Olubadan Palace To Be Ready By December, As Ibadan South East LG, Methodist Grammar School Emerged Winners of Football Competition

As part of the activities of this year Ibadan Cultural Festival, the President-General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes led Ibadan sons and daughters to pay a visit to the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Senator Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alliwo Okumade II

Speaking at the Palace, the Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, assured Kabiesi and Ibadan residents that the new Palace of the Olubadan will be completed before December.

Speaking further, “the project that would involve everybody,” adding, “with our population in Ibadan said to be four million according to the last population census, if just one million people out of the four million is captured as eligible to a thousand naira each, a billion Naira would be raised and that would do something.”

“With the way things turned out and the kind of weather experienced on the day of coronation with a harmless heavy night shower that rounded off the day, we can say with confidence that the morning had already shown how the night would be as the good time to expect under the reign of the new Olubada,” Adeaga said

Also, the finals of the Football Competition organized in celebration of Ibadan Cultural Festival took place yesterday at Ilaji Hotel & Resorts.

Ibadan South East Local Government came first in the male under 15 male Football Competition beating Ibadan North LG to 1 goals to nothing while Methodist Gram schl Elekuro came first in the S l Amole /CCII female football cup championship among all the secondary Schools in lbadan land, beating Liberty academy Orita challenge to 2 goals to nothing.

Ibadan Cultural Festival; CCII Presents Awards To Winners of Quiz, Debate Competition, Holds Amala Day In Grand Style

The Ibadan Cultural Festival held three in one event today, 14 of March 2022 being the second day of the 2022 Cultural Festival Celebration.

The program featured Talent Hunt Presentation, Presentation of Awards to Winners of Quiz and Essay Competition and Amala Day.

While delivering his Speech, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola rejoiced with the President- General who’s the Chief Host, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga that he’s a lucky person whose tenure Ibadan crowned a new Olubadan of Ibadan land.

Balogun Gaphar Ojetola also appreciated both members of the Central Planing Committee and Sub-Committees for their support and cooperation so far and prayed that God will continue to Strengthen them. He equally appreciates the presence of everyone.

Under different categories the following persons emerged winners and we’re given Cash prizes and other items.

On the Inter Secondary School Quiz Competition the following Students emerged winners; Abdul-Qoyum Olajide, Muslim Grammar School, Odinjo came 1st; Timileyin Akinloye, Community High School came 2nd; while Mariam Adekola, Our lady of Apostle, Odo Ona came 3rd.

The Chairman of 2022 Education Sub-Committee, Professor Remi Raji Oyelade on behalf of the Chairman 2022 Central Planing Committee, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola and the Chief Host, The President-General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes presented Awards to the Winners.

Kazeem Olubunmi Isolagbenla Foundation also presented certificates of excellence to the winners with a total cash prizes.

On the International Essay Competition for Higher Institutions, Bukunmi Agboola from Obafemi Awolowo University & Nabeelah Mobilaji Ajani from University of Ilorin both emerged as 2nd runner up, award of excellence was presented to them by Mogaji Akere.

Morufat Tijani emerged 1st runner up with Abdulroshid Sadiq emerged over all winner both from the University of Ibadan, award of excellence was presented to them by Oloye Lekan Alabi.

The event also featured presentation of Awards to the neatest Markets who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Market Competition. Ajia came third position, Sango came second while Aleshiloye came first

The final segment of the second day program was Amala Day which was well attended by Dignitaries and Royal Personalities in Ibadan.

Kie Kie, Mr Macaroni, Others to Grace Ibadan Youth Day 2022

As part of the Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022, popular Comedians including Bukunmi Ilori (Kie Kie) and Debo Adebayo (Mr Macaroni) have confirmed their availability for the annual All Ibadan Youth Day.

According to the National Coordinator of Ibadan Prime Youth Forum, Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo confirmed to our correspondent that the celebrities showed their interest on Monday through email, to attend the event which has been scheduled to hold on March 16, 2022, by 10 am at Bode Amao Hall, Oke Aremo Ibadan House.

Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo further stated that Celebraties in the entertainment Industry both Indigenes and non Indigenes who are our own have indicated interested to be part of this year Ibadan 2022 Youth Day”

Speaking further, the Director of Programme of Ibadan Prime Youth Forum, who’s the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Moshood Adekunle confirmed that Mr Macaroni among other celebrities who are of Ibadan origin will grace the event, including giving a short performance.

The event, tagged “Historical Exposition: Youths Involvement in the development of Ibadanland” will also feature free medical Outreach, free shopping for all attendees, and lots more.

The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Akin Alao of the Department of History, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, while Chief (Mrs) Moji Ladipo is the Guest speaker, Akogun Sarafadeen Alli, Chairman; and Princess Oluwayemisi Adeaga as Chairperson of the day.

Other celebrities to grace the event include Officer Woos and Oluwa Dollars.

Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022 Begins With Church Service, Orekelewa Beauty Pageant, As Makinde Attends Service

The 2022 Ibadan Cultural Festival begins on Sunday with a Church Service which held at St’ Peters Anglican Church, Aremo, Ibadan understand the leadership of Prince Oluyemisi Adetayo Adeaga; President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes.

According to the Chairman of the Central Planing Committee, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, the church service is part of the activities of the celebration and equally seek for the support of every son and daughters of Ibadan throughout the week.

In attendance were The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, Mrs Olubamiwo Adosun; Secretary to the State Government, Mr Segun Ogunwuyi; Chief of Staff to the Governor, State Commissioners and other Top Government Officials.

According to a statement made available to the Public by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted him as saying: “We have come here today to give thanks to the King of kings. No matter how much we try as mortals, nothing we try to achieve will succeed without God.

“Yes, it took us some time to install the new Olubadan of Ibadanland. If not for the challenges we faced, the Ibadan traditional system is such that the process of installation would take only one or two weeks. And when we critically looked into those challenges, we discovered that if we did not resolve them just as we have done, we will continue to experience the same challenges every time we have to install Olubadan.

“So, with your support, we have been able to put Ibadan’s traditional system back on track.”

Also, The President-General of CCII in his speech appreciated Governor Oluseyi Makinde and stated that the purpose of the Thanksgiving is to give thanks to God for the successful coronation of Olubadan of Ibadan land which was made possible through God and Engr. Oluseyi Makinde exemplary leadership.

“We have actually come here to thank God. The first is to acknowledge the fact that Ibadan is witnessing peace and tranquillity. Second is, we are feeling the grace of God in the life of our governor. Yes, this is the truth and that is why we are here in Aremo to show appreciation to God, the Highest.

“The third reason for our thanksgiving is the successful installation and presentation of office staff of office to the new Olubadan of Ibadanland without chaos. “Some have even asked how we have been able to manage to do things peacefully now in Ibadan. So, we are really happy about these developments.

“With the way things are going in Ibadan, I want to believe that after Lagos, Ibadan will be the next investment destination,” Adeaga said.

In his sermon, titled “Jesus: Man of Sorrow,” the provost of the Church, Very Revd. Adewale Adebiyi, said that Jesus suffered for the existence of mankind and the Children of God.

He charged the CCII to ensure unity among the people and work towards sustaining a peaceful and violence-free environment, most especially among the youths within the city of Ibadan.

After the Church Service was the Orekelewa Beauty Pageant which held at the Bode Amao Hall of Ibadan House had Ojeniyi Gbemisiola Timileyin crowned which was keenly contested among eight contestants.

While given his speech at the Oreke Beauty Pageant the President- General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga admonished everyone to be a good ambassador of Yoruba culture and ensure that their children acquire Western education blended with Yoruba culture, most especially a skill as he displaced his drumming & dancing skills as well.

