A 27-year-old suspected Yahoo boy, Obeta John, was on Tuesday, November 29th, arrested by men of Ogun state Police Command for allegedly k!lling his girlfriend, one Idowu Buhari, an HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway polytechnic Saapade.
The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect was arrested following a distress call received at Ode -Remo divisional headquarters, that the suspect, who resides at No 3, Mojubade compound, Eredu Ishara, locked himself and his girlfriend inside his room and had started b€ating the girl and hitting her head against the wall, and all efforts made to persuade him to open the door proved abortive.
”Upon the distress call, the DPO Ode-remo division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi quickly led his men to the scene where they met the victim in the pool of her blood after forcing the door opened.
The victim was quickly rushed to State Hospital Ishara,but was pronounced d€ad by doctor on duty. ”A statement from Oyeyemi reads
He said the suspect who is an indigine of Enugu state was promptly arrested and taken to custody.
”On interrogation, the suspect, Obeta John, informed the police that he is an internet fraudster, and that certain amount of money from one of his clients was paid into the account of his deceased girlfriend which she refused to relinquish to him.
He stated further that it was the argument over the said money that led to scuffle between them which eventually led to the d€ath of the girl. ”the statement further read
Abimbola added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
Police in Ogun state on the 30th of November 2022 arrested two brothers Emanuel Nwachukwu 28 years and Sunday Nwachukwu 24years for stealing a Toyota Camry car with registration number JJJ 661 GJ while on their way taking the said vehicle to Imo state.

The two suspects were arrested by men of Federal Highway patrol, who were on stop and search duty along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has directed that the policy of ‘no tuition no exam’ be suspended in LAUTECH, Ogbomosho.

As promised, in less than 24hrs, the Visitor of the University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, who is also the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde has directed the University Management through the Governing Council Chairman, to suspend the No Tuition No Exam Policy.
Recall that on the night of Wednesday, 30th November 2022, the SUG President, Adeboye Anuoluwa, and Vice President Olayinka Titilayo had an exclusive meeting with the Governor where they passionately appeal to him to intervene in the No Tuition No Exam Policy. In the meeting, the SUG President, Adeboye Anuoluwa, expressed the interest of the affected students and considered the policy to be anti-students policy. He also noted to the Governor that thousands of students have been greatly affected by the policy thereby causing them to have an extra year on campus. He then passionately appeal and requested a quick intervention from the students-friendly Governor.
Today, 1st December 2022, we are glad to inform the students and general populace that the University Management has received the directive from her visitor through the Governing Council Chairman for the suspension of the No Tuition No Exam Policy. In compliance with the directive, all students are now eligible to write the examinations.

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Tuesday arrested two suspected abductors and rescued a female victim inside their car around Presbyterian Church, Yaba, Lagos.
The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bolaji Oreagba stated that the two suspected abductors were arrested by a team of personnel from the Somolu zone while on traffic monitoring patrol around the Yaba axis.
He said, “Our officers on patrol and with the help from passersby chased and apprehended a Toyota Corolla saloon car (FST 60 RJ) after a lady in the back seat was heard shouting ‘kidnappers’ after the bridge coming towards Yaba from Jibowu”.
“The driver with the lady in the front seat Was immediately apprehended while the woman who cried out for help explained that immediately she joined the car from Maryland going to Apapa, a lady beside the driver collected her phone with other valuables. Realising that they were robbers, she had to shout to attract public attention”.
The arrested driver who gave his name as Mr. Monday Amhe confessed during interrogation that he and the arrested lady simply identified as ‘Joy’ were ‘one-chance’ robbers.
The arrested driver further stated that they usually operate by picking up passengers along Ikorodu road and robbing them of their valuables before discharging them at any location of their choice.
The alleged conspirator ‘Joy’ confirmed it was the driver (Monday Amhe) who introduced her to the business.
They were both handed over to Sabo Divisional Police Station by LASTMA Officers for further investigations and prosecution.
The General Manager, however, cautioned members of the public to be extra vigilant and careful when boarding unpainted private or commercial vehicles across the State.
The Osun State Government on Thursday installed Prince Adegboyega Famodun, as the new Owa of Igbajo, in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the State.
Until his unanimous selection and appointment by the kingship authority, Famodun was the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that the State Executive Council at its meeting last Monday ratified the selection of Oba Adegboyega Famodun by the kingmakers from Igbajo and he was subsequently installed on Tuesday morning after undergoing all the traditional rites associated with the stool.
The installation of Oba Famodun from Gbeleru section of Owa Oke Ruling House became necessary after the demise of his predecessor, the immediate past monarch, late Oba Engr. Olufemi Fasade who joined his ancestors on the 23rd of December, 2020.
Presenting the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the new traditional ruler, Governor Oyetola expressed confidence in the ability of Oba Famodun to take the ancient town to an enviable height.
Oyetola who described the new monarch as an embodiment of good character, nobility and political wherewithal, said he had no doubt that his reign will attract unprecedented development and progress to the town.
According to him, Oba Famodun is imbued with high political sagacity and leadership qualities which will be sustained on the throne
“As the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, the new Owa was a significant player in our Administration’s good governance model that unleashed sustainable development on Osun in general and Igbajo in particular in the past four years.
“These laudable projects include the revitalization of 332 Primary Health Centres in every ward in the State, including Igbajo; the rehabilitation of rural and township roads designed to open up our rural areas, help our farmers to transport their produce to the market and generally bring equitable development to our State; renovation of buildings, distribution of educational materials to our pupils, provision of free education and free meals to them as well as training and re-training of our teachers to provide quality education for our children to enhance their performance as leaders of tomorrow,” Oyetola said.
He also urged the people of Igbajo particularly the youth to rally round the new monarch in their collective quest to advance and accelerate the course of development and progress of the town.
“I urge you all to reciprocate these interventions by cooperating with your new Monarch to engender peace in the State and discharge your civic responsibilities through regular payment of taxes and other levies to achieve further provision of services.
“Let me appeal to our youths to cooperate with the Monarch by continuing to leverage on the various programmes we embarked upon to cultivate and develop them, including the institution of the 4Es of our Youth Policy – Youth Engagement, Youth Education, Youth Enterpreneuship and Youth Empowerment – to integrate them into our sustainable development plan.
“I have no doubt that as a political and traditional ruler, Kabiyesi Famodun will continue to cultivate the youth so that our administration’s resolve to make them responsible and functional members of the society will be accomplished.
“In order to achieve these lofty ideals, the youth, our strength and leaders of tomorrow, must refuse to be used for violence by people who have no respect for their person and future. They must also desist from acts that can truncate the peace and tranquility of the State”, he added.

