The paramount ruler of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal has directed residents and indigenes of Ede to vote massively for Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke and ignore 2026 false promise of governorship rotation to Osun West.
He admonished people yesterday at Eid Praying Ground while throwing his support to PDP gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming July 16th governorship election in Osun.

Recall this newspaper had earlier reported how several taditional rulers in Osun believed by people to be maintaining neutrality in politics were seen openly declaring support for their preferred candidates.
Earlier last week, Oluwo of Iwo had promised to Garner 90,000 Bloc votes for the incumbent Governor of Osun State currently seeking a return to government house.
Amidst backlashes from the people, the traditional rulers seem to let the sleeping dog lie as various politicians throng their palaces to seek support for their gubernatorial ambitions.
Popular Yoruba radio and television host Alhaji Abiodun Oropo, commonly known as “Oyinmomo joojo,” has passed away.
His untimely illness-related death occurred late last evening, according to source from relatives.
It was learnt that he became suddenly ill two days ago. He was rushed to various medical facilities for treatment, but nothing worked until yesterday, when he passed away.
He had well-known radio programmes on FaajiFm, Dux fm, and various other radio stations in the south west up to his death. He was an active participant in the Nigerian Association of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters.
Today at noon, the funeral starts at his Orile Agege home.
The Management of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, says it has reversed its earlier decision to add a N1,000 electricity fee to the service charge on every patient admitted in the hospital.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan by the hospital’s spokesperson, Mr Toye Akinrinlola.
The statement quoted the Director of Administration of the hospital, Stephen Oladejo, as saying that there was never a time the hospital charged such a fee.
It said that there was no time the hospital charged such fee and that it was more concerned with adequate healthcare delivery to Nigerians.
It said the memo being referred to was an internal document which was not implemented after a thorough review from internal mechanisms for such issues and had since been withdrawn.
The statement said at no point did the hospital charge electricity fee.
“We are assuring the public that we shall continue to deliver effective and efficient healthcare to Nigerians, irrespective of status,” he said.
Oladejo reiterated the commitment of the hospital to delivery of optimal healthcare services to the many patients who thronged the hospital daily.
According to him, the the hospital has been magnanimous on several occasions by writing off unpaid medical bills.
“It is also important to state that the University College Hospital does not turn back patients and that on several occasions, had written off bills incurred by indigent patients.
“Our doors are always open for people to cross check our activities,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the tertiary hospital had in an internal memo dated June 21, 2022, leaked to the media, proposed N1000 utility bill to be added to the service charge of patients seeking to access care in the hospital.
Four members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were injured in a clash after supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) invaded the APC secretariat in Ede South Local Government Area.
PDP candidate Ademola Adeleke hails from Ede. It was gathered that the clash happened about 3pm yesterday as the PDP supporters marched to the Oba Laoye Grammar School, venue of their campaign.
A party member, Abdulateef Usman, who witnessed the attack, recounted: “The PDP members were holding their governorship rally in Ede today. They trekked from Oke gather to Oba Laoye Grammar School. The APC party secretariat in Ede South is on that road, via St Peters, and while they moved, some of the PDP members attacked the APC secretariat. “Four APC members were injured and property destroyed, including bikes and vehicles.”
But spokesperson of the Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Olawale Rasheed, said “APC members attacked our supporters during the rally because they are envious that the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal endorsed Adeleke.”
The Lagos State Government has sympathised with residents over heavy flash flooding experienced in several parts of the State, including Oko-Oba in Agege, urging everyone to remain vigilant and cautious.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello, explained that the flash flooding experienced in some areas, especially old Oko-Oba Road, resulted from the over 10 hour-rainfall that overflowed the Oko-Oba Canal Channel presently undergoing expansion.
His words: “The Oko-Oba Canal in Agege is being expanded to allow for the containment of more stormwater to reduce flooding in the area”.
Bello advised motorists and residents to exercise caution and restraint while wading through floods during heavy rainfall because of the inherent danger.
Pointing out that the expansion project was stalled due to the intensity of rain within the past few weeks, the Commissioner gave an assurance that the Lagos State Government is committed to timely completion of the project.
He clarified that the coastal nature of Lagos makes it inevitable to experience flooding during a heavy downpour, especially in cases of the type of high-intensity rainfall experienced in the last 36 hours.
While assuring residents that the risen water level will recede into the drainage channels a few hours after the heavy downpour, Bello appealed to Lagosians to remain cautious as the heavy rains will persist until the end of August.
