N100bn Bond: Adelabu Lacks Knowledge on Economic Indices – Oyo Govt.

N100bn BOND: Adelabu’s Pedestrian Analysis Shows His Lack Of Knowledge Of Economic Indices– Taiwo Adisa

The Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Taiwo Adisa has lambasted a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Adebayo Adelabu, describing his analysis on the proposed N100bn bond which was approved by Oyo State Executive Council.

The governor’s spokesperson who was a guest on Fresh FM Political Circuit, which was monitored by ODUDUWA NEWS this Saturday described Adelabu’s analysis as pedestrian.

In his word, “the candidate of APC in the 2019 gubernatorial election in Oyo state, Mr Adelabu talking about the issue of bond, loans and finances of the state, I think he should be very circumspect, he should speak in an authoritative manner because he had the privileged of being appointed the CBN deputy governor because of that single responsibility, he should talk as a national economist who has got the grasp of economic indices and he is talking about it with utmost responsibility to not just to the people of Oyo State but to the people of Nigeria.”

“It is very instructive when I say that because when you see people of his class, people that have held that particular position, when they write about Nigeria and world economies, their opinions, postulations or ideas are always respected, their discussions are not pedestrians.”

“This is what is expected of anyone that has represented this state at the CBN level.”
“Pedestrian analysis is not expected from such an individual, when he comes up with ideas that are not fine tuned, knowing full well that the public don’t may not know much about economics as he knows, so when you talk to the people without that sense of responsibility, I think it is deceptive. We are talking about bonds that the federal government of Nigeria under President Buhari has been taking since 2015 in which he kept quiet and Oyo State is about to do similare thing.”
Adisa concluded.

Lagos Promotes 3,756 Civil Servants

The Lagos State Civil Service Commission has announced the promotion of 3,756 Civil Servants who are statutorily due for elevation to the next level after the successful completion of the Year 2020 Promotion Exercise.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the office of the Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, noted that the recent release of promotion letters, concludes the year 2020 Promotion Exercise which kicked off in February 2020 with the briefing of eligible candidates on the conduct of the exercise and the subsequent structured training at various Training Centres.

She explained that this year’s Structured Training had the innovation of additional one-day training on the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of the State Government, stressing that the objective was to emphasise the correlation between the State’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda and Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the aim of encouraging Civil Servants to have a deep understanding of State roles within a global perspective.

According to her, “The Civil Service Commission had concluded arrangements for the Part Two of the Exercise which is the Job Specific Oral Interview that was to run from Monday 23rd March to Thursday, April 16th 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsisting physical distancing policy in the State, the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola announced the suspension of the exercise by the State Government”.

“The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a rare gesture that underscores his benevolence and commitment to the employees’ welfare, approved that only the scores of the Structural Training Programme and Staff Performance Appraisal Development Report be aggregated for Promotion of Eligible Officers irrespective of Cadre and Grade Level”, she added.

While noting that the Governor also directed that the year 2020 Promotion Exercise be concluded in earnest to enable retiring Officers to attain their seniority levels and notional dates of either 1st January or 1st July 2020 before retirement, Fabamwo implored the promoted officers to show greater commitment in the discharge of their statutory duties.

In her words, “It is expected that Civil Servants would reciprocate the magnanimity of the State Government with renewed vigour towards achieving all set objectives and deliverables in their respective spheres”.

Policies for post COVID-19 Economic Recovery, Expert Speaks in Ekiti

An expert on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mr. Micheal Ale, has recommended urgent and robust boost in industrialization for Nigerian’s economy recovery from possible recession.

He highlighted steps towards boosting industrialisation while noting that the emergence of the pandemic has made the latest innovations of robots and artificial intelligence inevitable products for the nation to patronize.

Ale, who is the President of Waterwell, in a release made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, spoke on how Nigeria can maximise her potentials on industrialization by meeting the target of the SDGs 2020, urging the country to key into the global policy on SDGs.

The development expert, who identified the policy of knowledge economy as key to meaningful development, lamented that Nigeria is far behind the developed nations in this regard.

He called on the government to address the root cause of underdevelopment, which he said was caused by inadequate attention to the importance of academic researches.

“We need to now go back to the root cause of our underdevelopment. While watching a documentary about Nigerian agriculture, I saw rice mill being operated and I know in China now rice mill is being operated by robots.

” So invariably, Covid 19 is the beginning of another revolution in industrialization, because we will start talking about chips, robots, and the likes, all these we are still going to import and this is why the issue of knowledge comes in.

“How many of our universities have research outcomes to use. All these developed countries go to their universities, their businessmen can go to the universities and engage them in researches that would help their development.

