and other officials of the Federal Government who criticised the PDP Governors’ Forum for their patriotic intervention should be guided by the fact that the APC sought power to solve the problems of Nigeria not to compound them or shift blame, or grandstand or use propaganda to obfuscate or confuse issues.’

“PDP governed States are comparatively the best in Nigeria in terms of developmental policies, programmes, and projects that benefit their States positively, regular payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities, and minimum wage to their workforce.

“State governments that are delinquent on these issues are not of PDP extraction. It is false to say so.
“Even the food crises are exacerbated by insecurity and high exchange rate issues, among others, which are largely federal subjects.

“The PDP Governors as stakeholders in governance would continue to work collaboratively with Mr. President to find lasting solutions to a very difficult situation created or exacerbated by the APC since 2015. We believe in co-operative Federalism.

“The buck ultimately stops at Mr. Presidents table as the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation, the Chief Salesman and leader of Nigeria.

“We are not in doubt that he is trying his best. We only hope and pray that his best is good enough to take Nigeria out of the woods in the shortest possible time”, the PDP Governors emphatically said.

The Ogun Divisional Police Headquarters has paraded seven suspected ritualists in connection with the murder of a 35 years old woman, Sulaimon Adijat, in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday.

CP Abiodun Mustapha Alamutu paraded the suspects identified as Moses Abidemi,Oluwa Samuel Monday,Prophet Peter Oluwalolese, Akinwunmi Ifatosin, Prophet Jamiu Yusuf, Sheriff Agbai and Osojieahen Ali before’ journalists.

He said they were arrested based on technical intelligence of the Anti kidnapping unit of the command to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of Adijat.

The Ogun police boss narrated how the seven suspects made up of herbalists prophets and their clients conspired to kill Adijat for money ritual expected to yield N200 million for their clients.

According to him, the victim was lured into the hands of the ritualists for the sum of N300,000.00.

CP Alamutu said, “Intelligence techniques revealed that Sulaimon Adijat was invited by her boyfriend, Adebayo Olawale Azeez on the 9th of January, 2024 to a hotel located at Atan Ota,Ogun State,later the DPO of Onipanu Divisional headquarters received a report of missing person.

“Consequently, a tactical team specifically the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the Command was drafted to unravel the mystery behind her disappearance and as such, the team embarked on a technical based investigation, which led to the arrest of the seven (7) suspects who participated actively in the abduction and eventual murder of the missing Sulaimon Adijat.

“Further investigation revealed that sometimes in 19th of November 2023, Sheriff Agbai and Osojieahen Alioneitouria contacted Oluwo Samuel Monday(A.k.a Oluwo Mandela to perform money ritual known as ‘Oshole’ that can produce Two Hundred Million naira within seven days;

“While Oluwo Samuel Monday charged the duo of Sheriff and Osojieahen Alioneitouria the sum of Eight Hundred thousand naira (#800,000) an

That the name Ogundoyin is a household name in Eruwa, the entire Ibarapaland and Oyo State is no doubt an incontrovertible fact. A trip down memory lane revealed that the family name was popularized by the great philanthropist, business mogul and community leader, Chief Adeseun Ayisa Ogundoyin of blessed memory.

As fate would have it, one of the children of the late Ogundoyin, Adebo Ogundoyin, the second of the four children of late Chief Mrs. Justina Iyabo Ogundoyin who plunged into active politics in 2017 has recorded great achievements and has carved a niche for himself as a child of destiny and a young politician to reckon with. This young man who lost his dear father at the age of four is fast becoming a man of many firsts.

Born 37years ago today, precisely February 17, 1987 in Eruwa, Adebo Ogundoyin is a result driven and goal oriented youngman.

His first ever political posters appeared on the streets of Eruwa and Lanlate in Ibarapa East Local Government area of Oyo State in 2018 when at the age of 31, Young Adebo declared his intention to contest in a by-election conducted by the regime of the late Sen. Abiola Ajimobi following the death of the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Adeyemo. Fortune smiled on him as he won the keenly contested by-election, and this set the pace for the many firsts of the Eruwa born lawmaker.

This victory made him the first member of Ogundoyin’s family to have contested and won an election. His emergence also made him the youngest lawmaker ever to have won an election into Oyo State House of Assembly.

