OAU Student’s Death: Adedoyin’s Lawyer Urges Public To Disregard Report On CCTV

Abiodun Williams, one of the counsel to the owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, Dr. Ramon Adegoke, has urged the public to disregard the latest alarm by an Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat that he had gained access to a CCTV footage showing how Timothy Adegoke, the OAU Masters degree student, was allegedly murdered at Hilton Hotel.

Hamzat in a video said Adedoyin, his son, Roheem Adedoyin and one Moshood allegedly entered the room where Adegoke was logged around 12am and came out with wrapped item moments later.

Williams described Mr Hamza’s story as “another lie from the pit of hell by a self-styled human rights advocate who has been inciting the public against Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, the proprietor of Hilton Hotel.”

Williams said the police has not released any official statement on the outcome of their investigations so far, adding that Dr. Adedoyin was not in the hotel at the time of the incident and could not have been seen on any CCTV footage.

“We are aware that Mr Hamzat has spread so many wicked and ugly contradictory tales against Dr. Adedoyin and his family since the unfortunate death of Mr. Adegoke.

“We urge the public not to believe any of the lies, but allow the police to conclude their investigations to unravel the cause of Mr, Adegoke’s death and bring the culprits to justice.

“We will also like to remind Hamzat that only a properly constituted court of competent jurisdiction can pronounce an individual guilty of an offence of murder or any other offence at all; and this should be based on established facts and credible evidence; and not through wicked social media speculations, manipulations and concocted lies.”

Mr. Williams said the Adedoyin family has noted Hamzat’s “wicked lies and constant criminal defamations” and machinery has been set in motion to seek legal redress at the appropriate time.

It’s no big deal If my wife, Toyin Abraham, is richer than I am –Actor Kolawole Ajeyemi

Actor Kolawole Ajeyemi has said he sees no big deal in his wife and colleague in the film industry, Toyin Abraham, being richer than him.

The Dad of two who spoke to Tribune, said as long as he and his wife do not boast about their wealth to each other, it remains inconsequential who is richer of the two of them.

“I was born in 1979 and I have a lot of colleagues that know my age. As I said earlier, I joined the industry in 1997 and I believe she hasn’t joined the industry then. So, subtract my age from 1997 when I joined the industry and compare it. So, I am older than my wife.

Then on the issue of being richer or more popular, money or no money, popular or not, God is the one who owns money or fame and freely gives to whoever. Whether I am the one who is more popular or rich, or she is, the fact remains that we are both popular and rich. It is no big deal if my wife is richer than I am, in as much as none of us is being arrogant to the other over this.

There is no issue because, at the end of the day, it is good for both parties, you assist each other. On popularity, I am also doing well for myself. I have been in the industry and doing well even before I met my wife, and I make my living from what I do.

Currently, I have a business. I also have a large farm, a very big one. So, I am doing well for myself and I am okay with that. She is doing well too and I have never for once wished she comes down. I am not that kind of guy, I wasn’t brought up that way.

I pray she continues to go up and I remain at the top. But my wife is not older than I am, I was born in 1979 and a lot of people know this. So, for those talking all about whether she is older than I am or not, they are the ones who cause issues between husbands and wives. I want to say they should stop that. If they don’t stop, those in the marriage too shouldn’t allow talks like that to get to them.”he said

The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, this afternoon held a press briefing where he spoke more on the investigations into the death of Dowen college student, Sylvester Oromoni.

Speaking to the press, Odumosu said the results from the first and second autopsies carried out on Sylvester’s body in Delta and Lagos state indicated that he died a natural death.

”A post mortem examination was initially carried out on 2nd December, 2021 by a Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Clement Vhriterhire of the Central Hospital, Warri, Delta State. The result of the first autopsy dated 10th December, 2021 attributed the cause of death to ‘acute lung injury due to chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force trauma’.

However, toxicology screening was recommended and also carried out. While waiting for the result of the toxicology, another autopsy was ordered by the Coroner Magistrate in Lagos because of the status of jurisdiction. The corpse was, therefore, moved with armed police escorts from Delta State to Lagos State by TOS Funeral and the autopsy conducted at the expense of the Lagos State Government.

The second autopsy was carried out at the Lagos state University Teaching Hospital on 14th December, 2021 in the presence of representatives of all the parties involved in the case. The second autopsy was carried out by Dr. S.S Soyemi, the Consultant Pathologist and Chief Examiner, Department of Pathology and Forensic Sciences, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos.

Odumosu said the second autopsy carried out in Lagos was witnessed by the following; Dr Uwon Eze, a consultant Pathologist from UCH represented Timile’s family, Dr. Badmus Kabiru, Consultant Pathologist from LUTH represented Dowen College, Dr. Nwigwe Chikodili Isabella, Consultant Pathologist from Military Hospital Yaba represented Edward Brown, student of Dowen College, Dr. Clemet Vhriterhire, Consultant Pathologist who performed the first autopsy represented the family of the deceased, Dr. Musa Stephen Itopa, Consultant Pathologist from UPTH represented Michael Kasamu, student of Dowen College, Dr. F.E. He added that the House Masters were also granted bail after the expiration of the 21 days remand order.

