The Oyo state chapter of the All Progressive Congress has prepared s to win at least eight currently serving Oyo State House of Assembly members from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to a source, a PDP lawmaker who wished to remain unnamed told this on Sunday in Ibadan.
Along with the parliamentarians, prominent PDP figures in the state are also expected to switch over to the APC.
The legislator claims that the lawmakers’ intended defection stems from their being denied party tickets to run in the elections of 2023.
We will be losing them, which is unfortunate. They have had a conversation. They don’t believe the governor’s assurances that he will give them consideration for appointments if he is re-elected.
Recalls that barely three weeks ago, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Olaniyan decamped to APC from PDP. The development is coming barely 3 weeks after the deputy governor, Raufu Olaniyan dumped the ruling party for APC.
