Presidency: Northern Govs Ask Buhari To Cede Power To South, Move For Consensus APC Candidate

The 11 northern governors under the platform of APC have asked Buhari to ensure that power is rotated to the South, saying that ceding presidency to the zone will engender fairness, justice and harmony.

This was contained in a statement released and made available to newsmen by the governors after a meeting with Buhari.

“APC governors and political leaders from the northern states of Nigeria today met to review the political situation and to further support our Party in providing progressive leadership amidst our national challenges. During our discussions, we welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari’s invitation to governors and other stakeholders to contribute to the emergence of a strong presidential candidate for the APC.

“After careful deliberation, we wish to state our firm conviction that after eight years in office of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2023 elections should be one of our teeming members from the southern states of Nigeria. It is a question of honour for the APC, an obligation that is not in anyway affected by the decisions taken by another political party. We affirm that upholding this principle is in the interest of building a stronger, more united and more progressive country.

“We therefore wish to strongly recommend to President Muhammadu Buhari that the search for a successor as the APC’s presidential candidate be limited to our compatriots from the southern states. We appeal to all aspirants from the northern states to withdraw in the national interest and allow only the aspirants from the south to proceed to the primaries. We are delighted by the decision of our esteemed colleague, His Excellency, Governor Abubakar Badaru to contribute to this patriotic quest by withdrawing his presidential aspiration.

“The APC has a duty to ensure that the 2023 elections offer a nation-building moment, reaffirming that a democratic pathway to power exists for all who value cooperation and build national platforms. This moment calls for the most sober and inclusive approach to selecting our party’s candidate, and we call on all APC leaders to fulfil their responsibility in this regard.

My Statement In Ogun Was Misquoted, Respect For Buhari, Abiodun High

The Presidential aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress APC has claimed that the statement credited to him while he was addressing delegates at Abeokuta in Ogun State was error in translation.

This was contained in a statement released and made available to newsmen as read in part:

“The attention of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign Organisation has been drawn to the erroneous, misleading and mischievous interpretation of his address in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State on Thursday.

“It is on record that the leading presidential aspirant in the forthcoming primaries of the APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu addressed the national delegates of the party in Ogun State , with Governor Dapo Abiodun in attendance.

“In his effort to convince the party delegates to vote for him at the primaries, he went down memory lane to provide specific instances when he brought his political clout and strategic skills to assist individuals, groups and tendencies in the party to gain political power.

“These factual references are already in the public realm.

“They have been reported and analysed in the media in the last eight years.

“While we recognise that recent unexpected interventions in the time table and the heat generated by the proximity of the event might have led to some anxiety, this campaign organisation believes that the main thrust of Asiwaju’s presentation, was that his huge contributions to the formation and electoral success of the APC should count in his favour as a true party man who desires to be the flag bearer.

“There is also no doubt that the fresh conditions proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari for the consideration of a presidential candidate of the party made it necessary for Asiwaju to labour to convince the delegates that he fits the bill.

“The campaign was surprised at the way the opposition and Tinubu’s traducers had turned his statement to give an interpretation Tinubu did not mean and did not say.

At no time did Tinubu play any ethnic card or denigrate any ethnic group. That is surely out of his character, as David Babachir Lawal, attested in his viral whatsApp statement.

Tinubu’s speech in Abeokuta did not demonstrate any disrespect to President Buhari, for whom he has a very high regards and whose re-election campaign he chaired in 2019. The campaign organisation hereby appeals to the media to avoid over-sensationaling issues of facts and play its role of informing the electorate”.

Actress, Tonto Dikeh, has come for former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, for comparing her to presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu.

Omokri had on Friday said, “Tinubu is just behaving like Tonto Dikeh and Nkechi Blessing. Like a woman who was promised marriage and jilted and is now exploding and exposing the jilter. Buhari don buy market. He either builds another ‘other room’ for Tinubu, or marry him as promised!”

Osun 2022: Troublemakers Will Face Ogun, Sango’s Wrath, Say Traditionalists

The leadership of Traditional Religion Worshippers Association, Osun State has cautioned politicians against fomenting trouble during the forthcoming governorship poll in the state.

The group said whoever that foments trouble during the election would face the wrath of Sango and Ogun.

The group als called on the stakeholders to shun violence in the overall interest of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the TRWASO President, Dr Oluseyi Atanda, in commemoration of his first anniversary in office as the leader of the group.