He promised to do all that is humanly possible to advance the cause of the ancient town and herald socio-economic development befitting the town and her people throughout his reign.
The Oyo State House of Assembly has today passed the bill to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to University into law.
The third reading was read today at the State House of Assembly by the Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon. O. A. Fowokanmi.
The bill seeks to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to University had in October 5th scaled second reading after a thorough deliberation at the State Assembly.
The Chairman of the Committee on Education, Hon. Fowokanmi while reading the bill for the third time, made clarifications on some ambiguities in the bill on a clause by clause basis as amended by his committee.
The House unanimously agreed that the Chairman Committee of the whole House who also doubled as the Speaker of the House, Hon. Debo Ogundoyin considers the report presented by the Education Committee clause by clause.
The Majority Leader, Hon. S. A. Onaolapo thereafter moved for the final adoption of the third reading and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape.
The Minority Leader, Hon Alarape, while granting interview to ODUDUWA NEWS, said the agitation for the upgrade had been on for a long time now because there are so many existing Universities that can not boast of the facilities owned by Emmanuel Alayande College of Education.
He congratulated the 9th Assembly for the success recently achieved in realizing the dream of upgrading the College to a University. He maintained that the upgrade will boost the enrollment capacity of tertiary education in the State.
He stressed that the upgrade will further help to increase the internally generated revenue of the institution as more students pursuing higer degree programme will now be admitted.
Hon. Isiaka Arole in his words, said the recent acheivement of the House in upgrading the College of Education to University would spread development to Oyo town.
One Prince Lukman Olatunji Gboleru was reportedly killed over attempt by yet to be identified persons to access the locked palace of Akirun of Ikirun in Ifelodun local government area of Osun state.
This is as three fire fighters deployed to the town to quench fire that razed part of the palace were attacked by mob, preventing them from accessing the palace. It was gathered that some security operatives exchanged gunshot at the entrance of the palace with some hoodlums which eventually resulted to the deceased death. Findings gathered that some hoodlums jumped into the palace and set part of it on fire.
An elder brother to the deceased, Prince Tajudeen Gboleru disclosed to newsmen that the deceased led some people towards the palace upon hearing that some persons attempted to forcefully gain access into the palace. According to him, I heard that there was gunshots in front of the palace by security operatives with some people and he was killed right in front of the palace. “I don’t know who really shoot him but there was gunshot by soldiers and police and he was killed.”
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the state Fire Service Department, Adekunle Ibrahim said the department was alerted to the fire incident by police and personnel were deployed to quench the fire.
“However, a mod stopped the vehicle from accessing the palace and our personnel were attacked. Three of them have been taken to the hospital as I speak with you. “I don’t know the source of the fire, but we were told that some person set part of the palace on fire due to the chieftaicncy crisis in the town”, he said. As at the time of filling this report security operatives have been deployed into the town, as resident abandoned their businesses for safety.

