The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, today arrived at the Stadium Complex, Adekunle Cantonment, Odogbo Barracks, Ojoo, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, for the Nigerian 2023 Army Day Celebration.
Shettima who was received at Odogbo Barracks with rousing welcome lauded the Nigerian Army for its role in protecting the territorial integrity of the nation.
He also spoke on the need for the security agencies to form a synergy towards combating insurgency and other crimes in the country.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa, while speaking at the event advocated deserved promotion for troops, particularly soldiers, as well as officers, fighting insurgency, saying it is painful to someone giving all his best when promotion goes to someone else.
The CDS who aso spoke at the lecture/book presentation as one of the events to mark the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2023, held yesterday at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan said the efforts of the gallant men of the Nigerian Army in combatting both internal and external aggression can never be undermined.