Speaking further, Odumosu said

”The result of the second autopsy carried out in Lagos was released on 21st December, 2021. The result attributed the cause of death to ‘Septicaemia, lobar pneumonia with acute pyelonephritis and pyomyositis of the right ankle’.

On 30th December, 2021, the toxicology screening results of the first autopsy carried out in Warri was released. The result issued and signed by Dr. Clement Vhriterhire, the same doctor who carried out the initial autopsy attributed the cause of death to ‘acute bacteria pneumonia due to severe sepsis’

At the end of diligent investigation carried out so far, there is no evidence to establish a case of torture, bullying and forceful application of poisonous substance against the suspects.”

Odumosu said all the suspects denied the allegations of torture, bullying and administering of poisonous substances to the deceased.

He mentioned that the allegation that the deceased was being forced to join a cult group was also not established as other students interviewed denied this.

”Final results of the post mortem and toxicology examination conducted both at Warri and Lagos agreed that the deceased died a natural death.”he said

Speaking further, Odumosu said

For purpose of clarification, it is pertinent to convey to members of the public in simple terms, the commentary/submission of Dr. SS Soyemi, the consultant pathologist who led a team of pathologists to carry out the autopsy.

He declared and I quote: Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a 12-year old student of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, reportedly died on November 30, 2021 at a private hospital in Warri, Delta State.

It was alleged that the deceased was physically assaulted and poisoned in the school prior to death. The first autopsy was done in Warri on December 2, 2021.

Following an order for a second autopsy, the body of the deceased was brought to Lagos for a second autopsy.

Our findings at the second autopsy include marked pallor of organs, pneumonia (infection of the lungs), infections of the liver and kidneys as well as the heart. These infections emanated from the ankle infection described earlier in the report. Microscopic sections also confirmed these findings.

Death was caused by Septicaemia following infections of the lungs and kidneys arising from the ankle wound.

No evidence of blunt force trauma in this body.

The findings in the oesophagus and stomach are not compatible with chemical intoxication. Death in this case is natural.”

UPDATED: Withdraw Your Court Case To Become Olubadan— Ladoja Tells Ajumobi’s Obas

Recently, there had been series of controversies trailing the ascendancy of Olubadan throne after the demise of Oba Saliu Adetunji Ajeogunguniso 1. This could be attributed to the crisis arising from the litigations that followed the giving of beaded crowns to the 10 high chiefs by the former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi

Meanwhile, Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of Oyo State, High Chief (Senator) Rashidi Ladoja, has described the controversy trailing succession to the throne of Olubadan is needless.

Ladoja is the second most senior chief in the Civil Line that is to produce the next Olubadan of Ibadan, following the death of Oba Saliu Adetunji.

The former governor spoke at his Bodija residence on Thursday when the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant and senator representing Oyo Central, Senator Teslim Folarin, led bigwigs in the party to pay a condolence visit to Ladoja on the death of Oba Adetunji.

According to Ladoja, the controversy should not have arisen as the succession plan is clear and unambiguous.

“There is no controversy about it. Egbon Lekan Balogun is the most senior in our line and so he is the next in line to the throne.

“For those asking, my ‘body and mouth language’ is that Egbon Lekan is my senior and he is next in line to the Olubadan stool.

“I do not have the powers to make anybody Olubadan. In 2017, we instituted a case to challenge the needless reform that Abiola Ajimobi as governor wanted to do. Almost all of us as High Chiefs and members of the Olubadan-in-Council agreed to the filing of a suit to challenge him and we gave the task to Michael Lana.

“Lana later called me to say some of the High Chiefs told him to remove their names from the suit, leaving only my Egbon Balogun and myself. Two weeks after we started the case, Egbon Balogun said he was no longer interested in the case. I asked Lana if I could do it alone and he told he ‘yes’ and we continued.

“We won the case at the state High Court and Ajimobi appealed. In a judgment, the Appeal Court, a few days to the exit of Ajimobi from government, sent the case back to the High Court for retrial. They Judges of the Appellate Court said the case was brought under writ of summons instead of originating summons.

“By the time, there had been a new government headed by Seyi Makinde who said he did not want the distraction of the suit and called for out-of court settlement which we agreed to and did.

“After the terms of settlement were agreed to, the court gave a consent judgment based on the terms. But they said they were not happy and instituted two fresh cases which are still in court till today.

“So, I need people to understand that I am not causing any trouble. The cases that are in court today in respect of the Obaship tussle were instituted by Egbo Balogun and his colleagues who are still calling themselves Obas.

“It is they that the people should talk to. Let them go and withdraw the cases they instituted. I don’t like the unwarranted tension this matter is generating.
