Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has presented the instrument of appointment and Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu, as the new Alale of Akungba-Akoko, in Akoko South West Local Government Area.

The Governor, in a statement on his official X handle, described the event as historic, noting that it ends years of disputes within the community over the traditional stool.

Aiyedatiwa added that the recognition of Oba Adu underscores his administration’s commitment to fairness, justice, equity, and peace across Ondo State.

He congratulated the new monarch on his ascension, expressing hope that his reign will usher in unity, progress, and prosperity for the people of Akungba-Akoko.

Nigerian skit maker, Raji Samad Adetola, popularly known as Sanku Comedy, has died in a fatal car accident along the Oyo–Ogbomoso road in Oyo State.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025, when the white Lexus SUV conveying Sanku and others veered off the road and plunged into a ditch. Eyewitnesses said all the occupants of the vehicle lost their lives despite being rushed to the hospital.

The crash has thrown fans and colleagues into mourning, especially as videos of Sanku’s last TikTok post—where he prayed against untimely death—went viral shortly after the news of his demise broke.

Tributes have continued to pour in from the entertainment industry, with many describing his death as a huge loss to Nigeria’s fast-rising skit-making community.

A new political group, under the aegis of the Coalition of Registered Political Party Members, CORPAM, has drummed support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, saying no forces can stop him in 2027.

The group, which cuts across members of 19 registered political parties in Nigeria, described David Mark, Amechi, Atiku and Aregbesola as the real enemies of the Nigerian masses.

The National Coordinator of the group, Oginni Sunday, made the declaration in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday at the launch of the Southwest chapter of a campaign group “Emilokan 2027”.

Oginni stated that, based on the president’s overall performance in office, “it is very important for all well-meaning Nigerians to join hands together for the successful 8-year tenure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a greater and better Nigeria of Our dreams.”

The National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, explained that the launch of “Emilokan 2027” is the celebration of the audacity of Tinubu’s courage when he made the famous declaration in the buildup to the 2023 presidential election.

His words, “Permit me to say here unequivocally that the spirit of Oduduwa and Egba ancestors positively entered Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and and like a possessed prophet of God Almighty made the declaratory statement that we all gathered here across political divides to celebrate today.

We are here once again in Abeokuta to invoke the same ‘Emi Lokan’ spirit that gave Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu victory in 2023, to ensure continuity of the great job he is doing. And with the collective support of everyone across political divides, it is possible to return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria President in 2027 with massive votes.

The likes of Mark, Amaechi , Atiku and Aregbesola are the real enemies of Nigerian masses. The true and genuine coalition being launched today by CORPAM is premised on the fact that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is able and capable to take Nigeria to the promised land with the support of all and sundry”, the NNPP National Secretary submitted.

Similarly, the spokesman of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, opined that the leaders of the ADC were members of the political elite that brought about the nation’s current economic transformation and insecurity and that they lacked the remedy to address the problem.

Tinubu’ll not step aside. He will spend that eight years conveniently in Aso Rock after which power can now go back to the North,” Arabambi said.

Meanwhile, the former State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Ayo Olubori, advised Nigerians to remain unaffected by the political machinations and antics of the opponents of the president, stressing that the nation’s current hardship are a necessary step on the path to the promise land.

Oduduwa News can confirm that the Lagos State Police Command has announced fresh restrictions on the ongoing Egungun festival, directing that all activities be confined strictly to designated outing points and approved celebration venues.

The directive, contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, is aimed at safeguarding lives and property while ensuring the rights of all religious and cultural groups are respected.

According to the statement, the Command has prohibited public processions and street parades by masquerades and their followers, citing recent incidents of disturbances, property damage, and violent clashes between rival Egungun groups in different parts of the state.

“To guarantee public safety and prevent further clashes between rival Egungun groups as currently being witnessed, and to prevent damage to private and public properties as reported in recent days, Egungun masquerades, practitioners, and supporters are to strictly abide by these restrictions,” the Command stated.

