PDP Zonal Leadership Lifts Suspension on Hon. Taiwo Iyiola, Says Procedures Unknown to Party’s Constitution

The Zonal Leadership of the People’s Democratic Party on Tuesday, 2nd of February, 2021 lifted the suspension of Hon. Taiwo Iyiola, Chairman Ibadan North East Local Government of Oyo State.
In the State Signed by the Zonal Secretary of the Party Hon. Daisi Akintan and directed to the State Chairman of the party, he alleged that the State National Working Committee doesn’t not give Mr Taiwo Iyiola a fair hearing before approval his suspension from office.
“It was confirmed that he (Hon Taiwo Iyiola) was arbitrary suspended by the State Working Committee without any preliminary hearing as demanded by the party’s Constitution, therefore, this action falls short of procedures as laid down by the party’s Constitution” the statement reads.
“Exercising its power as stated in section 61(2)the Zonal Working Committee has hereby set the suspension of Hon. Taiwo Iyiola as chairman Ibadan North East local government aside forthwith”
Buhari approves N2bn for the establishment of Federal Polytechnic in Ogbomosho
President Muhammad Buhari have approved the establishment of a federal Polytechnic in Oyo state.
The polytechnic which is to be situated in Ayede town, Ogbomo, is said to gotten a nod from the president and a memo has been sent to Oyo state governor to that effect.
This was detailed in a signed letter by the Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono, and which was addressed to the Governor of the State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

Ogun state government has cleared air on the purported invitation of the socio-ethnic right activist, Sunday Adeyemo Igboho and his subsequent visit to the state on monday 1 february, Saying they state never contracted the activist to help fight the battle with fulani herdsmen in the state.
Sunday Igboho, who had earlier launched an attack on fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa axis of oyo state, had vowed to see Fulanis out of the entire yoruba land, saying they’ve caused enough atrocities and the yorubas can no longer accommodate them.
Sunday Igboho on his arrival to Ogun state on monday appreciated the state government for allowing him to help the people of ogun state in chasing the herdsmen from.every nooks and cronies of the state.
However, in a statement signed by the state commissioner for information and strategy, Hon. Waheed Odusile, said a news report relied upon to the effect that Igboho was invited to fight crimes in the state was quoted out of context as such misleading and regrettable.
A Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communication, Remmy Hazzan, had been quoted that Igboho would be welcomed in Ogun State as part of stakeholders fighting crimes and criminality in the State.
“In the interview, Hon Hazzan had said that the state government, in its usual inclusive approach to governance, would continue to work with all the stakeholders, both within and outside the state, to ensure security of lives and properties.
“Sadly, however, this statement was disingeniously twisted to mean that the State had invited Mr. Adeyemo to help curb insecurity. This is regrettable and totally misleading.”
Igboho, while speaking with journalists upon his arrival in the State had thanked the Governor for allowing him to come to the State and chase away the killer herdsmen from the State.
FG Extends NIN-SIM Linkage by Eight Weeks.
The ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise has been extended by eight weeks, the Federal Government announced on Tuesday morning.
It said the new deadline was now April 6, 2021.
Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission, Ikechukwu Adinde, who disclosed this in a WhatsApp message to our correspondent, said the extension was conveyed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.

To stabilize security in Ibarapaland, Gov. Makinde hands over additional vehicles to Amotekun
The Ibarapa security engagement which started yesterday continued today as more stakeholders from Ibarapa Central and North local governments, including traditional rulers, Student representatives and youths were present at today’s gathering.
The Oyo State Government led by Governor Seyi Makinde handed over additional vehicles to the Amotekun corps in Ibarapa zone to enhance proactive response.
Makinde while speaking to the traditional rulers advised them to be security conscious and to support his administration to rid entire Oyo State of criminal elements.
He however vowed that he will not relent in his efforts at ensuring peaceful coexistence in Ibarapa environs and entire Oyo State.

Residents of Ijedodo-Ijegun protest in Lagos, ask Sanwo-Olu to save them from ‘Omo Onile’
Residents of Ijedodo and Ijegun areas of Lagos State on Monday embarked on a peaceful protest in Alausa, asking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to save them from Land Grabbers who are bent on demolishing their houses for selfish reasons.
The residents said two people have already died as a result of the apprehension over the planned demolition, and that the Omo Oniles refused to allow the dead landlords to be buried in their houses on account of the pending demolition.
The residents said it was surprising that the land grabbers had the audacity to attempt to take over their land in question after the land had been duly mapped out by the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
They said Governor Sanwo-Olu had already given an order on the issue but that it was being flouted by land grabbers.
COVID-19: Lagos bans indoor gatherings of more than 50 people
ODUDUWA NEWS has just gathered that Lagos State Government has banned gatherings of more than 50 persons in the state.
Providing an update of the COVID-19 situation in the state on Sunday, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos state governor, said places of worship are exempted from this rule because religious gatherings are not to exceed 50 percent capacity of the space.
Sanwo-Olu said the state government has observed a disregard for protocols designed to curb the spread of the virus.
“The state government has observed with dismay the widespread flagrant disregard and non-adherence to guidelines and protocols aimed at stemming and curbing the tide of infection.
“We particularly note that some event centres have been operating their premises outside the acceptable parameters for operation/usage and continue to be recalcitrant in this regard.
“This is to sound a very serious note of warning that henceforth all those found culpable and in breach of the existing regulations and guidelines would be swiftly and decisively dealt with in full accordance with the provisions of the law.
“In line with the COVID-19 Health Protection Regulations 2021 signed last week by President Muhammadu Buhari, it is hereby directed that no gathering of more than 50 persons shall hold in an enclosed space, except for religious purposes, in which case the gathering shall not exceed 50% capacity of the space.
“A breach of the provisions of the Presidential Regulations attracts upon summary conviction, a fine or six months imprisonment and or both. Our enforcement agencies have been appropriately tasked to ensure maximum compliance.”
