Governor Sanwo-Olu joined members of his officials to ride the blue rail line which began operations in Lagos State today.
Sanwo-Olu after the test run of the blue rail line was quoted in a statement made available to newsmen as read in part:
“We began commercial operations for the long-awaited Blue Line Rail from Marina to Mile 2 as we put #LagosOnTrack together.
“With a starting 50% discount on all public transport fares with the Cowry Card, we are ensuring that Lagosians can move freely in pursuit of economic and leisure activities
“The Blue Line Rail is equipped with state-of-the-art security features, including 300+ CCTV cameras and command centres at all stations as well as an independent power plant that ensures the trains can have uninterrupted movement.
“We are starting partial passenger operations from 6:30-10am and 4-9:30pm. We’re kicking off with 12 trips for 2 weeks, gradually increasing to 76 trips/day.
“Remember, this is YOUR project, Lagos. Let’s use it responsibly and with pride. There is no room for vandalism or disturbances.
“The Blue Line Rail is one of the rail projects designed to make Lagos a fully interconnected city and it will transform our city’s transport system.
“We remain committed to transforming every area of our great state”.
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has formally inaugurated the special and standing committees of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly.
The special committees which are seven in number are Selection Committee, House Services Committee, Public Petitions, Justice and Judiciary Committee, Public Accounts Committee, Ethics and Priviledges Committee and Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT Committee.
The other Stannding Committees chaired among the Honourable members are Twenty – two in numbers.
Performing the inauguration on behalf of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi said “Committee system in the legislature is legendary and virtually all democratic legislatures are operating Committee system to deliver on their statutory functions and assignments.
He observed that the legislature is to make, review and repeal laws for the peace , orderliness and well-being of citizens, noting that the various committes tasked with oversight functions on ministries , department and agencies for the purposes of ensuring that the laws passed by the legislature are implemented.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin further revealed that the leadership of the 10th Assembly is working round the clock to carve out jurisdictions for each standing committees for effective operations and to address the problems of overlapping duties and responsibilities.
In her opening remarks , the Clerk of the House, Pastor ( Mrs.) Oludara Awe who said the work of committees in legislative takes about 70% of the whole legislative business, urged committees members to discharge their oversight functions with the fear of God.
The one – day inauguration ceremony featured various papers presentation by seasoned resource persons on topics such as the Role of Committees in Managing Legislative Executive Relations, The Role of Legislative Committee in Enhancing Legislative Performance and Committee in the Legislature.
Six persons have been confirmed dead in a multiple road accident on Saturday morning at Imesi-Ile.
This was made known in a First Information Report, FIR, by the spokesperson of the Osun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Agnes Ogungbemi, on behalf of the Sector Commander, Henry Benemaisia.
According to the report, the crash occurred along Imesi-Ile Hill due to brake failure and loss of control.
It involved two vehicles; a red-coloured DAF commercial trailer and a blue-coloured MACK commercial trailer, which had no registration numbers.
A total number of 17 male adults were involved in the crash, and 11 sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to the report, “Recovered items, victims properties were taken by the personnel of the Nigerian Police to their station in Imesi-Ile.
“Five dead victims were taken to UniOsun Teaching Hospital Osogbo by the police personnel attached to Imesi-Ile Police Division before the arrival of FRSC team.
“One dead male victim was trapped under the truck and the FRSC team employed the extricating machine in order to removed the trapped body from under the vehicle.”
ODUDUWA NEWS has just gathered that the kidnapped farm manager, Olayinka Folarin Adewale who was kidnapped at Irede Farm, along Igbooga Village, Ado-Awaye, Iseyin Local Government of Oyo State has finally regained freedom.
It was gathered that the 38-year-old farm manager regained freedom yesterday night after a ransom has been paid to the abductors.
A family source who spoke to ODUDUWA NEWS under the condition of anonymity revealed that between Two to Three Million Naira was paid to the kidnappers before they released the him.
Recall, Folarin was abducted last week Thursday at exactly 4pm while he was supervising activities in the farm.
