Veteran Nigerian filmmaker has dismissed claims that longtime actor , popularly known as Papa Ajasco, is facing financial hardship due to poor pay from the production.
The controversy arose after statements attributed to Ayoyinka went viral, suggesting he earned modest fees despite decades in the industry and lacks basic assets, triggering public sympathy and criticism of Nollywood’s treatment of veteran actors.
In response, Adenuga described the claims as misleading, explaining that actors are paid based on agreed contracts, production budgets, and industry standards. He maintained that no one under his production has been exploited.
He also clarified that Papa Ajasco & Company is a structured production with intellectual property rights owned by his company, noting that several actors have played the role over time. The development has reignited broader conversations about welfare and compensation in Nigeria’s film industry.
