Five persons have been confirmed dead while four others are in critical condition as a result of commotion which followed a new year party organised by a group of friends at Akinmori in Afijio Local Government area of Oyo State.
It was gathered that crisis ensued when one of the organisers was tongue lashed by his colleagues for driving recklessly into the venue of the party.
This, according to one of the eyewitnesses, did not go down well with him and he later entered his car with annoyance.
A source who did not want his name in print said, “The young man drove into the venue of the party on a high speed and was being scolded by his friends who were already at the venue of the party.
“After the intervention of some elders around, the young man entered his car reluctantly. Still angry at the confrontation, he vowed to spill blood. Then he started the car and and zoomed into the dancing friends, knocking down over 10 people.”
Investigations by our correspondent, however, revealed that three of his friends, who were in the car at the time of sad event, had been arrested while his own whereabout was still unknown.
When contacted on phone, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident, saying police had already commenced investigation into the ugly incident.
He said, “Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates would be provided accordingly, please.”

Speaking further, CP Adebowale Williams described Ado-Awaye town as a pre-historic Western settlement, famous for its civilisation and resourcefulness which predate the 18th century. He added that Ado Awaye town was known for its composition of highly cerebral and sophisticated individuals whose knack for hospitality, creativity and entrepreneurship is overwhelming. Adding that, Ado Awaye being the home of the famous Iyake suspended lake which attracts tourists in their drones from around the continent and indeed the world to witness Nature’s perfection, needs high profile security outfits.

The former Chairman Of Iseyin local government and Deputy Governorship candidate under the African Democratic Congress in the 2019 election, Alhaji Saheed Alaran has on Tuesday, organized a special Muslim prayer for the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kayode Ariwoola at Iseyin.
The focus of the prayer which had the Chief Imam of Iseyin local government, Alhaji Akeem Babatunde Olajori and members of the Iseyin League of Imam and Alfas in attendance was for God’s guidance and protection over the CJN in his national duties.
The prayer point was also centered on prominent sons and daughters of Iseyin community like Barrister Raji Ahmed SAN, who Alaran described as a strong pillar for the development of Oyo State, Oke-Ogun and Iseyin community.
Others that were prayed for at the occasion are the Nigerian envoy to Ukraine, Ambassador Shina Alege, Barrister Jelili Owonikoko SAN, Barrister Bimbo Atilola among many others.
In his words, Alaran said the prayer was important as the CJN has a national calling to rebuild the judicial system in Nigeria, so as to make justice available to all without segregation, adding that the distraction that followed his elevation was from elements that forgot that Nigeria remained a country that could only survive its current challenges by working on the unity of its tribal sections.
“The prayer is important because our brother who has assumed a national position upon which our country’s judicial system is anchored for survival and rebirth, he has gotten all that is needed to achieve the height and he has gotten there, what remains is for God Almighty to guide, protect and support him in all his doings.
“Also, we are here to pray for our brother who is the face of Oke-Ogun and Iseyin, a respected legal practitioner and philanthropist per excellence, Alhaji Ahmed Raji SAN, Oke-Ogun and Iseyin need him more now that development has started coming our way, may he never misstep, may all God continue to replenish him with wisdom and capabilities to do more for the people.
“So did we pray for others like Ambassador Shina Alege, Barrister Jelili Owonikoko and other sons and daughters of this community at home and abroad that are making us proud in their different endeavors.”
The Chief Imam of Iseyin, Alhaji Akeem Babatunde Olajori while praying, cautioned those he said were out to play politics with the future of Nigeria by attacking the CJN to desist, otherwise they would attract the wrath of Allah.
Olajori said the news of some people, sponsoring opposition against the CJN came to him as a shock in a nation that proclaimed unity as the bedrock of its existence.
“God is not a God of tribe, he created all equal and assigned everyone with his or her own time, why would they raise eyebrow when it is legitimately the turn of our own son? Although we appreciate the President of Nigeria for not allowing tribal sentiment get in his way and pray that the time of Justice Ariwoola will be favorable to our nation at large.”