Ibadan Prime Youth Forum Felicitates Oba Lekan Balogun

The Ibadan Prime Youth Forum under the leadership of Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo on Thursday on behalf of all Ibadan Youths congratulated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Lekan Balogun.

In a statement made available by the National Coordinator, he described the new Mornach as a blessing to Ibadan as his wealth of experience in Administration & Governance will help in the development of Ibadan.

“On behalf of all Ibadan Youths but Indigenes and residents, I congratulate our royal father, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun on his ascension to the throne”

“We believe that his reign like those before him will sustain and promote peace and advance the development of Ibadan land”

“Kabiesi years of experience in Administration and Governance, having served in both private and public sector is an added advantage to us in Ibadan and this will reflect in the overall development of Ibadan land”

The Forum also extends their appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde and the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes under the leadership of Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga for the support given to the revered Mornach.

Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022 Essay Competition Winners Emerge

The finals of the Ibadan Cultural Festival Essay Competition held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo. The competition, which was open to all students of Ibadan origin in all tertiary institutions in the country and beyond, had its title as “Ibadanland Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Imagining the Future of a City”. After the screening of submissions, a panel of judges produced a shortlist of four finalists including Abdulroshid Sadiq (from the University of Ibadan), Bukunmi Alade Agboola (from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife), Morufat Tijani (from University of Ibadan) and Nabeelah Mobolaji-Ajani (from University of Ilorin).

Coordinated by Prof. Remi Raji-Oyelade, the chairman of the Education Subcommittee, the shortlisted candidates were given the opportunity to present their essays before a moderate audience comprising the executive members of CCII led by the President-General, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, the Cultural Festival Committee headed by Balogun Gafar Ojetola, parents, friends and well-wishers of the contestants.

In his opening speech, the President-General, Prince Adeaga congratulated the finalists (including Bukunmi Agboola who participated via Zoom) for showcasing their writing abilities. He encouraged them to develop more interest in the cultural affairs of the city of their birth and the sky will be their limits.
With Balogun Ojetola as time-keeper, and the Mr Olatunji Oladejo and Mrs Adenike Adefioye as judges, the contestants had their turns before the audience.

At the end of the competition, the first place winner was Abdulroshid Sadiq, and the first runner-up was Morufat Ajani, with both Bukunmi Agboola and Nabeelah Mobolaji-Ajani coming head-to-head as joint second runners-up.

All the finalists were commended for showing great promise. The official awards ceremony for the winners of this essay competition and the quiz competition among secondary school students will come up on March 17, 2022 as part of the Ibadan Cultural Festival 2022 events.

FIBSU National Decorates Chief Mrs Temitope Awotunde As National Staff Adviser

The Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union National Council on Thursday, 24th of February decorated Chief Mrs Temitope Awotunde as National Adviser for the Union.

Mrs Awotunde until his appointment is the Head of Department, Community Health of Oyo State College of Health Science & Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan.

Chief Mrs is also the Iyalode Asa 1 & Ashiwaju Iyalode of Awotan land. She also holds the chieftaincy title of Otun Iyalode of Idi-Oro Elewa, Adetokun, Ologuneru.

The Decoration and award ceremony took place in the Premises of the College with Principal Officers of the Instruction in attendance.

Among other dignitaries presents were the Representatives of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes including the members of her Club, Omo Ajegbinyo where she’s currently serving as the General Secretary.

Speaking at the event, the National President, Aare Fakolade Anuoluwapo said that the Union deemed it fit to appoint her as one of our National Staff Adviser following her antecedents as a humanitarian, teacher and community developer who prioritize the interest of Ibadan and her students above personal interest.

“We recognize her contribution in the student community and in the development of Ibadan land, we are proud of her antecedents and we believe, that being out National Staff Adviser will add clamour to the Union, as our priority is to protect the interest of our members and contribute our quota to the development of Ibadan”

The University of Ibadan at the event, also presented an Award of Excellence to Chief Mrs.

