We Never Involved In Bus Burning Incident – LASTMA Dispels Rumour

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has denied any involvement in a bus burning incident in the Obanikoro area on Ikorodu Road as contained in a viral online video that falsely alleged complicity of its officials.

A statement signed by the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba sympathised with the vehicle owner but categorically denied the complicity of any of its officers in the incident, stressing that LASTMA patrol officers within the vicinity tried to assist in putting out the fire but were attacked by a mob.

He pointed out that the viral video lacked any evidence of LASTMA officers’ complicity or involvement, adding that those interviewed were neither eyewitnesses nor people directly involved in the incident but residents that did not witness the cause of the incident.

While decrying the unwarranted attacks on its officers across the State, Oreagba disclosed that the State Government will henceforth arrest and prosecute anyone attacking its officials while performing their statutory duties as enshrined in the law of the State or as directed.

The General Manager also advised reporters/bloggers to always conduct proper investigations and present facts rather than sentiments in their reportage to foster a peaceful and orderly society.

Gov Makinde Approves Recruitment of Additional 500 Amotekun Corps

Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the recruitment of additional 500 men for the Oyo State’s Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Amotekun Corps.

He said the measure is part of his administration’s efforts to enhance security of lives and property in the State.

The Governor stated this at a security meeting with local government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, heads of security agencies and traditional rulers among other stakeholders at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat in Ibadan at the weekend.

Makinde told the stakeholders that security issue is a collective responsibility that requires all hands to be on the deck to curtail insecurity.

According to him: “Security is everyone’s business and if we all play our parts well, we will have a safer and more secured environment.

“Although security of lives and properties is paramount responsibility of government, but government cannot do it alone except with cooperation of the entire citizenry and as we can see from the report gotten all over the country, Oyo State is relatively peaceful, this was not achieved by the effort of government alone but with the efforts of the all stakeholders, most especially the security commanders.

“This meeting is aimed at getting the situation report from various quarters on security as well as to dialogue on what to do as stakeholders and fine tune necessary steps, this will help government to put necessary machinery in place for people in the state to sleep with their two eyes closed and as the operation of the Amotekun corps is concerned, we have perfected the process of employing 500 more hands to enhance their performance and further deepen the security architecture of our State.”

While discussing the consideration on whether to incorporate local vigilante members into the existing security team for the enhancement of security in the State, Makinde urged all stakeholders and the general public to join hands with his administration in ensuring peaceful environment.

Former Oyo Governor Senator Rasheed Ladoja commended Makinde for being proactive in the area of security, which has greatly helped the State compared to neighboring States.

Picking A Vice President In 1999 Was A Mistake – Obasanjo

Former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said picking a running mate in the 1999 presidential election was a mistake.

He made the comment while speaking in Abeokuta at a leadership and entrpreneurship mentoring session with selected school students.

Obasanjo, who won the 1999 and 2003 presidential elections, ran alongside Atiku Abubakar.

Mr Abubakar is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections.

“I don’t say I don’t make mistakes – I made many of them,” Obasanjo said.

“But one thing that has happened to me is that God has never disappointed me. And that is very important.

“For instance, one of the mistakes I made was picking a number two when I was going to become President.

“But because it is a genuine mistake, God saved me out of it.”

Eight Oyo PDP House of Assembly Members Set To Defect To APC

The Oyo state chapter of the All Progressive Congress has prepared s to win at least eight currently serving Oyo State House of Assembly members from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to a source, a PDP lawmaker who wished to remain unnamed told this on Sunday in Ibadan.

The legislator claims that the lawmakers’ intended defection stems from their being denied party tickets to run in the elections of 2023.

2023: Certificate Or No Certificate, Tinubu Is Nigeria’s Next President – MC Oluomo

The Chairman, Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, says with or without certificate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is Nigeria’s next President.

He said this while reacting to the alleged certificate scandal of the Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Native Reporters shared how Tinubu told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that his school certificates were stolen by unknown persons during the military rule.

The former governor of Lagos stated this in an affidavit submitted to INEC as part of his eligibility filings for the 2023 presidential elections.

In the documents released on Friday, Tinubu left the columns for his primary and secondary education unmarked.

This had created a controversy, particularly on social media. Weighing in on the issue, MC Oluomo, who is an ally of Tinubu, tweeted, “Certificate or No Certificate, Asiwaju is the next President of Nigeria. Who certificate help.”