The police further directed that all masquerade outings must be preceded by official notification to the Commissioner of Police, with practitioners required to apply for security coverage ahead of their events.

In a stern warning, the Command emphasized that it would not hesitate to apply the full weight of the law against any masquerade, adherent, or supporter found disturbing public order, infringing on the rights of others, or causing breaches of the peace.

The Alliance for Oke-Ogun Development AOD, on Sunday, pledged support and readiness to work with the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho-Oke-Ogun, Prof. Babayemi Jacob, to actualise his dream for the newly established institution.

The National Coordinator, Alliance for Okeogun Development, AOD, Engr. Rafiu Otunba-Fasasi, disclosed this in his Congratulatory message signed on behalf of the group.

The group maintained that Prof. Babayemi Jacob appointed as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the First Federal University in Okeogun, as a testament to his tenacity and commitment to excellence.

Otunba-Fasasi noted that the new Vice-Chancellor came on high hopes as a humane gentleman, with sterling academic qualities and rare attributes of probity and rectitude to step up the game to take the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho-Okeogun to its most prestigious place of pride.

The AOD’s National Coordinator added that the group is proud of his academic exploits and will be readily available to work with him.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned motorists across the country to exercise restraint and adhere strictly to traffic rules as the ember months (September–December) begin.

The Corps warned that speeding, night travel, wrongful overtaking, and driving under the influence remain the leading causes of fatal crashes during this high-risk period. Ogun State Sector Commander, CC Nasir Mohammed, noted that while speed thrills, it also kills faster than any disease, urging motorists to value their lives and those of passengers.

He added that FRSC would intensify patrols, increase public enlightenment, and sustain road user sensitization to ensure safer highways throughout the season.

The ember months traditionally witness increased road traffic due to festivities and end-of-year travel, heightening the need for extra vigilance. Motorists are therefore advised to maintain speed limits, avoid overloading, and ensure proper vehicle maintenance.

It was a moment of celebration and reflection in Abidjan as dignitaries from across Africa and the world gathered to bid farewell to Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, who bowed out as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) after a decade of transformative leadership.

The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO) has appointed its first set of principal officers, marking a major step in the institution’s takeoff.

Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi, a distinguished animal scientist and former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan, has been named the pioneer Vice-Chancellor. An indigene of Okeho, Prof. Babayemi is widely celebrated for his prolific scholarship with over 145 peer-reviewed publications and his landmark inaugural lecture, “The Wonders of Ruminants.”

In the same vein, Dr. Kazeem Olarewaju Popoola, a seasoned chartered accountant and academic administrator, has been appointed the pioneer Bursar. Dr. Popoola, who previously headed the Finance Division of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, is a Fellow of several professional bodies including ANAN, IMC, and CCSSA (USA), and is also registered with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.

The appointments are expected to provide strong academic and administrative leadership as the new federal university positions itself for effective operations and sustainable growth.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has criticised the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, for claiming that the Federal Government has never signed any agreement with the union.

Dr. Alausa made the remark during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday, where he stated that documents often referenced by ASUU were mere negotiation proposals, not binding agreements.

He explained that the controversial 2021 agreement was never formally signed by the government, insisting that the current administration seeks to establish a new, actionable, and constitutionally compliant agreement with the union.

The minister said the Tinubu-led government is committed to resolving long-standing issues with university lecturers and has already released N50 billion this year to settle earned academic allowances.

ASUU, however, maintains that its demands go beyond allowances. The union has consistently pushed for improved salaries, better conditions of service, enhanced university autonomy, and comprehensive reforms in the education sector.

Responding to the minister’s claim, ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, accused the government of poor record-keeping and questioned the continuity between successive administrations.

Piwuna said the minister’s remarks suggest there may be a lack of proper handover and institutional memory within the government, which continues to hinder meaningful dialogue.

Meanwhile, Dr. Alausa announced the formation of a high-level technical team, including top officials from various ministries and agencies, to finalise a clean proposal for ASUU. He promised that the process would be thorough, fast, and aimed at reaching a sustainable agreement.
