In what appears bizarre to many, women clad in fetish white wrappers arrived OAU Campus as early as 8.15am and blocked all the entrances, including the main gate and Road 7 gates.
Students of the OAU staff school could not gain access to their school for 2nd Term examination which was to start today.
The women moved round the campus and sang occult songs at the motion ground in front of the Senate Building.
You will recall that Prof Adebayo Simeon Bamire emerged as the next VC that will take over from the incumbent in June when his tenure expires.
Ile-Ife, despite being the host community, has not produced any topmost man to steer the affairs of the great institution since its existence over 60 years ago. This time around, there is a reputable Professor who is of Ife extraction, whom everyone believes would break the jinx to become the first indigene to assume the top echelon of the renowned university. The outcome of the governing council last week seemed unfavourable and conspicuous robbery. The disruption of activities on campus today cannot be detached from the ‘unfavourable’ choice of Oyan man as the 12th VC.