Makinde To Officially Pronounce Lekan Balogun As Olubadan On Monday

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde declared on Saturday that he will officially sign the appointment of Senator Lekan Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan land.

The Governor made this known while delivering his speech on Saturday at Liberty Stadium during the Final Burial Celebration of the late Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji Ajeogunguniso 1.

According to the Governor, Ibadan kingship structure is not broken and there’s no need to fix it, affirming that the Olubadan succession structure remains sacrosanct.

The Governor informed the gathering that unlike other Cities or towns where their stool can be vacant for 8 years+ that reverse is the case here, as all issues has been resolved, and he has received letter from the Olubadan-in-Council as to who will become the next Olubadan.

CCII Decorates Chief Mrs Ladoja As Grand Ambassador of Ibadan Culture

The Former First Lady of Oyo State, and wife of the Current Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland Chief Mrs Mutiat Ladoja on Tuesday was decorated as the Grant Ambassador of Ibadan Cultural.

According to the Chairman of Ibadan Cultural Festival Central Committee 2022 Chairman, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, the award was part of activities marking the yearly Ibadan Cultural Festival organised by the Central Council of Ibadanland Indigiens (CCII).

Speaking at the event, the CCII President General, Prince Yemisi Adeaga noted that the award was to appreciate the former First Lady for her contributions toward upholding Ibadan culture and tradition.

He added that CCII, which consists of over 300 clubs deem it fit to bestowed the award on Ladoja for tourching lives of the poor and less privileges in Oyo State particularly Ibadanland.

He said Ladoja’s pedigree and anticedent qualified her for the award, which was the first thing that has ever happened in the history of Ibadanland.

“Before we could have single out someone for an award, he/she must have been someone that transverses in Ibadan culture and heritage, which shows her as true Ibadan daughter, she always promoted our culture.”

In her remark, the former first lady expressed her gratitude to CCII for counting her worthy for the award, promising to continue to uphold Ibadan tradition in high extreme.

Other Personality Presents Includes; Elder Brother of Governor Seyi Makinde, Barr. Muyiwa Makinde, the Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Chief Mrs Iswat Ameringun, Ekeefa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Alabi, Local Government Chairmen, Representatives of Ibadan Prime Youths Forum, and Government Appointees Among Others.

WINNERS OF IBADAN CULTURAL FESTIVAL SECONDARY SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION HAVE EMERGED

On Saturday, (February 5, 2022) a total of eight schools participated in the quiz competition organised by the Education Committee of CCII’s Ibadan Cultural Festival, 2022 edition.
The schools included:

  1. Basorun High School, Basorun;
  2. Community High School, Sawia;
  3. Elekuro High School, Elekuro;
  4. Ibadan City Academy, Oluyoro Academy;
  5. Itesiwaju Community High School, Alapafon Ibadan
  6. Our Lady of Apostle, Odo Ona;
  7. Queen of Apostle, Oluyoro; and
  8. Urban Day Grammar School, Old Ife road, Ibadan.

Each school had a student representative in the hot seat, with all the participants taking questions drawn from three subjects, Mathematics, English and Yoruba.

At the end of the keenly contested competition, Abdul-Qoyum Olajide of Muslim Grammar School came first with 30 points, Timileyin Akinloye of Community High School came second with 27 points while Mariam Adekola of Our Lady of Apostle came third scoring 18 points.

Earlier, in his brief and inspiring speech, the President-General of CCII, Prince Yemisi Adeaga welcomed the students and their teachers to Ibadan House and congratulated them for their participation. Other dignitaries in attendance at the competition included Elder Lasun Kolade, Balogun Gafar Ojetola (ICF Chairman), Alagba Dipo Gbenro, Dr Niyi Adegbenla, Mrs Adenike Adefioye and Mogaji Dr. Amusa Rasak.

The awards ceremony for the three winners of the quiz competition will take place on a special date during the Cultural Festival programmes.
