Folarin’s Brazen Display Of Sword In Public, An Invitation To Anarchy – Oyo PDP

Waterfield Luxury Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan.

The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has raised a security alert over the brazen open display of sword which was described as an invite to anarchy in a democratic setting calling on the state security agencies particularly the Nigerian Police to immediately call the senator to order.

The party said such flagrant show of indicorum in public exposes the deep thought and mission of the senator who was once remanded in Agodi prison by the Court over his alleged involvement in the death of factional leader of the proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Oyo State branch, Alhaji Lateef Salako, a.k.a Eleweomo.

According to a press release by the Oyo state publicity secretary of PDP, Akeem Olatunji, and made available to newsmen, the memory of Eleweomo’s gruesome murder is reawakened by the sight of such action which the party said is capable of creating an impression of a violent electioneering season in the state as the nation prepares ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general election.

Enraged by the video that has since been trending on social media, the ruling party alleged that reckless and unguarded comments and remarks emanating from the camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state must have been engineered from sources within the opposition camp to cause mayhem in the state against members of the ruling party under the guise of playing politics.

“We want to immediately and urgently call the attention of the security agencies in Oyo state particularly, the Nigerian Police, Oyo state command, to the indicorous act of brazen open display of a weapon at the venue of official declaration of Senator Teslim Folarin’s governorship ambition.

“The world must be urgently put on alert based on Folarin’s political antecedents with regards to political violence especially as involving the gruesome killing of Eleweomo in cold blood. The people especially security agencies in the state must also be reminded that this same Folarin had in past threatened to unleaseh terror on the good people of the state via his mischiefs and treachery plots in form of his failed traps (pakute) against Governor Seyi Makinde, which he and his cotravelers on their path of political perdition attempted and failed.

“We in the PDP strongly believe in the spirit of sportsmanship in our evolving democratic process. The ultimate sovereign power lies with the people and any informed politician with genuine motives will understand that to gain such power he or she must adequately sell him or herself to the people to secure their mandate.

“It is therefore, unimaginable to say the say the least unthinkable, that a serving senator of the federal republic seeking to govern the good people of Oyo state will resort to the garage politics of violence showing might of violence instead of selling ideas and personal image to the same people he is seeking to govern.

“The alleged involvement of this same Folarin in the gruesome killing of Eleweomo readily comes to mind with such ugly sight that greatly ridicule the image of the Nigerian Senate being a member of the hallowed chamber.

“From the time Oyo state government through the ministry of Public Works and Trabsport created the Park Management System (PMS) with a view to develop the transport sector and improve its revenue base, and also appointed Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, a.k.a Auxiliary, as the agency’s Chairman, the APC in Oyo state has particularly engaged itself with increased and endless false propaganda and blackmail against the state government.

“After relentless criticism and several failed ‘pakute’ by our ‘Mr pakute setter’, Senator Folarin, both the party has since lost its voice to criticize Lagos and other APC controlled states in the south west for adopting Makinde’s performing template in the transport sector.

“It is on record that after the proscription of NURTW in Lagos by the Lagos state government, the Lagos state Park Management System was established with MC Oluomo as the Chairman. Sadly, Folarin and his other ignoramus about the workings of government have continued to exposed their ignorance by relentlessly trying discredit the Oyo state PMS and its workforce.

“We must educate Folarin and his cotraveler that playing opposition is not being foolishly blind to laudable government policies and programs, it is infact an act of political naivety by political opportunist who in their very narrowed mind believe that it is only by brazenly displaying a sword to the people that would communicate what Folarin in this case is capable of in terms of political violence and causing fear in the minds of innocent residents.

“We call on the pragmatic and proactive Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko to immediately call Folarin to order with his unrestrained desperation to govern the state after his woefully failed attempt in 2015. We as the ruling party will not fold our arms and watch a man who should know the implication of sending violence signals to scare the electorates from coming out to perform their legitimate civic duties at the forthcoming polls.

“We want to state that Folarin and his cotravelers should not mistake our full respect for decorous politics and respect for all political aspirants in the forthcoming general election for weakness, we shall not hesitate to as a party use every legitimate means within the confines of the law to tame Folarin’s unrestrained desperation to govern Oyo state by all means.” The Oyo PDP’s statement said.

Waterfield Luxury Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan.

The Government of Osun on Thursday presented cheques of N53,290,000.00 as compensation to victims of police brutality in the State.

The State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, affirmed that the motive was a deliberate quest to redress the wrongs of yesterday and set the State on the path of true healing.

He said the gesture was a further testament to the commitment of the State Government to peace, fairness, unity, justice, equality, and indeed, the rule of law.

Governor Oyetola, in compliance with the directive of the Federal Government, constituted the Judicial Panel of Inquiry against Police Brutality, Human Rights Violations and Related Extra Judicial Killings.

The Panel, which was headed by the retired Judge of the High Court, Hon. Justice Akinwale Oladimeji, was charged to look critically and painstakingly into cases of assault, illegal arrest, killings, brutality and other forms of rights abuse by the officers and men of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police.

