JUST IN: Lagos Dispatch Rider Nabbed With Baby Inside Courier Box

A dispatch rider in Lagos State has just been apprehended with a baby found in his courier box.

The incident, it was learnt, happened in Sangotedo Area of Lagos, as mob descended on the yet-to-be identified rider.

A video of the incident obtained by ODUDUWA NEWS as shared on Twitter showed the rider being beaten by mob as he was being dragged to a police station.

One of the persons in the background was heard saying, “This is the child that was abducted.”

The police are yet to speak on the incident which has set tongues wagging over the high wave of crimes and criminalities in the state.

As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the child being kept in the box were not made clear.

Trigger-Happy Policeman Shoots Student, Colleagues Embark On Protest In Eruwa

ODUDUWA NEWS has gathered that an officer of the Nigerian Police Force fired a shot at one student of the Department of Business Administration of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. The student identified as Akinsuyi Samuel was said to be travelling to Ibadan yesterday alongside his friends in their personal vehicle before they were stopped by some police men and one of the Policemen fired a bullet through the door of the passenger’s seat right inside the car and hit the student.

According to our correspondent in Eruwa, the affected student has been transferred to Ibadan from Awojobi Hospital Eruwa for proper treatment and the Area Commander and DPO had promised to take responsibility of the medical care of the student.

Meanwhile, there was a peace meeting after the incident when students of the institution started protesting and condemning the incident, The meeting had in attendance, Area Commander, DPO, the management of the institution led by the Ag. Rector Dr. Gbade Akinteye, Students’ Union President of the institution and other Student activists from the state level

In the meeting, the Area Commander and DPO disclosed that the said Police has been arrested and transfered to Ibadan, The students representatives would meet him on Monday for identification. The police officers assured students populace of getting justice for the guy because no good parent would be happy with the incident.

The Ag. Registrar and Ag. Rector urged students to remain calm, the situation is under control, the Management of the institution will follow the case appropriately because injury to one is an injury to all. “Welfare of the students populace is the utmost priority of the current management. We were not in town when the incident occurred but we rushed down here because of the love for our students and our primary assignment as management is to protect our students, the management is not happy and we are not going to sleep on the matter until the needful is done”, said Ag. Rector.

Igbo president will bring peace to Nigeria – Obasanjo

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has declared support for an Igbo Presidency in 2023.

Obasanjo, while receiving a 2023 Presidential aspirant, Mao Ohuabunwa on Thursday in Abeokuta said it was time for reconciliation in Nigeria by supporting a president from the Southeast region to emerge in 2023.

The former president stated that southeasterners can bring a lot to the table if elected.

“Beyond bringing unity to Nigeria or being the cement that holds Nigeria together, I believe that Southeasterners can model hard work and entrepreneurship.

“This will help in wealth creation and fight against poverty, which is ravaging Nigeria,” Obasanjo said.

He warned Ohuabunwa that running for Presidency is a tough job.

‘My daughters keep asking me why their mothers are different’ – Davido

Award-winning Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his daughters often ask him the reason they don’t have the same mother.

The father of three said this during an interview with BBC.

He explained that his daughters are growing up and becoming more self aware hence they often ask him questions like the reason they don’t share the same mothers and why they have to live separately.

Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state, says some “Yahoo Yahoo governors” in the All Progressives Congress (APC) supported Mai Mala Buni, Yobe governor, to circumvent the will of party members.

Buni was booted out of office as chairman of the national caretaker committee of the APC after his plan to scuttle the party’s convention fixed for March 26 came to light.

Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger governor, has since been in charge of the party.

Sanwo-olu Suspends NURTW Operations in Lagos state

The Lagos State governor has suspend the operation of NURTW in Lagos state due to the power tussle between the National Body and the State chapter.

Lagos Reporter’s had earlier reports that The leader of the NURTW in Lagos Musiliu Mc Oluomo had pullout of the National Body of the NURTW following is suspension by the body and called on the Governor to suspend the operation of the union in the state.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos commissioner for information, the suspension is part of efforts to douse tension over the recent developments

The Lagos State Government has been watching closely events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers Union (NURTW). There have been claims and counter claims over the control of the union.

The Government has a duty to ensure the safety of lives and property of all Lagosians and visitors. Therefore, there is an urgent need to douse the unnecessary tension generated by the leadership tussle in the NURTW and protect the citizenry from the likely fallout of the situation.

After considering the
provisions of the law, the Government hereby suspends the activities of NURTW, which must cease to operate in all parks and garages in Lagos State. The Government will set up a Committee to immediately take control of the parks and garages. Members of the committee will be key stakeholders in the sector.

The Government’s position is premised on its responsibility to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in all parks and garages in Lagos State.

JUST IN: MC Oluomo-Led NURTW Pulls Out From National Body

The Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has not received any letter suspending him, his spokesman, Jimoh Buhari, said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, ODUDUWA NEWS has just gathered that “MC Oluomo held an emergency meeting following his suspension from national body.

In the recently concluded meeting, MC Oluomo has announced withdrawal of Lagos chapter of NURTW from the national body while affirming his position as the Lagos NURTW chairman.

ODUDUWA NEWS had reported earlier today that MC Oluomo was suspended by the NURTW national leadership in Abuja, for insubordination, misconduct and Incitement.

The 46-year-old was placed on indefinite suspension “to prevent chaos as he was already inciting members against the Union, an act that is against the constitution of the organization”.

But reacting to the viral suspension letter, MC Oluomo in the just concluded meeting following his suspension from national body said: “As far as we are concerned, we are not aware of the suspension because we have not received any letter from the national leadership.

“A leader of an organisation cannot be suspended on social media and I still remain the Lagos State Chapter Chairman.

Lagos CP orders security beef up following MC Oluomo’s suspension

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has directed all area commanders and Divisional Police Officers to beef up security and maintain visibility in their area of coverage.

This is coming on the heels of the indefinite suspension of the Lagos State Chapter Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, over alleged misconduct, insubordination, and inciting members of the state chapter against the apex body.

The state police boss in an interview on Thursday said a directive has been given on the deployment and patrol of all motor parks across. He assured Lagos residents of adequate security of life and property.

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was suspended earlier today, and the police boss said their move was necessary to curb any form of violence that may arise.

The Transport union also directed MC Oluomo to immediately hand over the mantle of leadership to his deputy chairman and release all property belonging to the body in his possession to State Secretary, in a bid to avoid any leadership vacuum in the state.