The Ikolaba of Iseyinland, High Chief Ismahil Odubiyi Tikalosoro said the focus of the prayer was not only on the CJN, Barrister Ahmed Raji and other sons and daughters of Iseyin that have made national marks, but also for a prosperous Iseyin going forward.
He prayed that God Almighty will take control of the selection process of the new Aseyin of Iseyin, which he said has gotten to a considerable level.
Present at the prayer gathering were other traditional Chiefs and community leaders like retired Colonel John Ayegbonyin Fagbire and Alhaji Olanrewaju Azeez of the Iseyin Elders’ Council among many others.
Three young men have been reportedly killed on Monday morning by yet-to-be identified people in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The incident happened around Office Bus Stop, after World Oil petrol station on new Ibadan/Oyo Expressway in Akinyele Local Government area of the state.
Investigations by newsmen revealed that the incident happened early hours on Monday.
It was further gathered that one of the victim was beheaded while vital parts were also removed from the remaining two bodies.
A commercial driver, Abdulfatai AbdulGaniyu said, “I saw the lifeless body of these people in the morning when I was carrying passengers from Ojoo to Toose today. The case looks like ritual because one of them was beheaded.”
Another source who claimed anonymity said, “Passengers who are looking for cheap prices, cheap buses are normally staying at that bus stop to board their vehicles to either Oyo, Ogbomoso, Ilorin and even Jebba.
“They cannot afford the fare at the terminal, that’s why they stay there. But this particular case is quite different because some of their vital organs were removed.”
Earlier yesterday, the Oke-Ogun People’s Award was held in Iseyin with several prominent sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun in attendance.
The award-giving event which spans over two years usually organized to honour Oke-Ogun indigenes who have carved a niche for themselves in their various areas of endeavours.
This year’s edition also included awards of honour to Oke-Ogun students who are also excelling in their various courses of studies in higher institutions of learning.
Recall, Lateef Adetunji Adeleke was the first student to be awarded Oke-Ogun Best Student Award (OOBSA) in last year’s edition, having won the competition in 2019.
Lateef who hails from Iseyin represented Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA) where he studied Linguistics and graduated with a first class honours degree in 2021. He graduated as the University’s Overall Best Student and the first of such from Faculty of Arts in the history of AAUA. He is currently a postgraduate student at the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, University of Ibadan.
According to ODUDUWA NEWS Correspondent who monitored the event, this year’s Oke-Ogun Best Student Award (OOBSA) went to a young lad, Waris Sanusi who hails from Igboho in Oke-Ogun and studied Industrial and Production Engineering from the University of Ibadan where he recently graduated with a First Class Honours and got inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ibadan.
He is currently an IT Solutions Architect at Huawei Technologies, Nigeria and has received several multinational awards.
Several prominent sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun which included Prof. Dele Layiwola, a former Director of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan; Chief Adekunle Tanwa, an Industrialist; Hon. Ado-Awaye town in Iseyin Local Government will receive people from all works of life as God’s Generals holds holy praise night on the 30th December, 2022.

The woman handed over her daughter to her younger brother’s wife, Kehinde Ojo. Ojo, a seamstress, was said to have taken Ajayi to Omolola’s house in the General Gas area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The policewoman reportedly promised to support the teenager to learn a craft while she worked for her as a housemaid. The child’s mother said she agreed to the arrangement after Omolola also promised to take care of her daughter.
Jimoh, however, said less than 10 months after the 14-year-old left their house alive, her corpse was returned with scars.
She said, “In February 2022, my sister-in-law, Kehinde Ojo, who married my brother, Fatai, came to me that a woman in Ibadan, Omolara, who was working with the police, wanted a girl to take care of her baby and her house too.
“I accepted, but I told her that I did not want payment; all I wanted was that the family should help me to train her either in school or fashion design.