Oyetola further said the presentation of the cheques to the victims was a fulfilment of the financial component of the recommendations of the Panel and that the state had also, in adherence to directive to States, submitted the report of the Panel to the Federal Government.

The Panel had in its report recommended the sum of N53,290,000 as compensation.

Presenting the cheques to the victims as recommended by the Panel and approved by the State government, Governor Oyetola reiterated the Administration’s commitment to continuously maintain peace, guarantee the security of lives and property of the citizens and advance the course of the security agencies through the provision of state-of-the-art security architecture.

Oyetola who appealed to the citizens to continue to be law abiding and always demonstrate the virtues of Omoluabi ethos that the State is known for, said the State would spare no effort to create an ambience of peace and tranquility for the citizens across the nooks and crannies of the State.

“Today’s occasion should therefore be regarded as a deliberate quest to redress the wrongs of yesterday and set our society on the path of true healing.

“Our decision to pay compensation, which ordinarily is not the responsibility of the State, since the Police is not directly under our control, is a further testament to the commitment of our Administration to peace, and the rule of law.

“Let me however reiterate here that the list of all those that have secured judgement debts have been passed on to the federal government for necessary action, in line with the recommendation of the Panel.

“As an administration, we understand that no society can truly progress where the reign of injustice, inequality and lawlessness is encouraged to thrive.

“On behalf of the Government and our people, I passionately appeal to all those who are justifiably aggrieved for the wrongs meted to them in one way or the other to forgive and allow the next chapter of true and sustainable healing to open up for the good of all.

“I assure you that we are committed to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in fully implementing relevant reforms that would enable it play its role of maintaining law and order.

“Today’s event is a further testament to the commitment of our Administration to peace, and the rule of law. As citizens and officers of the State, let us reciprocate this gesture by continuing to relate with each other with the highest mutual civility, respect and understanding in the interest of sustainable peace and development.

“I salute the leadership of the Civil Society Organisations and youths for their understanding and tolerance over the years. I assure you that we will never let you down as a government in ensuring that we secure your future.

“On behalf of the Government and People of Osun, I express immense gratitude to the Hon. Justice Oladimeji-led Judicial Panel of Inquiry against Police Brutality, Human Rights Violations and Related Extra Judicial Killings for their impeccable services to the State”, he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Panel, Justice Akin David Oladimeji, extolled Governor Oyetola for deeming it fit to compensate the victims despite the lean purse of the State.

Oladimeji who described the gesture as a right step in the right direction noted that the decision would further register confidence in the minds of the people.

Speaking after receiving their cheques, some of the victims, who narrated their ordeals at the hands of police, expressed their profound gratitude to the Governor for the kind gesture, saying he has indeed demonstrated that he is people’s Governor.

You ‘II Be Disgraced At The Polls: Oyo PDP Replies Adelabu, Folarin Over Comments At Guber Declarations

Waterfield Luxury Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan.

The Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has today condemned the unprovoked derogatory comments by the duo of Bayo Adelabu and Senator Teslim Folarin at their respective governorship declaration events held in Ibadan on Monday and Tuesday maintaining that 2023 election defeat to Governor Seyi Makinde would be worse than 2019.

Oyo state PDP described Adelabu and Folarin’s comments against Governor Seyi Makinde as mere outbursts of desperate power thirty politicians aimed at motivating their demoralized loyalists who are still bewildered by the unexpected and unprecedented success recorded within less than three years in office.

A statement by the state Publicity Secretary of PDP in Oyo state, Akeem Olatunji on Thursday May 12 cautioned Adelabu and Folarin against reckless and unguarded utterances against the Governor in the name of politicking even as the political build up ahead of 2023 continues to heighten up.

According to the PDP in Oyo state, Adelabu and Folarin have clearly shown the depth of their political ignorance and naivety with what was called show of shame by failing to take advantage of their declaration to market themselves to the people but rather resorted to personality and individual attack against the person of Governor Makinde who’s success in office as governor has since become a benchmark for good governance in the entire country.

The ruling party in its press statement said the All Progressives Congress in the state is reputable for sheer false propaganda and can not be taken seriously by any serious minded Nigerian regardless of how loud the party tries to engage in personality attacks instead of political campaigns.

While warning against campaign of calumny capable of heating up the polity, the ruling party advised Adelabu to be wary of praise singers and bootlickers surrounding him and also deceiving him on the alter of individual throats. The party stressed that ‘Penkele’ as he is popularly known is only surrounded by political rookies.

The party also wondered how Seyi Makinde who is too busy fulfilling his mandate as the Governor has suddenly become the nightmare of both Adelabu and Folarin who should focus on first getting the APC ticket to contest in the general election noting that only political ignoramus with untamed desperation for power channels energy, time and resources to jump guns instead first crossing the first all important political huddle.

