Governor of The State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola has sent warm greetings to former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Chief Akinyemi Bamidele Farounbi, on his 77th birthday anniversary.
In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, Oyetola said he was pleased to join family members, associates and wellwishers to celebrate the elder statesman and thank God for his life.
The Governor, who described Farounbi as a seasoned diplomat, veteran journalist and respected elder statesman, lauded his sterling contributions to the development of Nigeira
He appreciated the celebrant for his constant wise counsel and support for his administration while also acknowledging his interventions at promoting good governance, democracy and sustainable development.
Oyetola prayed God Almighty to continue to strengthen Ambassador Farounbi and bless him with many more years in good health and sound mind.
OduduwaNews gathered that on Tuesday, 28th September, 2021 ADESINA Omowumi Aishat, a 24-year old, female, Part 4 student of the Department of Foreign Languages reported to the Health Centre and was given wrong medication after which she was transferred to Seven Day Adventist Hospital were she was said to be dead on arrival.
A release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that “the Management understands the grief resulting from this untimely death within the community and sympathises with the parents, friends, colleagues and the entire students of the University on this sad loss, and prays for the repose of her soul.
“However, Management condemns in strong terms the continuous and uncontrolled protests by the students culminating in unbridled brigandage, blocking the Ife/Ibadan and Ife/Ede highways and other adjoining roads that could be used as alternative routes, and engaging in other acts that are detrimental to their health and the safety of the generality of the people.
“Therefore, having exhausted all necessary avenues to call the students to order and allow normalcy to return to the Campus and its environs, the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, have accordingly closed down the School until further notice. This is to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
“In view of this, all students are hereby directed to vacate their halls of residence and the Campus latest by 12:00 noon on Saturday, 2nd October, 2021.
“Consequently, the swearing-in of the newly elected Students’ Union officials has been put on hold, pending a review of the situation.
“In the meantime, the University management has put in place the machinery to unravel the circumstances surrounding the immediate and remote cause(s) of the crisis.”
The Ibadan Prime Youths Forum (IPYF) on Friday admonish the Youths of the country to hold their leaders and politicians responsible and accountable for the deplorable State of things in the Country, IPYF made the call through their National Coordinator, Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo in his Independence day speech.
“Nigerian youths must start to ask questions from their political leaders and political office holders. Questions pertaining to the state development and their stewardship of duties, also issues around the implementation of their campaign promises”
“It’s important for Nigerian youths, to as a matter of urgency, during electioneering period engage politicians on how best they intend to achieve their campaign promises, as this will help know those who are ready for governance and whether these potential political office holders really understand what leadership and governance entails”
The Forum registered its displeasure towards the State of the Country’s Economy and describes it has a result of a failed leadership and governance majorly from the ‘so called’ politician.
However, the CCII Youth leader appreciate the few politicians that are doing the right things. ‘At this juncture, we applaud some of our leaders that are performing very well. Though, they are few, but some of them knows their onions’
The IPYF National Coordinator further encourage the youth to work very hard to make Nigeria work. He reiterates that Nigeria has a lot of potentials to rise if worked on.
“This is our homeland, we should not lose hope on Nigeria. It can work based on our collective effort, we must make our leaders account for how they manage our country and sack them if they seems not to perform. We must work hard to make it work. We can sack the irresponsible and the underperformed politicians by voting them out during elections” Dr Adeagbo proclaims.
He further charges youth to be courageous in doing this as he encourages youth to celebrate Nigeria with a view of a better future.
Protesters under the banner of #TakeItBack Movement and #RevolutionNow on Friday stormed the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos.
The protesters registered their displeasure against insecurity, poor economy, lawlessness, and other challenges in the country.
The protest coincides with the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary.
The police during the week said no official letter had been received to notify the command of any protest, adding that it ought to be notified so security could be provided to prevent miscreants from taking advantage of the

Security operatives including RRS officers, over 10 hilux vehicles of the Nigeria Police Force were present at the venue of the protest.

