Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum ODCF held its general meeting today in Otu, Itesiwaju Local Government of Oyo State.

ODUDUWA NEWS correspondent at the meeting confirmed the attendance of several dignatories of the region.

In his words, the President of the Forum, Dr. Olusegun Ajuwon OON while giving account of stewardship admonished sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun to always embrace love and unity.

He implored Oke-Ogun indigenes to make use of the strength in their population to redirect both political and economic system of Oyo State.

He lamented the inability of the region to achieve its aim of making an indigene of Oke-Ogun the governor of Oyo State in the last general elections despite resilient efforts in advocating for such.

He however charged the indigenes not to relent in their bid to ensure that unity drives the course of the region at all times.

A notable historian, Dr. Adebimpe Aderounmu while speaking said, the region had not failed in its agitation to ensure that Oke-Ogun indigene becomes the governor of the State. He attributed the struggle to several things that have changed in the political firmament of the state where both the leading parties chose indigenes of the region as the deputy governoship candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Dr. Seidu Bello, the ODCF Chairman, Abuja branch in his words said, “Oke-Ogun Lokan project he was deeply involved still very much alive”. He stated that the struggle which started in 2019 had moved the region from zero level to higher level in terms of awareness despite insinuations from certain quarters that the’ Oke-Ogun Lokan’ project has failed.

Several other indigenes of Oke-Ogun who spoke at the gathering unanimously affirmed the role of unity and love in driving the region to the Promised Land. They frowned at the fact that Oke-Ogun with 10 LGs could not muster enough strength to secure senatorial tickets of both the leading parties in the forthcoming general elections.

They however concluded that come 2027 any party that does not produce Oke-Ogun indigene as its gubernatorial candidate would not be supported.

Among dignatories that graced the ocassion included the President of the Forum, Dr. Segun Ajuwon OON, former JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde OON, Prof. Y.K. Yusuf, General Toogun, Admiral Adedeji, Afenifere Spokesman, Dr. Jare Ajayi, foremost historian, Dr. Adebimpe Aderounmu, ODCF Chairman Abuja branch , Dr. Seidu Bello, traditional rulers, Aare of Ago-Are, Oba of Otu, representatives of APC, PDP among several others.

Wike: ‘We Are Children And We Shall Show Them’, Makinde Chides PDP Chairman, Iyorcha Ayu

The governor maintained that nobody can silence him from speaking against such injustice and demanding that the right thing be done.

Wike spoke at the inauguration of the Emohua campus of Rivers State University and the flag-off of staff quarters, performed by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday.

The governor said such persons would account for every wrong thing that they have done when the day of reckoning comes.

He said, “That is why I am telling the people there, look, it cannot work. You can’t take everything. If you take everything, it will purge you. So you better do the right thing now.

“Don’t sit there and think that you can muscle me and you can do everything; you can manipulate anything. You can think you have the number to make sure you take everything, but the time is coming when you will account for it.”

He insisted that the delivery of quality projects by him and his colleague governors will serve the PDP well in their respective states.

According to him, it will be erroneous for the PDP states that have failed to provide good governance to solicit votes from the electorate.

Performing the inauguration of the campus and flagging off of the staff quarters, Makinde made a veiled reference to the recent statement credited to the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, who said those calling for his resignation were still children when he and others were founding the party.

He said, “If children are doing all of these, I think what Nigeria needs are children. So, my brother Wike, you can be assured that Nigeria appreciates you.

Folarin, Adelabu Are Comedians, They Are No Match For Makinde — Oyo PDP

According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter for Oyo State, none of the candidates running for governor of the state in 2023 has the ability to unseat Governor “Seyi Makinde” given his track record of successful leadership.

The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Oyo State, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, stated this in an interview on Wednesday.

The current governor, according to the ruling party, would easily defeat the candidates for governor of the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress, Senator Teslim Folarin and Bayo Adelabu.

He said that because Governor Makinde had put in such a lot of effort on behalf of the state’s citizens, they would thank him by electing him to another four-year term at the polls.

“Adelabu and Folarin are comedians. They are only on the stage to entertain the people of Oyo State. They are not strong contenders and this is what you can get if you go round the state. They are no match for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.

“The massive infrastructure which the administration has given the people of Oke–Ogun will speak for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde. This will transform into votes. The LAUTECH crisis which the governor was able to resolve after so many years will make the people vote for him again. The APC governors could not resolve it even when their current presidential candidate, ( Asiwaju Bola Tinubu) was the chancellor of the university, they could not resolve it, but Governor Makinde did it. Students wasted about three years at home because of the crisis.

“In Ibadan, many developmental projects have been done and many are still going on. Those ones will count for him when it is election time.

“Apart from those ones, salaries and pensions are paid regularly because their welfare is uppermost in the mind of the governor. Our pensioners are no more dying of hunger. You will discover that about N12 billion is being injected into the economy of the state.