The kidnappers who stormed his farm on Thursday shot sporadically and exchanged firepower with security guard manning the farm before they eventually overpowered him by inflicting injuries on his head which eventually paved way for them to succeed in kidnapping the farm manager.
The security guard identified as Alaarabon was later taken to nearest hospital but he could not be saved as he was eventually declared dead.
Our Correspondent reached out to the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso on the incident but he neither responded nor gave hint of the action of the Police to rescue the victim.
The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has predicted the possibility of Naira bouncing back and this time greater than the United States dollar.
Adeboye gave this prediction during the Church’s monthly thanksgiving service on Sunday, monitored by our correspondent with the September theme; ‘Uncommon Miracles’.
According to the revered Clergy, there was a period when Naira, competed favourably with United States dollars.
He said, “The days when Naira will be stronger will come back; those glorious days will return when that happens you will know.”
He explained how God granted him usual testimonies, some of which many people couldn’t believe.
“Miracle is totally unusual. God can give you a miracle that will be difficult to share,” Adeboye added.
The Nigeria Police Force is worried over the discovery of gas pistol( Spyder Victor) recovered from a robbery gang in Lagos.
The gun, the first of its kind in Nigeria, was recovered from a suspected robber on Eko Bridge.
The police said they were still studying the gun to know how it came into the country, and why the gang decided to go for the make.
Unfortunately, the prime suspect, who his gang members claimed that only him could say the source of the gun and why he decided to go for the kind, escaped arrest by jumping into the Lagos Lagoon.
The police are currently searching for the suspect whether dead or alive.
The gang member whose gun was recovered in his possession, told the police at the command headquarters, Ikeja, while he was being paraded among other suspects, that the prime suspect abandoned the gas pistol and jumped inside the lagoon.
The suspect claimed that he didn’t know anything about the source of the gas gun only the prime suspect that could say the source of the gun to the police.
According to police investigator, the police would do everything possible to get to the root of the matter.
Lagos State Commissioner, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa,who paraded the suspect and other suspects , described the gun,as a unique gun, Spyder Victor, “we will get to the root of the mater.They were two suspects ,but one jumped to death into the Lagoon from the Eko Bridge”.
The CP said, he had never seen such a gun since he joined the force.
Movie lovers who have seen Jagun Jagun, the Nigerian action thriller made by Femi Adebayo Salami, may not know that some structures in the movie are unreal. One of them that warrants a significant mention is Ogundiji’s mansion, a computer-generated CGI image. Legit.ng caught up with Davies David Enioluwa, the artist who did the work. He told the story of how the mansion and other artificial additions to the movie were created using CGI and animations.
He told Legit.ng that he has always loved the creative arts since childhood. Davies said his career choice as an artist was influenced by his father, who is also an artist.
He stated: “I hail from Ibadan, Oyo State. I come from a family of four, which includes a younger sibling. My introspective nature has been a part of me since childhood. I’ve always been more of an observer and thinker than a talker. This disposition has shaped me into someone who values observation over constant speech. Interestingly, my father’s background as a visual artist greatly influenced my career path as a CG Artist.”
How Davies David became a artist Initially, Davies set out to study law at the University of Lagos, but later changed his mind. He told his parents he would like to switch to fine and creative arts, earning him three years of idleness at home. He refused to proceed to school to study law until he was allowed to enrol for fine arts.
“My educational journey has taken me through several schools. During my upbringing, I attended three different primary schools and three secondary schools, which adds a bit of a humorous touch to my experiences. After completing my secondary education, I initially aspired to become a lawyer. I prepared for exams, including JAMB, and had commendable results. However, there was a moment when I was scheduled for an interview at UNILAG. Close to that day, I told my parents: “I don’t want to study law; I want to do fine art and become an artist.” Those were my exact words. Although this choice led to three additional years at home, I was resolute in my decision and willing to endure the delay to follow my passion. Ultimately, I secured admission to study fine arts and design at the Polytechnic Ibadan. I am immensely grateful for this opportunity, as it has led me to where I am today. Without this crucial step, I wouldn’t have realized my true potential and passion for art.”

