Ekiti 2022: APC berates SDP for resorting to mayhem, bloodletting

Waterfield Luxury Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has bemoaned the bloodletting which occured in the state on Saturday 11 June, 2002, just a week to the governorship election.

APC described the unprovoked attack on the party’s campaign train by the miscreants of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, as not only condemnable but reprimandable.

Through a release issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, APC said while it would continue to prevail on its members to be of good conduct and toe the path of sanity, it will also continue to ring it in the ears of Segun Oni and his cohorts that they should be ready to bear the consequences of their unconscionable act.

Dipe said that it was apparent Segun Oni was a leopard that could not change its spot. “He is too desperate and will not stop at anything to get to power, though he won’t. We learnt he is now physically involved in the unleashing of mayhem, thus causing unrest in the state.

Dipe said Oni’s action would not deter APC from fulfilling its pact with the people, which is to ensure a smooth transition from Gov. Fayemi to Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, and Segun Oni will be exposed for who he truly is: a desperado.

“If you think you have monopoly of violence, remember also that the hands of law is long enough to catch up with you and crime has no expiry date.”

Narrating what transpired on Saturday, Dipe said the APC train had embarked on a roadshow to canvas for the support of the electorates across the state for the party’s candidate, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, only for the SDP goons to unleash mayhem on them. First they were way-layed at Segun Oni’s town, Ifaki, but our people did not baulk. The SDP miscreants later open gunshots at them along Itaji road, killing and maiming. Even when the unarmed youths ran into the bush for their dear lives, they were pursued and shot directly at, them, falling some of them.”

Even in times of war, you don’t shoot at unarmed innocent citizens, but in this case, the SDP goons were mindless of the consequences of their actions, and we implore the security operatives to roar into action, without minding whose ox is gored.

“As I write, no one can say with precision how many casualties have occured from the one-sided unprovoked assault. All we can say is that SDP has acted unconscionably and should be made to face the law.”

“This is one war Segun Oni and those in cahoots with him cannot win. Their style of gangsterism is old fashioned and will not be condoned in a sane society like ours. Ekiti is not a banana republic where people can be killed or maimed anyhow. Lest he fails to know, Oni has successfully pushed himself to the wrong side of history. He will be judged, morally, spiritually and legally. The blood of those he is falling will also come in judgement against him and his cohorts, no two ways about this,” Dipe admonished.

Owo Terror Attack: Ondo Govt Cancels June 12 Celebrations

The Ondo State Government has canceled this year’s June 12 celebration earlier slated for Sunday 12th June, 2022.

This is consequent upon the terror attack on
innocent worshipers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, on Sunday 5th June, 2022.

The cancelation is to enable the entire people of Ondo State mourn their loved ones who lost their lives in the horrific attack.

Recall that the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, had directed that all flags in the state be flown at half -mast for seven days in honour of the victims of the terror attack.

Owo Terror Attack Was A Message To Yoruba Land – Soyinka

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, on Friday received Nobel laureate and renowned playwright, Prof. Wole Soyinka in his office, Alagbaka, Akure.

Prof. Soyinka was at the Governor’s office on a condolence visit over the terror attack in Owo, last Sunday.

He described the terror attack as a message, adding that “We are dealing with people who are obsessed with domination; it is in their blood, it is in their Creed, their psyche that they need to dominate.”

The Nobel laureate noted that the attack was on Governor Akeredolu who has been showing leadership in terms of internal liberation.

“He was targeted and there is no question about that. It was not an accident, and it is passing a massage to the rest of us. That is why I’m here. I want the Governor to know that we have received the message. We understand it and we came to sympathize with him that he was selected as a medium of that message.

“So, the answer we must give to the message we all received is that we are not slaves. Here, on our own soil, having had the experience of century of disdain, contempt about us as black poeple. Again some characters come along calling themselves whatever, ISWAP, Boko Haram. So, all those groups including those who are just opportunists – the herdsmen, they are making a mistake. I want the Governor to realize they are making a mistake.

“I have been on this issue for quite some times. This invasion has been on and these herdsmen are all over the forests. At a time we thought it was Boko Haram, we didn’t know that Fulani herdsmen were capitalising on the fundamentalist insurgency and brutality.

“And that is why we see a nexus of operation between ISWAP, Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen. They work singularly, individually and they work collectively. I Know Ondo State has always been at the forefront of awareness.” Prof. Soyinka said.

Governor Akeredolu appreciated the Nobel laureate
for the condolence visit, saying that the state will remain hugely indebted to him.

“It is a cause that he has dedicated his life to, and I thank God for his life. The state wants to appreciate you for finding time to come at this hours of grieve.

“This is like a dagger drawn to our heart, and it is an assault on our psyche. The psyche of those of us in the South-West and Western Region.

“I think they think they can create some fears in us but they made a mistake because this will make us more fierce in our condemnation of their actions. And we are not hiding it.” Governor Akeredolu said.

Osun Election: Defeat already staring PDP in the face – Oyetola’s Campaign DG

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Council for the Osun 2022 governorship election, has described as laughable and unfounded, the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Ademola Adeleke that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola was asking civil servants in the State to surrender their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs.