Nigeria, according to Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo, senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre in London, is an oxymoron, a country without direction.
He claims that the country lacks the ability to develop its youth.
The prominent gospel preacher made the claim on Thursday at the Redeem Christian Church of God’s (RCCG) Youth Convention, dubbed “Exceeding Expectations.”
Authorities in the country, according to the man of God, have favored cows and herders above younger Nigerians who need to be pushed towards new technologies.
He believes that being born in Nigeria was an accident, and that the country lacks leaders that care about the people.
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, on Thursday re-emphasised the need for Nigeria to think in the direction of true federalism, saying it is one of the major solutions to the county’s many challenges.
Obasa made the call at the 13th annual Hijrah Lecture 1443 A.H (2021) organised by the House with the theme: “The Role Of The Youths In The Emerging Socio-Economic And Political Realities.”
According to the Speaker, it is very obvious that citizens and leaders in the country intensify efforts to salvage the economy, especially as it relates to the increasing poverty rate, the need to make the country secure and peaceful as well as the dwindling fortunes of the Nigerian currency as against the dollar.
The Speaker, who noted the topic of the event as very important at this time of the country’s journey, further urged the federal government to see the current situation as an opportunity to address the issue of the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) in favour of the states.
He said if Nigeria was to make progress, the country should follow the steps of the United States of America and China which relies on the provinces.
“The topic of this event is very important. What is the situation of our country? What is the situation with the youth? How do we live our lives? What is the health and educational situation of the country?
“We talk about youth unemployment, but what is the state of education and qualifications?
“The topic is important, especially with the argument that the economy has become seriously challenged.
“The standard of living and the rate of poverty are biting. Months ago, the dollar rate was still welcoming at a little above N300 but today, it is more than N500.
“This current situation of the country is an opportunity for the federal government to address the issue of VAT.
“China today relies on the provinces of the country. USA practises true federalism. If we are practising federalism, we should be consistent. We should operate in a way that Osun State would explore its resources and Zamfara would do same,” Obasa said while expressing hope that Nigerians would be proud of the country which marks its 61st independence anniversary.
He noted that Lagos State House of Assembly has always been youth-friendly in relation to bills passed by the House.
He named some of the bills as the Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Child Right Bill, the Employment Trust Fund which provides loans to youths ready to make progress and the Sports Commission bill amended by the House.
The Speaker said Hijrah affords Muslims the opportunity to thank Allah and continue to have faith in Him.
Obasa recalled how COVID-19 had affected the world and caused fears and deaths just as he remembered Nigerians who became victims of the pandemic.
In his lecture, Shaykh Muhyideen Ajani Bello, Chief Imam and Missioner, Ansar ud Deen Society of Nigeria, Northern States Council, urged the youth to know that they would one day lead the country just as he slammed leaders for relegating the youth for too long.
He also advocated for women to be given more important roles in governance of the country.
On his part, Dr. Sa’eid Ahmad, Consultant General Surgeon and Imam, also spoke about moral decadence in the society, the rot in the education and other sectors of the economy.
He said the youth must be diligent and hardworking even in the face of the country’s challenges.
Addressing the guests after the lecture, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the points raised by the lecturers would be considered and their suggestions implemented.
He described the topic of the event as thought-provoking.
The Government of the State of Osun has condoled the families of police officers killed by armed robbers in Iragbiji on Tuesday.
The State Government reaffirmed its commitment to security of lives and property.
Recall that on Tuesday, some armed robbers attacked a commercial bank and police divisional headquarters in Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of the State, leaving two police officers dead.
The two officers that lost their lives to the ugly incident are Inspector Adebiyi Hammed and Inspector Odeyemi Ayinla.
Speaking during the condolence visits to the family members of the deceased, the Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Security, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, expressed heartfelt condolences of the Governor and the Government to the families of the deceased.
Ige, who led the delegation on the visit to Iragbiji and Osogbo where the families of the deceased reside, described the incident as most unfortunate and disheartening.
She said the Administration would continue to do the needful to guarantee the security of the people and ensure safety for all.
Ige condoled the deceased’s families to take solace in God as their loved ones ended their lives in the course of service to humanity and their fatherland.
She said: “We are here on behalf of the Governor and his government to express our condolences over the sudden deaths of the gallant officers who lost their lives to the unfortunate robbery incident at Iragbiji yesterday.
“We were sent by Goverment to come and condole you. We don’t know how and why it happened but God knows it.
“As a government, we are very pained; we are concerned and touched, and we equally shared in your pains at the moment. It is our prayer that such unfortunate circumstances will not reoccur in our State.
“Our appeal is for you to see the incident as the will of God as we pray God to uphold your families and grant you fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

Having given her best in tutorship and didactic service to the betterment of the coming generations, she happily retired from active teaching service at the peak of her career as a principal.
