The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, at Layeri Village, near Ikoyi-Ile, in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on September 24, 2026, when three armed men reportedly invaded a family compound at about 4:20 a.m., forced their way into Peter’s room and abducted him. The assailants allegedly escaped through the National Reserve Forest with the victim’s Hajue motorcycle and mobile phone.
According to the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspects arrested are Muhammadu Abubakar, an adult, and Jayun Danali, aged 17. The two are assisting the police with information as investigations continue.
The police said the arrests have provided useful leads towards identifying and apprehending other persons allegedly connected with the kidnapping. Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified coordinated operations aimed at rescuing Peter and arresting the fleeing members of the gang.
The command urged residents of the affected communities to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and security operations.
