ODUDUWA NEWS has gathered that the kidnapped Poultry farmer, Alfa Soliu Adesola popularly known as Alokongbo has been released.
A family source who spoke under the condition of anonymity revealed to ODUDUWA NEWS. It was said that the kidnapped Poultry farmer was set free this yesterday by his abductors after a week in captivity.
Recall, the family had earlier hinted ODUDUWA NEWS how the kidnappers communicated with the them to demand a sum of Thirty Million Naira as ransom before the farmer would be released.
It was not revealed to us whether a ransom was paid to the abductors.
The Oyo State government has announced Alhaji Oluwatomiwa Omolewa, former Park Management System (PMS) Secretary, as the new Chairman.
According to a statement signed by the Oyo Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Alhaji Kasali Ajisafe Lawal aka Baba Bola will also serve as the secretary.
The appointment is part of the reorganization of the PMS embarked upon by the state government.
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved the rehabilitation of some facilities at the NYSC orientation camp, Ede to make the environment conducive for corp members posted to the state for their one year mandatory youth service who will undergo orientation course at the camp
The permanent secretary, ministry of youth, sports development and special needs, Mrs Taiwo Oladunjoye stated this on IMOLE AYO, an enlightenment programme put in place by the office of the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed to promote the activities of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration on OSBC Radio and Television channels
Mrs Oladunjoye added that the governor gives priority to the welfare of youths in Osun State, adding that he has sponsored no fewer than two thousand youths on vocational training like fashion designing, hair dressing, painting among others
According to her, all the affected youths are now employers of labour and they are doing well in their various fields
According to the PS, ministry of youth sports development and special needs, governor Adeleke has also provided needed funds for the uplift of the sports sector in Osun State noting that this gesture has served as an incentive for athletes and footballers to excel in the various competitions they feature in.
Mrs. Taiwo Oladunjoye also commended Governor Adeleke for distributing mobility aides to about two hundred and forty persons with disabilities as well as thick umbrellas, skin cream and magnifying glasses for those with albinism among others
She urged the youths not to engage in social vices but be good ambassadors of the state of the living spring wherever they find themselves.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Dino Melaye, has challenged the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, to a show of support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
The governor, a PDP member, is widely believed to have supported the campaign bid of President Bola Tinubu who sought election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aggrieved by Atiku’s emergence in the party’s primaries as opposed to a southerner, Makinde had joined a group of five PDP governors known as the G5 in the lead-up to the February 25 presidential election.
With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaring Tinubu as the winner, Atiku and others have filed petitions at the tribunal to challenge the victory.
Speaking on Saturday at a retreat for PDP elected officials held in Bauchi State, the Oyo governor said, “We were through a gruelling election, and whether we want to admit it or not, we had issues amongst ourselves during the election, but you know what?
“The healing process will have to start, and the healing process will start now. We must focus on things that will unite us. We must, as a matter of urgency, be forward-looking.”
During the question-and-answer portion of the event, Melaye redirected the governor’s words to him.
Asking Makinde to support Atiku’s claim that the election process was compromised, Melaye argued that the gesture “will show that the healing has truly started.”
“I just want to start by appreciating the comment of Governor Seyi Makinde this morning, particularly where he said, ‘Healing starts now,’” he said. “And the way to start that healing is, I would be glad if between now, next week, and two weeks that we’ll be at the tribunal, to see Governor Seyi Makinde walk into the tribunal venue and sit down, to support the party, our candidate.”
According to the Kogi PDP candidate, it would demonstrate to Nigerians that the healing has started and show the world the PDP is united.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji on Friday joined other dignitaries to pay last respect at the final burial ceremony of the late former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi.
The Governor who remarked on the exemplary life of the later former Deputy Governor, urged the children and family of the deceased to be consoled by their father’s good works, remarkable achievements and strong legacies which would take some time to surpass.
Speaking at the burial service held at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Anglican Communion, Okesa Ado- EKiti, Oyebanji said Egbeyemi lived a fulfilled and impactful life, therefore, should not be mourned but celebrated.
At the event, which was also graced by the state Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye; Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji; former Governors Otunba Niyi Adebayo; Dr. Kayode Fayemi; his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; former Deputy Governors, Prof. Modupe Adelabu; Chief Paul Alabi and Surveyor Abiodun Aluko as well as Senator Bamidele Opeyemi, the Governor noted that the former Deputy Governor was a distinguished leader, who served the State meritoriously in different capacities and continued to contribute to the progress and development of the state till he breathed his last.
While assuring the children and the family of his continued support, Governor Oyebanji charged the children to emulate their father’s humility, doggedness, patriotism, and kindheartedness to uphold his legacy.
“I will just encourage those of us that are grieving that having listened to the sermon by our Lord Bishop, we should encourage ourselves that daddy, though is not here, but he’s not dead, he is just sleeping if you believe in resurrection, we know that if we lived right we will still meet at the feet of Jesus Christ, so there is no need to grieve at all.
“God will give us the strength to weather this storm. I assure you we are in this together and we will hold each other’s hand because we have a duty to also uphold his legacy because that’s the most important thing now. He has played his role and he has gone.” The Governor asserted
In his homily, the Bishop of Ekiti Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Andrew Olusola said late Egbeyemi was a man of faith who loved God and the people, as well as a generous man and a selfless Christian.