The PDP’s statement read, “It is sad and very pathetic that Nigeria’s political space in the state is experiencing such shameful dance of macabre by those who should continue to beg for forgiveness from the good people of Oyo state upon which undeserved terror and unspeakable hardship were unleashed for eight uninterrupted years.

“It is ridiculously fascinating if not funny to state that such abnormality in our political setting can only be sustained in an environment like ours where desperate and power thirsty politicians take full advantage of political orphans gasping for air for survival so much that they don’t care even if Satan comes out of hell to declare for governorship seat on the platform of the APC.

“It is even more amusing that political ignoramus like Adelabu and Folarin have continued to pick the wrong political fight at the wrong time because any informed and sound politician must know that before you even stand a chance to contest an election, you must first have your party’s mandate in your hand. It is therefore, rather hilarious to note that rather than selling themselves to their party to secure their party ticket they’re busy attacking Seyi Makinde who’s success in less than three years has since been the benchmark for good governance in the whole of Nigeria.

“For the sake of political education, Adelabu and Folarin should first secure their party’s mandate or how do we explain a situ

OPINION: Makinde’s Promise And Two Rep Slots For Female Inclusiveness – Moyosore

Waterfield Luxury Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan.

In today’s Politics, our women across the Nation have been sidelined and deprived of serving their country due to the influence of Gender Propaganda, Gender Intimidation, Frustration and Oppression in political period.

Let’s give kudos to our Feminist friendly Governor for having in mind women inclusiveness in Government especially in his administration, given room for them to serve in different capacities.

Your Excellecy Sir, I want to implore you, Sir to please effect your promise on TWO REP Slots you promised Female demographic.

Having said that, the thirteen aspirants in Ibadan North have only two females aspiring i.e Hon Toyin Balogun former part time member of the Library Board who has been supporting party faithful since 2018 and Hon Bolanle Sarumi former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora matters who has also proven her mettle since she joined this govt in 2019.

They are both highly versatile, extremely intelligent, trusted and tested nationally, both globally exposed, both staunch GSM Advocates who can represent the good people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency creditably.

Meanwhile, out of the Eight aspirants from Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, only one gallant female is among them whose nickname has been ringing the bells of all and sundry, Hon. Ramota Agberemi Dabo (RAD).

As I conclude, for the interest of our party not gender biased, always gender concerned, gender inclusive and gender friendly under the distinguished leader of the Party and The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Gov. Seyi MAKINDE, that if we are to have our fourteen Federal representatives at the green chamber from Oyo State, the leadership should please consider our women especially in these two major strong Federal Constituencies to produce two female candidates in Ibadan North and Akinyele/ Lagelu Federal Constituencies in the coming Primaries.

May I use this avenue to charge all eligible voters, delegates at the primaries to watch out for their conscience as they elect their possible destiny fulfillment on behalf of the people in that representations.

Smear Campaign: Senator Amosun Is Desperate, Hides Behind A Finger – Dapo Abiodun

The Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organization DACO has claimed that erstwhile Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is behind the smear campaign being sponsored against the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the Campaign Organization as read in part:

“The attention of the Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organisation (DACO) has been drawn to a terse and watery press statement issued by the “SIA Media Office”, making a feeble denial that “Sen Amosun is not involved directly or indirectly, in any campaign against Governor Abiodun or any person for that matter.”

“There is no doubt that the said statement of denial was an unsuccessful attempt to mislead and divert the attention of the discerning public away from the political machinations and shenanigans of the “SIA Media Office”. Senator Ibikunle Amosun, by the denial, is simply hiding behind a finger.

“In a publication obtained by ODUDUWA NEWS, on April 19, 2022 and other platforms, the loser in the 2019 gubernatorial polls in Ogun State, Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, not only owned-up to the fictitious, baseless, misleading and hate-filled petition written against Governor Dapo Abiodun to the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), by one unknown petitioner claiming to be a “leader” in our party, Hon. Akinlade actually named Senator Amosun as the sponsor/director of the petition.

“Akinlade stated and we quote: “I need to come and tell my people that if what we are looking at (petition) goes through and there is opportunity, I will come out to mobilise my people and I will run. But if the petition is jettisoned by the party and the party decides otherwise, we will stand with the party. That is the directive of our leader, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.”

“Since then, the statements and outputs from the “SIA Media Office” are nothing but storylines packed with political chicanery. Not unexpectedly, and true to well known character, as we saw in the buildup to the 2019 general elections, Senator Amosun and his people became more desperate when notable members in their now fractured camp started deserting in droves; saying they were tired of persistent deceit and failed promises. This set of serial petitioners became very desperate and peeved after Senator Lekan Mustapha, Amosun’s former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, and several others from Amosun’s camp visited Governor Abiodun few weeks ago in Abeokuta to pledge their loyalty to Mr. Governor and his second term aspiration.

A man should be able to stand by his actions. In the words of Maya Angelou:
“Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”

The “SIA Media Office” should tell the story of its cowardly denial to the marines.