“All those in depressed and low-lying areas in the State at this period must be wary of the water level and ready to move to high areas during the rainfall to safeguard lives and property”, the Commissioner said.
He enjoined residents to support the efforts of Emergency Flood Abatement Gangs of the State by not dumping refuse into drains and canals.
A group of students from the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic are demanding justice for one of their colleagues who was allegedly murdered by Amotekun operatives in cold blood.
The students stormed the Ondo state government house with the corps of the deceased student identified as Ademola Alayori, in protest of his untimely death while demanding that the Amotekun agents that killed him be brought to book.
It was gathered that before he passed on, Ademola narrated the incident in a voice note that was shared amongst his schoolmates. He stated that on July 4, 2022, he was at home and had just finished eating and was about to drink water when his brother who is an apprentice at a barbing saloon walked into the house.
Suddenly, some men barged into their apartment and when he (Ademola) asked what they were looking for, he was ignored and instructed by the local police to move out alongside other occupants of the house. He further alleged that he was shot in the process and dragged by the operatives to their office where he was kept in a cell with a dog that was licking the blood from his wound.
He added that from the cell, he was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Owo after his condition worsened, and thereafter an operation was carried out on him. He later died in the hospital.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has congratulated Muslims in the State and the country at large on the occasion of this year’s Eid-El-Kabir.
Governor Akeredolu charged Muslim faithful to reflect on the essence of the Islamic festival by remembering the less privilege and rededicating themselves to the commands of the Almighty Allah.
“The Eid-El-Kabir is more than just a celebration. It reflects the gains in obedience and trust in the Almighty Allah. It preaches sacrifice that must be made for renewed hope.
“We urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to imbibe the lessons of this season. We must be deliberate in our commitment to promote peace and tolerance in our daily lives. Our commitment to the cause of humanity must be unwavering.
“This celebration is another opportunity to express and show the uniqueness of the Islamic faith. As Muslims, we must show to the world that our faith teaches peace, tolerance and charity. “We must stand against terror acts and resist these calculated attacks on the people and the country at large. Let us support government at all levels to defeat these cowards whose only aim is to kill and maim innocent people.
“On our part, we shall continue to prioritise the security of lives and property of our people. We have seen the need to redouble our efforts. We have put in place necessary security measures to further deepen our efforts to make the State safe. No human live will be cheapened under our watch.
“We call on all our mosques to install, use and maintain CCTV devices and other secret cameras in their premises as well as employ well trained security personnel to man the entry and exit points to their premises.” The Governor said.
Governor Akeredolu also called on the people to be vigilant and report suspicious faces and movement to the security agencies.
“Give our Security Agencies, in particular Amotekun corps all necessary support. Any attempt to undermine the good works of Amotekun corps will be counterproductive. We also call on our people particularly our students not to embark on mob actions that sell them out as supporting criminality in any guise. Students have a duty to expose known criminals around.” The Governor added.
The Governor assured of adequate security during and after the Eid-El-Kabir celebration, adding that officers of the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies have been deployed to strategic places across the state to maintain law and order.
Victor Omololu Olunloyo, the governor of Oyo State in 1983, has been moved to the intensive care unit at University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.
ODUDUWA NEWS had earlier reported that Olunloyo, who is the father of social media journalist Kemi Olunloyo, died Friday afternoon in Ibadan.
However, the family confirmed that the 87-year-old man is not dead but in a critical condition that needs prayer.

The Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin says Nigeria will witness the desired development and growth if the citizens and the leaders sacrifice their selfish and personal interests for the overall collective gains and benefits of the nation as a whole.
The Speaker stated this in his sallah message to Nigerian Muslims as they join the rest of Islamic adherents across the world to celebrate 2022 Ileya festival.
He said because of the unstable economic and social conditions, Nigerians are not ready to sacrifice anything for the nation to get out of its present doldrums and predicament.
” It is another feast of sacrifice – Eid-l-Adha or Eid-l-Kabir or Ileya as fondly called in Yoruba land. This is in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s resolve to sacrifice his son Ismael but whom Allah replaced with a ram. So, we are celebrating obedience and high level of faith exhibited by our forefather known by everyone as the Father of faith. No wonder Judaism, Christianity and indeed Islam all lay claim to Abraham’s superior and elevated status and level of faith and believe in God. According to him, no sacrifice is too much or too little to make by Nigerians at this time for our nation to survive all the problems currently bedeviling her.