Pastor Remanded In Agodi Prison For Using Ifá To Defraud His Victims

A mid aged man known as Pastor Benjamin Gbóyèga Babárìndé of Technical l road, Èjìòkú, via Lálúpọn in ìbàdàn, Oyo State, and who is also a Pastor in St. Paul Anglican Church located at Ọlọ́ṣundé, Lágelú Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State has been arrested for spiritual scamming activities using Ifá Divinatory objects (Ọ̀pẹ̀lẹ̀ and Odù Ifá book) to dupe people that seek for his spiritual assistance.

The Babaláwos in the area noticed his criminal activities and set him up with two persons that disguised as clients who needed the pastor’s spiritual assistance. On getting there ,he prayed for them and afterward took them inside to consult for them using Ọ̀pẹ̀lẹ̀ Ifá and Ifá book titled “Ìwé Mímọ́ Ifá: Ẹ̀sìn Àkọ́dá Olódùmarè” written by Chief Ifalere Odegbola, the Àràbà of Ìbàdànland to give them messages.

He was reported to the Police at Ìyànà Offa, Lágelú Local Government Area and he was arrested on Tuesday, 21st of June, 2022.

He was latter arraigned in the Magistrate Court, Èjìòkú on Thursday 23rd of June, 2022 for trial, and the court remanded him (Pastor Benjamin) in the Agodi Prison in Ibadan and adjourned the case to Thursday, 14th of July, 2022 for the continuation of the trial.

Drama As Veteran Actor, Ogogo, Fights Dirty With Area Boys In Ogun

It wasn’t a good day for the area boys who came to show that they own the city where Veteran Actor, Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan was inspecting one of his projects.

The not so palatable incident happened in the Actor’s hometown, Ilaro, Ogun state where he got into heated fights and arguments with some street urchins who demanded he pays a certain amount of money before they let him go.

In a video shared by Ogogo, he was seen confronting the touts in a very fierce encounter.

Narrating his ordeal, he wrote via Instagram;

Gov Makinde Makes Fresh Appointments

As the administration began its fourth year in office, Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde made four significant appointments.

The individuals appointed were: Hon. Ademola Ojo, Deputy Chief of Staff; Hon. Ogunlade Busoye Soladoye, Chairman of OYSROMA; Hon. Wale Ajani, Director General of the Oyo State Liaison Office in Abuja; and Hon. Akanmu Kolawole Elijah, Special Assistant on Budget and Economic Planning.

Through letters dated as of June 24, 2022 and signed by Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, Secretary to the Government, the appointments were made public.

All of the newly appointed officials received congratulations from Governor Makinde via his Special Assistant (Print Media), Moses Alao. He instructed them to carry out their responsibilities with care, commitment, and allegiance to the government.

Hon. Ademola Ojo, also known as Ijaya, is a native of the state’s Ibarapa zone.

He served as caretaker Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government Area between 2000 and 2003. He was elected as the two terms Chairman of the Local Government and emerged ALGON Chairman.

Hon. Ogunlade hails from Oyo town, he holds Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo.

Hon. Ajani was former president, National Youth Council of Nigeria between 2010 and 2015. He holds Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from prestigious University of Lagos.

Ondo State Govt Approves Selection of Oba Olugbenga Ojo as Iralepo of Isinkan

The Ondo State Executive Council has approved the selection of Prince Olugbenga Ojo as the Iralepo of Isinkan in Akure south local government area of the State.

In a letter conveying the approval and signed by the Secretary to Ondo State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, the council congratulated the monarch for the feat.

Oba Oluwagbenga Ojo a trained legal practitioner, is the 38th Iralepo of Isinkan.

Meanwhile, the people of Isinkan have hailed the approval of Prince Olugbenga Ojo as the new monarch of the town and described it as a round peg in a round hole.

Speaking on behalf of the people, the Olori Omo Owa of Isinkan, Prince Durojaye Ariyo described the approval by the state government as unprecedented, noting the development was made possible through the understanding and better relationship among the people of the town.

He thanked the state executive council for Standing with Justice.

2023: Ex-Ekiti Gov, Fayose, NNPP Presidential Candidate, Kwankwaso Visit Wike

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Friday visited the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

Also present at the meeting was former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

Though details of the meeting was however sketchy but feelers around claimed the meeting was connected to having a coalition among several parties to defeat the ruling APC government in the 2023 general elections.