“Ojo called the woman (Omolola) who wanted my girl; we spoke and she agreed to the conditions that I gave her.
“Since February 2022 when my daughter left my house, it was her brutalised corpse that I received last Friday from Omolola, whom I have not met but through my sister-in-law.
“Some days before then, my heart went to my daughter and when I called to speak with her through Ojo, Omolara’s number was either switched off or busy.”
Ojo, who spoke to newsmen, confirmed that she took the victim to the policewoman’s house.
“I then remembered that my sister-in-law was talking about having somebody that could train Tomiwa (Ajayi), her first child, to school or learn handwork. I quickly contacted her and she agreed to allow Tomiwa to work with Omolara.
“I took her to Omolara in February this year and begged her to treat the girl like her child. Anytime Tomiwa’s mother wanted to talk to the girl, it’s through my phone.
“But sometime last week, Tomiwa’s mother was on my neck that she wanted to speak to Omolola, her daughter’s guardian, and Omolara started to evade calls.”
The woman said suddenly, Omolola asked to speak with her in private about the child.
“Omolola asked me if she could talk to me in private and I agreed, only for her to tell me about the death of Tomiwa through a swollen leg injury.
“She asked if it was possible that they could come with the corpse and I said it was alright, but I told my husband about the matter.
“My mother reported the case at the Ilaro Police Station, Ogun State, on Friday. But before then, Omolara sent three old men to calm things down; they said they were from Oke Anglican, Ilaro, Ogun State.
“Meanwhile, as the old men were leaving, I took a bike and followed them. Omolola, who said she was in Ibadan, was with the corpse of the girl when the old men joined her. I accused her of killing the girl. Tomiwa’s body was scarred; I am in distress,” she added.
Efforts to reach the policewoman were abortive as her phone was switched off.
When contacted, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, promised to get back to our correspondent on the matter.
He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has honoured some of his palace staff on his seventh coronation anniversary.
In a statement issued by the palace spokesperson, Moses Olafare, on Saturday, the monarch handed out appreciation letters and the sum of N100,000 each to five deserving staff members, three staff members got N200,000 and N250,000 each for two palace aides. One aide got N300,000 while three outstanding staff members got one million naira each. One of them won the star prize; a car worth seven million naira.
Oba Ogunwusi also appreciated his wife, the founder of Hopes Alive Initiative, Olori Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, for her continuous efforts in the area of poverty alleviation and empowerment of the less privileged in the society.

The police in Lagos have commenced investigation into how two teenagers residing at Iyana-Ipaja area sold their organs to a medical doctor in Abeokuta, Ogun state for N200, 000 without the consent of their parents, according to ODUDUWA NEWS.
The teenagers allegedly connived with an adult member of the church and went to a medical doctor at Redwood Specialist Hospital, Abeokuta where their organs were sold for N100, 000 each.
The bubble reportedly bust in September 12, 2022 when one of them started vomiting and she was taken to hospital by her father who thought it was typhoid or malaria and the doctor requested for medical test which later revealed that her anus and private part were damaged.
It was gathered that the sick girl who became unconscious after her health condition was blown open regained consciousness and disclosed to her father that a female member of his church trafficked them to Ogun state where their organs were sold to a medical doctor. The teenagers further alleged that the trafficker convinced them to carry out the illegal act because the one whose father is a Bishop, is not paying them enough money and that she will take them to where they will be handsomely paid N100, 000. They also alleged that the trafficker warned them not to tell their father/parent, that if they do, she will kill them.
Giving details of how the transplant was carried out, the teenagers said that the trafficker, without the consent of their parents took them to Redwood hospital in Abeokuta Ogun State and conspired with the doctor identified as Dr. Durodola and injected them some drugs. They alleged that they were further forcefully taken to a PDF hospital in Surulere, Lagos where they were also coerced and their ovaries/eggs/organs were harvested illegally by the medical Doctor without their consent resulting in severe pains and bleeding.