“They sponsor such researches that can add value to their companies. It doesn’t have to be government alone. This is why I mentioned academics. We have only leveraged on agriculture, we have the pharmaceutical industry, right now, the Covid 19 issue has given us the great opportunity to revamp our industries, especially, the pharmaceutical industry.

Speaking about how to make Nigerian Universities hallmarks of industrialization, Ale said: “It is very achievable, we have the likes of Dangote my good friend, his foundation can go into research, and look into what can be done, you can pick on any university that you think focus on what your industry needs.

“Then you talk to the universities and give them grants for the research. I think the Nigerian government has tetfund and they are going into many research, what have they done with those research outcomes?.

COVID-19: How I Earned N20,000 With My Smartphone In Two Weeks – Adisa Muhammed

There was a day on WhatsApp, a friend of mine posted an advert of an online free training on how to create whiteboard animation videos and link generation. I didn’t look away at the advert, so I clicked on the link and joined the training group.

After the training started, I followed the tutorial accordingly and saw it interesting. At the end of the training a masterclass was introduced and which is not meant to be free, so I have to pay the sum of N800 before I could join. Despite the fact that the organizer of the training is my friend, I didn’t ask him to make it free for me.

I saw it as an opportunity to upgrade and update my skills in graphic design. Even those who doesn’t have any knowledge of graphic designing would have something useful to learn.

Prior to the commencement of the masterclass, I talked to myself that I too can organize such a free training, so I took my time to plan and prepare for organizing a free training on how to create whiteboard animation videos and link generation as well and I created a brand for training which is STARS TECH CONSULT.

I had the believe that people would also participate in my free training as well, because my thought was that what led myself who used to be skeptical of online trainings to par adventure enrolled in one could also make others to enroll.

It was not an easy task for me then because the phone I used to create the instructional videos for the training gave me a lots of stress. The RAM of the phone was low and used to hinder the screen recording process. Some times the recording would just stop itself and got damaged, so I would only have to restart the recording and that led me to uninstall series of applications on my phone just to have more free spaces on the RAM.

I had 176 participants in the first training group, out of which only 15 enrolled in my master class. Before the master class would kicked off, I quickly organized another free training group so I could merge the master classes together. In the second group I had up to 160 participants, of which only 13 enrolled in the master class. Some where passionate about the training while some were not. There was a member who had interest in the class but doesn’t reside here in Nigeria, so he had to contact his dad who lives in Nigeria to make the payment for him.

For every journey, there used to be ups and downs along the road. When I first started I faced a lots of challenges and I felt quit as option. I expressed my challenges to my boss who has been doing his own successfully, he advised me not to give up because he faced a lots when he started at first too.

Conclusively, within the period of two weeks I was about to accumulate up to N20,000 at my comfort home, just with my smartphone. The world is becoming more and more digital everyday, many things are now done electronically; marketing, education, research business and so on. My fellow youths should use their smartphone and internet for needful things and see it as instruments which can be used to develop themselves financially, academically, and as a person.

Explanation On Why Cat is Important

This week, the Louvre Museum in Paris was even forced to close for a day because of its overcrowding problem. (Some union representations for the museum said tourists have stifled  renovation work on the Mona Lisa, crowding them into tight, unworkable spaces.) If you’ve ever wanted to visit the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, or the Statue of Liberty, you should know now: You’ll likely run into hordes of slow-moving, selfie-stick-carrying tourists at any popular tourist attraction.

While not foolproof, there are a few effective strategies in avoiding tourists while visiting popular travel hotspots; just be sure to reserve tickets early and make use of your destination’s city-pass option. If you’re planning ahead, the easiest way to avoid the hordes of tourists is to visit during the off-season, which will vary depending on your destination.

Book During Shoulder or Off-season

In Europe, peak season is summer and off-season generally spans the months of November to March. (“Shoulder season” occurs during the transition months from peak to off-season and back). Meanwhile, Australia’s peak season happens between December and February, when weather conditions are at their best, and low-season takes place from May to August.

If you’re headed on a trip to visit the Statue of Liberty, USA Today recommends visiting during fall or winter when lines are expected to be shorter. Visiting the Eiffel Tower? You should expect wait times as long as two hours during the summer and less than 30 minutes on weekdays during shoulder and off-season, SmarterTravel writes.

Before you even book a flight, you might want to take a look at popular attractions’ availability; as the New York Times writes, tourist attractions like the Statue of Liberty—which require a ticket to visit—can book out months in advance. For this reason, you’ll want to buy a ticket as early as possible, which can usually be done online for major attractions.

You might find that some cities offer city-wide passes to visit a number of attractions, as well. Purchasing a Madrid Card, for example, will let you into a number of attractions in the city, and allow you to skip any lines. (Some cities may offer museum combination-tickets which work similarly, too.) You should research any ticketing options by doing an online search for your destination’s tourism board, for example.
