National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru yesterday took a swipe at those he described as betrayers of the party in the state.

Basiru who addressed his supporters in Yoruba language at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, Osun State during a reception held in his honour said that the betrayers of the party during last elections were disappointed over the recent appointment of caretaker committee of local government areas made by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

According to him, “I implore all of us to work assiduously for the party, God will reward everyone. Those that had benefited from the party and still betray us, we have handed over their matter to God. If you know you are tired of the party, leave but don’t stay and still work against it. Those that betrayed us are now disappointed over the appointment of a caretaker committee for local government areas. Don’t be deceived, this party is the main party that is development oriented.

“Less than one year, those that worked against the interests of Osogbo, are reaping the consequences. Those that they put in government, they are treating them like babies and they don’t know what is in government. They are making unnecessary appointments, they are mediocre.”

He lauded the Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency who organized the event in his honour for their support as he admonished party members to remain focused ahead of subsequent elections.

Earlier, Ondo State APC chairman who spoke on behalf of the South West APC chairmen, Engr. Ade Adetimeyin said, “all of us are physically present. We are here to celebrate with the National Secretary of our party. Like I said, he is a man that is full of pedigree. He has the capacity to lead this party, he is a man that everybody is proud of.”

Meanwhile, a leader of the APC in Ijeshaland, Chief Adewale Bamigbade, has warned the Osun State government not to distribute the fuel subsidy palliative to only members of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

“The 3,000 bags of rice received from the Federal Government, there is an ongoing plan and plot to re-bag the same, tag it Imole De Rice. This is fraud. They want to distribute the rice to only members of PDP. This rice is meant for the entire residents of the state. The food palliative is for all Osun citizens not PDP members.”
