The Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has not received any letter suspending him, his spokesman, Jimoh Buhari, said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, ODUDUWA NEWS has just gathered that “MC Oluomo held an emergency meeting following his suspension from national body.
In the recently concluded meeting, MC Oluomo has announced withdrawal of Lagos chapter of NURTW from the national body while affirming his position as the Lagos NURTW chairman.
ODUDUWA NEWS had reported earlier today that MC Oluomo was suspended by the NURTW national leadership in Abuja, for insubordination, misconduct and Incitement.
The 46-year-old was placed on indefinite suspension “to prevent chaos as he was already inciting members against the Union, an act that is against the constitution of the organization”.
But reacting to the viral suspension letter, MC Oluomo in the just concluded meeting following his suspension from national body said: “As far as we are concerned, we are not aware of the suspension because we have not received any letter from the national leadership.
“A leader of an organisation cannot be suspended on social media and I still remain the Lagos State Chapter Chairman.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has directed all area commanders and Divisional Police Officers to beef up security and maintain visibility in their area of coverage.
This is coming on the heels of the indefinite suspension of the Lagos State Chapter Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, over alleged misconduct, insubordination, and inciting members of the state chapter against the apex body.
The state police boss in an interview on Thursday said a directive has been given on the deployment and patrol of all motor parks across. He assured Lagos residents of adequate security of life and property.
The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was suspended earlier today, and the police boss said their move was necessary to curb any form of violence that may arise.
The Transport union also directed MC Oluomo to immediately hand over the mantle of leadership to his deputy chairman and release all property belonging to the body in his possession to State Secretary, in a bid to avoid any leadership vacuum in the state.
The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has suspended its Lagos chapter’s Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called Mc Oluomo, indefinitely over alleged misconduct, insubordination, and inciting members of the state chapter against the apex body, the development of which may be connected to a protest staged by Mc Oluomo supporters during which they accused the union at national level of unnecessarily interfering in the state affairs.
NURTW has also directed MC Oluomo to immediately hand over the mantle of leadership to his deputy chairman and release all property belonging to the transport body in his possession to State Secretary, in a bid to avoid any leadership vacuum in the state.
It alleged that the decision to place MC Oluomo on indefinite suspension was basically to prevent any breakdown of law and order after it came to its notice that he was already inciting members against the union, an act that is completely against NURTW constitution.
MC Oluomo’s suspension was contained in a letter sent to him on decisions taken by the national body as regards his recent conducts which Union described as a total disregard for the constitution governing members’ activities across the country.
In the letter dated March 9th, 2022, and sighted by our correspondent on Thursday, the national body stressed that it resolved to suspend MC Oluomo after it became obvious that MC Oluomo was not apologetic over his actions even after he was directed to explain reasons for embarking on such.
According to the letter signed by the General Secretary for the national body, Kabiru Yau, the Union promised to often ensure that the NURTW constitution remains sacrosanct and adhered to by members across the country.
The letter reads: “This is to convey to you that in line with Article 42 section 5, subsection I, II, III, IV, V, and VIII of the union’s constitution, you have been placed on indefinite suspension from office as State Chairman of Lagos State Council of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) with effect from March 9th, 2022.
“Your suspension is sequel to sustained acts of insubordination and gross misconduct coupled with your clandestine plans to instigate crisis and unleash mayhem on any branch or branches of the union in Lagos state that refuses to obey your order or instructions not to accept directives from the national headquarters of the Union.
“Your orchestrated plan to attack branches that may disobey your orders aforesaid will ultimately endanger public peace and order in Lagos state. It is also very likely to threaten and/or affect the lives and property of the peace-loving people of Lagos state, particularly those doing their legitimate businesses within motor parks, hence the urgent need to take drastic actions against him.
“It is on record that you were earlier issued with queries on 25th of February 2022 and 3rd of March, 2022 respectively in which you were directed to explain the circumstances surrounding your untoward actions and to also show cause why disciplinary actions should not be taken against you for such acts of insubordination. You bluntly neglected/refuse to respond to the second query, while your response to the first query was unsatisfactory.
“In view of your suspension, you are hereby directed to hand over the mantle of leadership of the Lagos State Council to the State Deputy Chairman and also surrender all Union properties in your possession to the State Secretary of the Union forthwith”.
National Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Saleh Alhassan urged the Beninese government to handover the Yoruba leader to its Nigeria counterpart. The Fulani Socio-Cultural Association, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has asked the Nigerian government to extradite Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho to the country to face trial. Declared wanted by the Department of State Services for allegedly stockpiling arms to destabilise Nigeria, an allegation he denied, Igboho escaped to Benin Republic in July 2021. However, luck ran out on him and he was arrested by the Interpol at a Benin airport when he tried to board a Germany-bound flight. He was remanded in a prison in Benin Republic for many months but regained his freedom on Monday to the excitement of many Nigerians particularly in the South-West region. Reacting to his release, National Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Saleh Alhassan urged the Beninese government to handover the Yoruba leader to its Nigeria counterpart. According to Alhassan in an interview with SaharaReporters, Igboho should be treated like Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. He said, “They should quickly bring him (Igboho) back for trial, so that he can be behind bar like Nnamdi Kanu because he is a threat to peace and security of this country. Nigerian authorities should bring him back and put him into trial. “He is an eminent threat to the country, since he left, have you heard of any killing in the South West again? Let’s be honest, that means he was the one instigating it. Ask yourself, since he left, have you heard about the herdsmen palaver? “The government should behave like the Russian government and deal with all those who want to destabilise this country. The government in Benin Republic should release him to the Nigerian government; he is a wanted man here in Nigeria. He should be released to the Nigerian government for onward trial for the crime he has committed against humanity. With the burning of the palace of the Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State and killing of seven people; he is wanted for trial, he also attacked custom officers.”