A statement signed by the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Senator Ajibola Basiru, said the PDP was now running from pillar to post because defeat is already staring it in the face.

The Oyetola campaign team wondered where PDP and Ademola were when the workers’ union in the State openly endorsed the incumbent governor as its preferred choice one clear year before the election. It added that with what Governor Oyetola had done for workers in particular and generality of Osun people, he needs not coerce the electorate to vote for him come July 16.

“Ordinarily, we would have ignored the allegation by the Ademola Adeleke Campaign Council because it is laughable, unfortunate and unfounded. However, because those outside the State may be tempted to believe their lies, we felt compelled to puncture it with facts.

“It is sad that the Adeleke Campaign Council has consistently chosen the path of falsehood and misinformation as a campaign method and strategy. This is an indication that the PDP in Osun is down and it should stay down, accept its misfortune and stop making things worse for itself by polluting the political space with falsehood and propaganda.

“One, it is on record that since the creation of the State in 1991, this is the first time all workers’ unions will be unanimous in their decision to support a governorship candidate. Why does a popular and loved government need to threaten the workers that have already endorsed it for a second term? Why can’t the PDP candidate’s Council keep quiet when it has nothing meaningful to say? Must the Adeleke people embarrass themselves everywhere, everyday?

“Two, this is the first time workers will devote May Day to the adoption of a governorship candidate. They did it last year. They adopted our candidate even before his emergence. This is because he (Governor Oyetola) has consistently prioritised their welfare and fulfilled all the pledges he made to them. Our candidate has delivered the goods and the civil servants are happy.

“Therefore, the workers on their own have resolved to campaign and vote for him because they do not want any kindergarten politician to come experiment with Osun.

“Three, this is the first time since the creation of the State that an administration will run a government for four years without any industrial unrest. If workers were not treated well, can that feat be achieved? Why do we need to corece such people to vote for our party and candidate? They will naturally be our canvassers.

“Of course, we sympathise with the PDP’s desperation and lack of campaign prowess and materials. We feel their pain because nobody, no union, no group has found their candidate, Ademola Adeleke, good enough to adopt or support. They know they are a disappearing act. It is pathetic when a drowning man comes on air and spew out only misinformation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, it is worth repeating that Governor Oyetola did not, and will not ask civil servants to submit their PVCs under any guise. The Osun civil servants are in a good place and they know it. They also know that the PDP’s ship is at best a floundering and about-to-sink one.

“The PDP tried to use pensioners to blackmail the State government, it fell flat on their faces. This too, has failed. We therefore implore Mr Adeleke’s Campaign Council to stay down, hide its ignorance and prepare to attend the inauguration ceremony of Oyetola for second term,” the statement said.

Your overwhelming victory attested to your wide acceptability to all and sundry across the length and breadth of the country, tribe, age, gender and religion notwithstanding. You have shown an unparalled political sagacity and strict adherence to democratic tenets by your insistence on decision by the ballots and not by conscensus. This didn’t only reflect the fighting spirit in you but exhumed the unimaginable display of confidence despite all odds and obstacles.

“While some of us, who never hid our confidence and faith in your leadership and aspiration to the number one position in the country from the beginning, have suffered victimisation in our various states from opposing forces, we take solace in your emphatic success at the primary election. We are very proud of you sir and indeed further inspired in our respective aspirations by this victory through our chosen platforms.

“I also want to thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari for making possible an atmosphere for a free and fair election by delegates as against concensus as advised in certain quarters. You have justified the confidence Nigerians have in your leadership.

“I’m therefore using this medium to advise Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to use the opportunity of this victory as the APC’s candidate in the next general elections to immediately arrest and repair all the internal wranglings and stinking irregularities within the APC fold, that frustrated some loyal and decent party members out of the party.

I wish you good luck at the general election next year. Once again, congratulations sir”.

Waterfield Luxury Hotel Akobo Ibadan

It was a sad day for Engr Segun Oni and his team as Senator Adeyeye the In-coming Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria snubbed Segun Oni’s frequent calls to confirm if indeed he has directed all his supporters to return back to APC and work for BAO in Ise Orun and Emure.

Senator Adeyeye said, I don’t have any issue with Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji but his boss, and now that Fayemi has threaded the path of honour by supporting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the most honourable thing to do is to give support back to my party.

I have called all our AGGRIEVED members in SWAGGER to return back to BAO immediately, we cannot be doing anti party, infact The Presidential candidate must not know about it” we have forgiven Fayemi” he said.

“I also call on Ladi Owolabi to tow the path of honour, you can never build something on nothing, SDP is not a party recognized by INEC, it a political trap to remain in SDP, if you join me now, there’s a space in APC before the door is closed”

I have decided to ignore Segun because, there’s no way I can convince JAGABAN to release further funds to finance another party, that’s anti party, he will insult me, I have worked enough and I don’t want to be insulted” BAO is my son. “It is his turn” BAOlonkan . Adeyeye concluded.

Ekiti People’s Conscience hereby call on all Swagger to put the past behind in the spirit of oneness and genuine reconciliation and work for Asiwaju JAGABAN and Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji BAO.
