Makinde Allegedly Rebrands Amotekun Vehicles Into Police Colour, Gives Out Police Uniforms To Thugs ~ Oyo APC

Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed that the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has allegedly rebranded operational vehicles of the State Security Outfit, Amotekun Corps, into police colours and also distributed police uniforms to some political thugs with a view to earning them legitimacy to move round polling units during this Saturday election and perpetrate electoral malpractices in favour of the People’s Democratic Party.

Waterfield

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Oyo APC wondered why the governor was hellbent on perpetrating electoral fraud, despite the widespread lies and innuendos from his propaganda machines that he’s a performer, one who doesn’t even need any campaigns to win reelection in the state..

“Is the governor now afraid of his own shadow, to the point he’s ready to do just about anything to get re-elected?” the party queried.

Calling on the police to investigate the matter, so that the governor does not succeed in his evil plans, capable of throwing the state into pandemonium, Oyo APC enjoined residents of the state to be watchful as they go out on Saturday to perform their civic responsibility, lest they fall into the hands of state-sponsored terrorists in the mould of Amotekun, now rebranded as the police.

“Clutching on to all available straws, Governor Makinde, having reached his wits-end, is willing and ready to do just about anything, including doing the unthinkable; such as rebranding operational vehicles and sewing police uniforms for Amotekun corps.

“As a party and a people; stakeholders in this state’s project, we shall do all that’s legally permissible to ensure the safety and security of our people before, during and after Saturday’s polls.

“What baffles us as a law-abiding party is why the state’s chief security officer will be the one to make the state ungovernable. Is this just about winning an election, or more about hating the good people of Oyo State to the point of harming and maiming them?”, the party asked.

Noting that it wasn’t surprised about Governor Makinde’s latest antics, especially as it relates to the disruption of public peace due to his penchant for violence, advertised in his association with an ex-convict, Mukaila Lamidi Auxiliary, chairman of the state’s park management system, who despite his notoriety and allegations of committing grievous capital offences, has remained a sacred cow, who now emboldened, goes about terrorizing the people

Lagos Guber: Jandor Rules Out LP Alliance, Says ‘No Point Sitting On A Keg Of Gunpowder’

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Abdul-Azeez Adediran aka Jandor, has all but shut down any chances of an alliance with his counterpart of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour. Proponents of the school of thought that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has overstayed its welcome as the government of the day in Nigeria’s commercial and entertainment capital have championed an alliance between both heavyweight opposition parties.

The calls grew louder in the wake of the LP’s unprecedented victory in the presidential poll, thanks to Peter Obi and running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed. However, Jandor put hopes of such a union to rest, in a live interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday. According to him, when his “project” started years ago, it was beyond a desire to become governor.

“If it’s to be governor, I could have been governor where I was coming from, but I chose this route,” he said. The entrepreneur noted that when talks of an alliance began “flying around,” the PDP tabled the matter, “even though we [Gbadebo and I] haven’t sat together to discuss it”. He added, “We came ourselves to look at the issue and say, ‘Within us, what do we want to do? Do we want to put an end to a dynasty that has held us by the jugular for over two decades? Where do we go from here?’”

According to him, the party decided to analyse every issue critically. “We now discovered that the Labour Party candidate still has a case on his candidacy which is currently at the Supreme Court, we looked at it again that the Labour Party candidate also has an issue with Section 77 of the Electoral Act, which says if you’re leaving a particular party to another one, you must have been there, at least, for one month, that is, the party register would have been with INEC 30 days before that party primary,” he said.

Explaining that the legal issue could come up in post-election litigation, he said he would rather not be “sitting on a keg of gunpowder”.
Jandor added, “For us, we don’t have a problem, we would have said [to Rhodes-Vivour], ‘Go [on], let’s just take this [APC] government.’ “But knowing full well who we’re dealing with; we know the kind of character we’re dealing with, we know what can happen – there’s no point sitting on a keg of gunpowder. “So, for us, we want an alliance; we don’t have any issue with it. But we must put our best foot forward. We must make sure that we go into this election without any snag whatsoever.”

Nigerians in the diaspora endorsed Governor Makinde for second term

The Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID), a group of Nigerian professionals in Diaspora, has thrown its weight behind the re-election of the Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde for the second term.

The group, which consists of Nigerians from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, China, Malaysia, Brazil, the Republic of Ireland, Germany, Israel, Hungary, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa, among others, have rated Governor Makinde as the best governor in the history of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

According to the group, following an outstanding record of achievements and the execution of excellent trailblazing projects in all sectors, his declaration to run for a second term in office deserves massive votes from the good people of Oyo State, so as to continue the re-engineering programmes for the socio-political and economic stability of the State as a pacesetter.

This was contained in a press release signed by the group’s spokesman, Barrister Ayotomiwa Adebayo, which stated that Nigerians in the Diaspora are so proud of Governor Makinde as a dynamic and creative leader whose administration has had success and record-breaking performances in Oyo State, especially in the areas of education, health, infrastructure, security, and economy expansion (through Agribusiness).

The group also stressed that Governor Makinde has also committed to actionable climate change policies to mitigate negative environmental impacts on a sustainable socio-economic development. The above-mentioned areas of development focus of his administration have helped to significantly generate jobs, provide food security and safety, increase prosperity, and reduce vulnerability of youths and the ageing population.

“Over 44 months of being at the helm of affairs, Governor Makinde has changed the status quo of governance, fostered unity, and rekindled hope for the possibility of a better future. In fact, Oyo State is now experiencing unprecedented economic growth and a generational shift from poor leadership and bad governance to a good governance. These laudable achievements lend credence to the viability of Omituntun 2.0 – a sustainable socio-economic development and growth agenda for Governor Makinde’s second term tenure,” the release stated.

Barrister Adebayo emphasised that never again shall the good people of Oyo State, including professional bodies, unionists, pensioners, civil servants, teachers, students, farmers, artisans, youths, traders, among others, allow greedy political godfathers and their accomplices, who are puppets, to come to power in 2023. The consequences of their looting and misrule have resulted to unprecedented hardship, and the impacts are still fresh in the memories of the people.

He further stated that Governor Makinde is a very tolerant, prudent, honest and thoughtful leader who has demonstrated the spirit of fairness, equity, and justice towards the citizens of Oyo State irrespective of their religion, ethnicity and political affiliation.

The spokesperson expressed that based on the group’s 99.9% performance scorecard of Governor Makinde’s administration, the OID Convener, Mr. Moses Eledan, has directed all its members and well-meaning citizens, including the youth ambassadors’ wing and GSM Network globally, to work actively and selflessly to ensure that Governor Makinde is re-elected for the continuation of the laudable projects and policies he started.

Mr Eledan further stressed that, “the Executive Governor has made Oyo State a place where a child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody and indeed his re-election victory as a servant leader will surely inspire new generational leadership and bring more tremendous developmental milestones for the State.”

“Finally, as Governor Seyi Makinde has restored people’s trust in good governance and leadership, we urge all citizens to vote massively for Seyi Makinde and his endorsed candidates,” the spokesperson added.