As part of his administration’s effort to ensure quick take-off of academic activities at the newly approved and licenced University of Ilesa, Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday, inaugurated the Governing Council of the University.
The immediate past Minister of Health and Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole chairs the Council.
This is even as the Governor charged members of the Council on fairness and proactiveness towards ensuring the financial sustainability of the institution.
Members of the Governing Council are: Chief Akinwande Akinola – Pioneer General Manager, International Breweries Ltd; Professor Sola Akinrinade – Pioneer Vice Chancellor, Osun State University; Chief Bayo Jimoh,- Former Group Managing Director Odua Investment Company; Dr. Charles ‘Diji Akinola – Chief of Staff to the Governor of Osun State; Professor Labo Popoola Former Vice Chancellor, Osun State University.
Others are: Professor Oluyemisi Obilade – Former Vice Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education; Mr. Rasheed Sarumi-GMD, SaroAfrica; Representative of the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC); Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Osun State; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Osun State; Statutory internal members from the University as provided for in the Establishment Law, who would be added upon the take-off of the University; Prof. Kayode Ijaduola and Dr. Dada who will serve as the Council’s Secretary.
Recall that the administration of Governor Oyetola had earlier approached the State House of Assembly for the upgrade of Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to a full-fledged university after which it was approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Inaugurating members of the Governing Council, at the State Executive Council Lounge, Governor’s office, Abere, Osogbo, Governor Oyetola, said the idea of this new University had become necessary to further expand access to qualitative education, among other opportunities, for the young population.
“As a State known for excellence in all spheres, we envision a citadel of excellence that will enter the nation’s educational space as a leader in the university’s tripartite mandate of teaching, research and community service and provide competitive graduates that will transform the State’s economy in line with our Development Agenda and rule their world.

“This is the profile of the University we have invited your Eminences into, believing that your individual records of distinction will deliver the excellence and internationalization that we envision.

Oyo State Government, on Tuesday, approved the award of the contract for the construction of a Magistrate Court and a Police Station at the Olomi Correctional Centre, Ibadan.
The projects which will be delivered through the Alternative Project Funding Approach (APFA) is expected to be completed in six months.
The State Executive Council which made the approval, also approved the renovation of the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, Secretariat, Ibadan. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, explained that the Federal Government had proposed to relocate the Agodi Correctional Centre to Olomi in Ibadan, adding that the state government decided to construct the Magistrate Court around the Olomi Correctional Centre to ease justice delivery in the State.
The statement said that by constructing the Court, the state government resolved to key into the security architecture as designed by the Federal Government and strengthen the judicial system. The statement further indicated that the State’s Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin and the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon Siju Lawal, provided details of the contracts while briefing newsmen shortly after the State executive council meeting held at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Prof. Sangodoyin said: “The Council considered the construction of Magistrate Court and Police Station at Olomi Correctional Centre in Ibadan. Recall that the Federal Government had proposed to relocate that of Agodi to Olomi. And for our state to key into the security architecture and strengthen the judicial system, we considered the move. This will ease justice delivery in Oyo State.“So, today, we approved the construction of the magistrate court and police station at the cost of N456,979,164,28k to Messrs Dunton Ltd. It will go for a duration of six months through APFA. “We have a two month moratorium after which we will pay the contractor for a year, beginning from February 2023 to January 2024.
“Similarly, the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon. Siju Lawal announced that the executive council also approved the renovation of Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, which is a formal training school in the old Western state, which he said has been abandoned for many years.He said, “Today, we unanimously approved the general renovation of Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, which is a formal training school in the old Western state. It has been abandoned and neglected for many years but the renovation was approved.“After the renovation, we believe it will compete favourably well with its counterparts in the whole of the federation.
“The project will cost a sum of N121, 48,978,83k and was awarded to All-time Nigeria Ltd with duration of 12 weeks. Thirty per cent payment has also been approved to fast-track the completion of the project.”In addition, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, also told newsmen that Council meeting discussed government’s efforts at curbing the menace of kidnapping along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway and other areas.He said: “At the meeting, we discussed the efforts being made by the state government to curb the menace of kidnapping along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway and other areas.“We are also putting in place a water-tight security to ensure that people in the state can sleep with their eyes closed.“The other one is the issue of promotion of workers. We observed that some officers who are supposed to be promoted were denied due to systematic error.
“We discovered that 1,629 were affected by this error. As a result, they were not considered for promotion, which falls within 2017 and 2020.“So, the Council graciously approved that the officers involved be allowed to get their promotions unhindered.”
Nollywood actress, Nkechi Sunday, has met the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.
She revealed this via her Instagram account on Monday.
Recall, Nkechi Blessing had earlier sought to become one of Ooni’s queens few weeks when the foremost traditional ruler tied knots with his six queens.
Nkechi posted on social media, saying she was painstakingly waiting for her turn to become queen in Ile-Ife.