Although he did an 8-month course in graphics design, he said he is mostly self-thought as he started picking skills online as early as 2016. His words: “I didn’t exactly study CGI formally. My journey began as a hobby that grew from my natural talent. I had a knack for inventing things from my imagination, like crafting characters and stories that came to life through drawings. Back in nursery and primary school, during breaks, I’d draw these comic characters, tell my friends stories about them, and they always looked forward to them. My dad, a traditional artist skilled in various media, inspired me with his work, even though I didn’t quite grasp my future path then. I would often experiment with his tools, which sometimes led to me getting serious scolding. As I got older, I discovered cartoons (mostly at friends’ houses) and became captivated by their movement. I would excitedly discuss these animated characters with anyone who would listen. My fascination deepened during junior high and persisted through high school.”
How Davies became a CGI artist for movies It was when he enrolled for a formal course in graphics design that he made the decision to start creating art for movies. Narrating how he began, he said: “In 2016, I started learning to draw professionally, but it was tough because I was self-teaching. I looked for art schools in Nigeria, but most were abroad and beyond my family’s financial means. So, I mainly practised using online resources and books. During this phase, I realized I wanted to create art for films and animations, even though it wasn’t entirely clear yet. A friend suggested Andrew Loomis’ books, which laid my drawing foundation. In 2017, I took an important step by enrolling in a media academy in Lagos for an 8-month professional graphic design course. It was incredibly helpful.

According to him, his growth has been shaped by his time at Anthill Studios, where he has worked on various projects and expanded his skills.
“Despite not having a formal education in CG art, I’m eager to pursue one someday. To summarise, four key things have fueled my progress: interactions with people, online resources like books and videos, paid courses, and hands-on project experience,” he stated. Davies gets the opportunity to work on Jagun Jagun For Davies to have worked on the post-production of a big movie like Jagun Jagun was something he would never forget. He said he had always known that one day he would make his impact felt in a big movie.
“For me, working on a movie like Jagun Jagun was an experience that I have always imagined to happen. It felt like a manifestation of a long imagined experience. Although my work was post-production based, which means that I didn’t need to go on the set because what I do is majorly behind the screens (Computer). I have always wanted to be a part of projects like this, where I get to interpret someone’s idea and bring it to life, and I am glad I got to do that on Jagun Jagun.”
Challenges Davies faced while working on Jagun Jagun Of course, creating art for Jagun Jagun came with its own challenges. Davies said he embarked on extensive research to create what people could believe was real.
He said: “First of all, every work of art in production has its challenges. Jagun Jagun is a big project and it also came with its own challenges, especially in my department. On this project, I worked hand in hand with the VFX team at Anthill Studios, which was led by Mr Niyi Akinmolayan, where I had to create most of the CG assets that were used in the film. Creating Ogundiji’s mansion was a lot of work because it wasn’t an ordinary one, nor was it common in that era. So I had to create something that was believable enough to make people think and agree that a mansion like that could have existed in that era.

I had to invest quite a number of time into doing a lot of research and studies. I didn’t really get much because something like that had not been done before, so it was more of creative thinking and execution for me. Also, while working on it, I had to work with a tight deadline which is something that is quite common in production. However, I am glad it all came out really great!”
Davies created Gbotija’s coffin in Jagun Jagun
Apart from Ogundiji’s famous mansion, there were other things that Davies created in the movie. He told Legit.ng about them: “I created the coffin that was sunk in the water that had Gbotija in it. After creating, Eri Umusu, the lead animator in Anthill Studios did the awesome animation. I also created the weapon crates that were put in Ogundiji’s palace ( the scene where he was telling Gbogunmi that some Westerners brought some gifts to him). I also got to create Ogundiji’s war axe in 3D as well as a pillar in the palace. This was later used to create the animation where the axe flew back to Ogundiji’s hands after it cut off Jigan’s (Odunlade Adekola) hand. Bukky Awomolo, the senior animator at Anthill worked on animating that, and it came out well. I am sure many people didn’t know it was all CGI.”