As a graduate of Agronomy from the prestigious Babcock University, Inisan Remo, Ogun State, Adebo quickly rolled up his sleeves and used the remaining few months to the end of the 8th Oyo State House of Assembly under the late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi to garner and master the nitty-gritty of legislative activities and oversight functions.

In 2019, armed with his first time experience, Adebo again got the overwhelming votes of the people of Ibarapa East State Constituency. This gave him the mandate to represent them for the second consecutive time. This time around his political party, PDP secured a landslide victory winning 26 seats, leaving only 5 seats for the APC and just one seat for the ADP.

As a focused, highly consistent and persistent parliamentarian, Adebo made another outstanding first on June 10, 2019 when he emerged unanimously as the Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly at the enviable age of 32. With this, he set an unprecedented new record by becoming the youngest Speaker in Oyo State and in Nigeria as a whole.

Adebo Ogundoyin as the Speaker of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly gave the legislative assignment his all and at the expiration of the four years tenure of the lawmakers, the Assembly made groundbreaking achievements which led to another first for the young parliamentarian. The 9th Assembly under him beat all previous records of achievements of past Assemblies in Oyo State having passed a total of 97 Bills, 150 Motions, 400 Resolutions and over 90 Committee Reports.

In furtherance of his ambition to continue to serve his constituents, Adebo Ogundoyin for the third consecutive times won the March 18, 2023 Ibarapa East State Constituency election. With this uncommon victory, the Eruwa born lawmaker accomplished what has never been achieved before in his constituency and Oyo State at large as he became the first lawmaker in the annals of Oyo State legislature to have won three elections consecutively. He consequently became the highest ranking member of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly – (third time member).

On account of his high ranking status coupled with his vast experience in legislative activities and the excellent feats recorded by the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly under his watch, both returning and new members of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly unanimously and unhesitantly re-elected him the Speaker for the second consecutive time. With this, he added yet another first by becoming the first Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly to have been elected for two consecutive terms – uninterrupted.

Propelled by his innate ambition to serve at another higher level and as a big dreamer, Adebo Ogundoyin expressed interest in leading the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, and on the 16th of September, 2023 at heart of Abuja Adebo, Ogundoyin pulled another big surprise when he was elected the Conference Chairman at the age of 36years. This time around he broke three records. First, Adebo emerged the first member of the opposition party in Nigeria to be elected the Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria. Secondly, at 36years he became the youngest occupant of that position in the history of the Conference and above all, no Oyo State lawmaker had occupied that position in the history of the pacesetter State, hence Adebo Ogundoyin broke the jinx. What a feat!

It is worth mentioning that, since becoming the Chairman, Adebo Ogundoyin has been pursuing his visions for the Conference of Speakers leveraging on his experience, connections and network. He is already fostering unity and collaboration between the Conference, the States and Federal Government, engendering a stronger working relationship and promoting cross fertilization of ideas amongst State legislators as well as working out modalities to improve legislative processes at State levels.

There is no doubt that with his unrelenting versatility, hardwork, exceptional conscientiousness, uncommon doggedness as well as his potentials in breaking new grounds, building relationships and establishing connections which continue to manifest in everything he does, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin is brilliantly poised to add more firsts to the growing list of his achievements as new responsibilities, challenges and political exploits beckon.

Behold one of the youngest go-getters of our time – Adebo Ogundoyin, a pioneer of many firsts.

The Chairman of the Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria, Ishaq Abdulraheem, has decried the astronomical increase in the prices of baking ingredients.

In an interview with Arise TV, Ishaq said a bag of flour that was hitherto sold for less than N9000 is now being sold for N45, 000. He also mentioned that a 50kg bag of sugar is now being sold for N80, 000.

‘’The need for us to down tools by the 27th of this month is simply because of inflation, things are getting out of control. The prices of our commodities are getting higher and higher everyday. Infact, if you go to the market today, tomorrow when you go to the market, it is a different story. Today, a bag of flour that we were buying less than N9, 000 is getting to N45, 000, a 50kg bag of sugar that was for N19, 500 is ow being sold at N80, 000. Margarine used to be N12, 000 or N13, 000, today it is N25, 000.

The preservative we use used to be N30, 000, today it is N55000 to N60000 depending on the brand. So we downing tools is becoming necessary because the millers are not helping hus, government is not helping us, we are stranded”