Bishop Olusola added that the late Egbeyemi fought for the diocese of the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel without collecting a dime from the church.
Others at the colorful service include Senator Ayo Arise, speaker Ekiti Stete House of Assembly, Rt Hon Bunmi Adelugba, her deputy, Rt Hon Hakeem Jamiu; Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Akinduro; Head of Service, Barrister Bamidele Agbede, members of the state House of Assembly and state executive council as well as representatives of about 20 traditional rulers.
The Government of Ondo State has called on the people to ignore the rumor of the death of n the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON.
The Government made the disclosure today through the Commissioner of Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju as read in part:
“We have been inundated with calls and messages concerning the state of health of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON. We had chosen to ignore this wicked fabrication until it appeared that certain persons seek to draw political mileage from the disinformation.
“Though the Governor has been indisposed, he has been attending to state matters and delegating functions to functionaries of the Government, when necessary.
“We enjoin the members of the public to ignore the rumour. Aketi is very much alive.
Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, IEDPU, has condemned an offensive billboard advertisement portraying the people of Ilorin as drunkards.
The union, an umbrella sociocultural organisation, expressed it concern in a statement issued on Friday in Ilorin.
The statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Nurudeen Ibrahim, called on relevant authorities to order those responsible for the alleged offensive advertisement to swiftly remove it.
The union said the advertisement, promoting a particular brand of alcoholic beer on a billboard along Offa Garage Road, Ilorin, deliberately portrayed the people of Ilorin as drunks.
According to Ibrahim, the message contained in the advertisement, made reference to Ilorin and its people as drunkard, “to si e gege bi Omo Ilorin”.
He said that the information was clearly offensive, stressing that the advertisement is deliberately planted to provoke the people of Ilorin emirate.
Mr Ibrahim said the advertisement was a liberty taken too far, and called for its removal “to discourage a resort to self-help from the concerned members of the community”.
He noted that advertisement of products that seemed to infringe on the culture of a given community should always be discouraged.
Mr Ibrahim said that the message on the billboard attaching alcohol to the people of Ilorin, a predominantly Muslim community, was a deliberate provocative act.
The union therefore appealed to the relevant government agencies to remove the advertisement and warned advertising agencies to be meticulous in their services.
Mr Ibrahim however appealed to the people of Ilorin emirate to remain calm and peaceful while necessary actions were being taken in resolution of the matter.
The Peoples Democratic Party has demanded resignation of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu SAN.
In a statement made available to newsmen by State Party as read in party:
“The handlers and managers of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, Governor of Ondo State, have once again proved that, they are not on top of their assignments. They will rather take everybody in the state for granted.
“Since Sahara Reporters reported that the governor is bedridden and incapacitated, Akeredolu’s handlers responded by fueling public anxiety and suspicion, instead of telling the State, where exactly he is, or getting him to address Ondo State, from wherever he is on planet earth.
“When Akeredolu did not return to his duty post after his celebrated annual leave in March this year, tongues started wagging. At the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, Akeredolu was conspicuously absent.
“The deafening silence from government information machinery suddenly saturated social media space with old videos of Akeredolu dancing and singing praises.
“On the eve of the inauguration of 10th Ondo State House of Assembly, there were reports of an ‘Owo cabal’ led by Akeredolu’s heir apparent, Babajide mobilising Members-elect to make a legislator from Owo Speaker, as a fall back position to retain the leadership of the state in Owo, in the event of the worst happening, after impeaching the incumbent Deputy Governor.
“These speculations almost put the state on edge until this morning when the Ondo State House of Assembly retained the present power structure of Speakership of the Assembly in Ondo Central Senatorial District.
“If Akeredolu’s handlers had done the needful, the state would have been spared the unnecessary anxiety.
As mortals, any human being can fall sick. Whether in public office or private life. Rotimi Akeredolu is employed by the people of Ondo State, maintained with taxpayers’ money. So, it is criminal and a great disservice to keep mum over his health status and his whereabouts.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ondo State Chapter, demands that, those hiding the governor should tell the people where he is to save the state from speculation.
In 2010, when then President Umar Yar’Adua was incapacitated due to ill-health, Akeredolu was one of the most vociferous voices, calling for his resignation and allowing the then Vice-President to take over. If for whatever reason, Akeredolu can no longer discharge his official responsibilities, the most reasonable thing to do is to hand over to the Deputy Governor as required by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
Our party joins millions of Ondo State people to pray for Akeredolu’s quick recovery, but nobody should play politics with his ill-health. Nobody should ground the state beyond its present state. Let Akeredolu resign, if he is no longer fit to be governor”.
ODUDUWA NEWS has gathered that the sum of Thirty Million Naira ransom has been demanded from the family of kidnapped Poultry farmer in Iseyin.
According to the family of the victim who revealed to ODUDUWA NEWS, the kidnapped Poultry farmer was kidnapped at his farmland at Corner-Odoogba, along Ipapo road, Iseyin area of Oyo State.
The victim identified as Soliu Alokongbo said to have been abducted last week Wednesday and was whisked away to an unknown location.
The abductors thereafter communicated with the family of the victim, demanding the sum of Thirty Million Naira to set him free.
Iseyin has been witnessing a surge in kidnapping in recent time as no fewer than five reported cases have been recorded in the last few months.