A Nigerian lawyer, Bolanle Cole, has threatened to sue controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable following his recent performance at the Nigerian Bar Association concert.
He called out the Zazuu Zeh crooner and demanded that he refunds the money paid to him for the performance which attracted heavy criticism.
The lawyer took to his Twitter account to disclose his plans while issuing a public notice that if Portable fails to refund the fee following his ‘sub par performace’ then he will take legal steps.
A video from the NBA concert ‘Unbarred’ which went viral, showed the singer climbing a pole and singing his songs in an electrifying manner.
Bolanle wrote; “Portable should refund the money paid him to perform at the unbarred.
Take notice that if Portable does not comply within 14days, I will be proceeding to court to file law suit against him.”
The Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi has announced the commencement of the 40 percent Peculiar Allowance to Civil Servants, as the present administration remains committed to recognising and appreciating the diligent efforts of the workers.
Talabi, who stated this in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta emphasised that the Peculiar Allowance was paid in fulfillment of the promises by Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration to cushion the effect of the economic hardship.
The State’s scribe explained that the purpose of the allowance was to boost the capacity of the workers for better productivity at the present time, adding that conversion of the government buses to Compressed Natural Gas by the present administration would be an added advantage to ease workers’ and residents’ mobility.
According to him, “The plan to make the payment is what was agreed on with labour unions to cushion the effect on fuel subsidy removal, apart from the payment of N10,000 to the workers in the State for three months, Peculiar Allowance is also being paid to every Civil Servant and it is going to be for a while until the new minimum wage will be put in place’’.
Meanwhile, workers in the State have expressed delight over the payment of the allowance which has reflected in their salaries,
It would be recalled that the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun promised the Labour leaders in the wake of fuel subsidy that his government would pay 40 percent of the basic salary tagged, Peculiar Allowance, and additional payment of N10,000 palliatives for three months which commenced in July,2023.
Consequently, an announcement that it had taken delivery of 3,000 bags of grains from the Federal Government which would be distributed to all, as a committee has been set up to ensure even and adequate distribution.
Speaking, a staff of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Niyi Akinbobola, commended the strides of the government towards enhancing workers’ welfare in all ramifications, saying,’’ Payment of the Peculiar Allowance is a pleasant surprise.
Also speaking, Mrs. Doyin Okulalu of the Bureau of Lands and Survey noted that the workers would always be grateful to the present administration for his magnanimity in alleviating the hard time that workers might be going through as a result of the subsidy removal.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has caution the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter againt hoarding ofPremium Motor Spirit, or PMS.
During a courtesy call from the IPMAN leadership, the Governor issued the warning. He also stated that his government would never permit the association to put State residents through unfavorable hardship in order to obtain the good.
Adeleke emphasized that IPMAN is crucial to the economy of the nation and that whatever happens to gasoline will have significant effects on the economy.
While promising to meet with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, he assured them that he would continue to include them in the creation of policy while also promising to meet with them to help facilitate the process of reviving the shuttered Ibadan petroleum depot.
“I pledge to IPMAN that I will consider their numerous requests with a view to providing them with the necessary assistance.
“I will speak with Governor Seyi Makinde” In order to facilitate the process of reviving the dead Ibadan depot, he stated.
Earlier, Dr. Bukola Mutiu, the Chairman of IPMAN, appealed to the State Government for assistance in revitalizing the Ibadan petroleum depot, which served both Osun and Oyo States.
It will be less stressful to buy petroleum products without having to travel to Lagos and other States insisted Mutiu, if the government can fix it .Mutiu insisted
The Chairman also asked for help in areas such as reliable power generation and the provision of more buses for them to use in order to facilitate movement and member monitoring, while also urging the government to support the association by offering grants to aid them in deregulating the price of the products.
While promising to support the current administration by paying taxes and levies on time, Mutiu urged the government to present them with a unified bill.