ODUDUWA NEWS gathered based on the startling revelations, that the teenagers were taken to another hospital in Surulere, Lagos where they were referred to a medical laboratory test and scan which revealed that their liver, uterus, urinary bladder, kidney, spleen, gall bladder were damaged as result of the procedure.
When contacted, the Bishop father of one of the teenagers, told newsmen that when his daughter was taken to the hospital and the test was conducted, her younger ones told him that they knew their sister was sick as she frequented toilet with medical equipment and came out dripping blood.
He said the major suspect, Mrs.Adeleke was staying with her mother in- law in the compound where the church is situated and often attends the church vigil. It was gathered that the other teenager, Favour, stays with the Bishop and he employed her as his secretary in the church with a salary of N20, 000 and his daughter, Precious who is a hairstylist makes Mrs. Adeleke’s hair and gets paid.
It is gathered that the Bishop who was piqued by the ugly development reported the case at Iyana-Ikpaja police station and they later transferred it to State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Bureau, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos for further investigation.
However, the case took a different dimension after lawyer to the aggrieved Bishop, Barrister Ikechukwu Chiaha suspected that the police may have compromised over the case based on revelation by his client that the investigators were soliciting for amicable settlement and payment of N300, 000 which he alleged police will take N200,000. Based on this, Barrister Chiaha then transferred the case to National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, which has commenced fresh investigation.
However, in her reaction, the alleged major suspect Mrs Adeleke told journalists,” the two girls volunteered to donate their eggs to the hospital after listening to my phone conversation with a doctor and in return, they were compensated with N100, 000, of which Favour gave me N20,000 for introducing them to the hospital.”
When contacted, Lagos state Police spokesman, David Hundeyin said; “It was not organ harvesters, the operation was carried out by a professional doctor and the process was legal. All documents were signed and the girls stated in the document that they were above 18 years. The doctor told them about the consequences of feeling pain for two days after and they accepted and donated their organ. Unfortunately, they did not inform their father about it and the father is requesting for N200m as compensation.”.
In their reaction, an official of NAPTIP who pleaded not to be named told newsmen; “I am not aware of the case. I will ask our people.”
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his colleagues, Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) have been conferred with honorary doctorate degrees by the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, a foremost Anglican University in Nigeria.
The three governors were conferred with honorary doctorate degrees in different disciplines on Friday during the 14th Convocation Ceremony of the University at its campus in Oyo.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was honoured with Doctor of Public Administration (Honoris Causa) while Governors Wike and Makinde were conferred Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa) and Doctor of Science in Engineering (Honoris Causa) respectively.
Apart from the three governors, 34 graduands were conferred with Doctor of Philosophy Degree (P.hD) in Mass Communication, English Language, Religious Studies, Business Administration, Computer Science and Economics.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Chief Dr. Wole Olanipekun, said the three recipients of the University’s honorary degrees have practically demonstrated their goodness, adding that the awards were in recognition of their distinguished commitment to improvement and betterment of human life.
He said Governor Sanwo-Olu has been a tested and proven loyal public servant in Lagos State, before emerging as the Governor on May 29, 2019.
“As the 15th Governor of Lagos State, he (Governor Sanwo-Olu) continues to give meritorious service which enhances the lives of Lagos inhabitants in the various sectors of education, health, transportation, trade and commerce. He demonstrates healthy and practical dedication to productive governance,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor of the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, said Governors Sanwo-Olu, Wike and Makinde were selected and conferred with the honorary doctorate degrees because of the good works they have been doing even before becoming governors.
“These personalities are not selected as the award recipients today, just because they are state governors. They have been selected because they are eminently qualified by virtue of the manifestations of their good works before they became governors and the benevolent extension of such works now that they are governors,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the three honorary awardees, Governor Makinde appreciated the Governing Council and management of the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo for the honorary doctorate degrees.
Governor Makinde, who congratulated all the graduands, said the three governors will support Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo for the growth and development of the institution.