Atanda, who admonished other religious groups in the state to also begin prayers to ward off violence, said politicians and their supporters must be law-abiding and refrain from acts that could jeopardise peace.

The statement read in part, “As we approach the climax of political interplay in Osun, we as spiritualists will continue to pray to God Almighty and make supplications to the terrestrial to have a peaceful electioneering outing.

“Let me state that it is likely that some desperate politicians will attempt a do or die approach and attempt to set Osun on fire, God Olodumare will not allow this to happen.

“I want to enjoin all other religious groups to embark on prayers for a peaceful transition in Osun and admonish trouble makers to stop, otherwise they will incur the wrath of Sango and Ogun. Osun is peaceful and we want peace for all.”

While reviewing activities of the group in the last one year, Atanda said his administration has strengthened its local government branches, while work has been progressing on the secretariat complex of the organisation.

Buhari Lost Three Times Before I Led War To Make Him President – Tinubu

Tinubu, has claimed that without his support, President Muhammadu Buhari would not have won the 2015 election.

Speaking in Ogun State, Tinubu said, “If not me that led the war from the front, Buhari would not have emerged as the president. He contested first, second and third times, but lost. He even said on television that he won’t contest again.

“But I went to his home in Katsina, I told him you would contest and win, but you won’t joke with the matters of the Yorubas.

I Jettisoned My Ambition To Recontest For Rep In Fairness To Iwajowa, Kajola LGs – Shina Peller

Honourable member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, Hon. Shina Peller has claimed that he Jettisoned his plan to recontest for House of Representatives member in fairness to Iwajowa, Kajola LGs.

“Many people wonder why I chose not to return to the House of Representatives for the second term. For the sake of integrity, my decision is based on my consideration of other local governments within my constituency- Kajola and Iwajowa who haven’t presented a representative for almost 16 years now. Returning to the House for the second term will mean denying them the opportunity to present a representative for twenty years.

“My people from Kajola/Iwajowa feel the people from Iseyin haven’t been fair enough to them in this regard, and I share their pain. This was why I made up my mind to throw my weight behind choosing a qualified person from Kajola/Iwajowa to represent our federal constituency in 2023, while I am yielding the call of my people from Oke Ogun to opt for the Oyo North Senatorial District seat. Oyo 2023: Beg Adelabu, Other Aggrieved Members To Work For Your Emergence, Tinubu Tells Folarin

All Progressives Congress National Leader and presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu has urged Senator Teslim Folarin, the APC governorship aspirant in Oyo state, to start begging all aggrieved members to win the 2023 general election.

ODUDUWA NEWS reports that Tinubu issued this statement on Thursday when he visited Oyo state to woo delegates ahead of the party presidential primary election.

He said “This crowd is not enough to enthrone you as Governor. You’ll have to beg. You’ll have to meet people and beg them. Go and beg those you struggled it with.”

Our correspondent who monitored the event observed that everyone in the hall were silent and nodding heads when Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued the statement.
Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress and a presidential candidate, has encouraged Senator Teslim Folarin, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo state, to begin asking all unhappy members in order to win the 2023 general election.

Tinubu made the statement on Thursday while visiting Oyo state to recruit delegates ahead of the party’s presidential primary poll, according to ODUDUWA NEWS.

“This crowd is insufficient to enthrone you as Governor,” he said. You’ll have to rely on begging. You’ll have to approach strangers and beg them for help. Go and entreat those with whom you struggled.”

When Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered his statement, everyone in the hall fell silent and nodded their heads.

The former Lagos governor said he is in support of the decision of majority party members who elected the three term senators as the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the party’s candidate.

He urged them to reconcile themselves ahead of the election, saying that he would come back to talk to the aggrieved members on the need to shealth their sword.

He said he was going back to raise the hands of Folarin and campaign for him, advising Folarin to go back to pacify the aggrieved.

He later raised the hands of Adedapo Lam-Adesina; Idris Ajimobi and Olamiju Alao-Akala, APC candidates in Ibadan North East/South East; Ibadan Southwest 2 and Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire federal constituency, asking people to support them.

However, in his reaction, Senator Folarin said “Asiwaju will not agree that we will contest and not win. Baba will make sure we win OYO State back to the progressive.”

According to him, Asiwaju owns Oyo delegates.

He promised to show it in presidential primary Election result.
