Five suspected ritualists have been arrested in Ososa, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspects were apprehended following information received by the Police at Odogbolu divisional headquarters.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He said that the gang, who are responsible for a series of corpse exhumations within the Ososa community, we’re planning somewhere within the town to carry out another round of human parts harvest.
Identifying the suspects as Oshole Fayemi, Osemi Adesanya, Ismaila Seidu, Oseni Oluwasegun, and Lawal Olaiya, the police spokesman accused them of exhuming corpses from their graves and removing parts of their bodies for ritual purposes.
The suspected ritualists have ages ranging from 30 to 60 years old, Oyeyemi added in the statement.
“Upon the information, the DPO Odogbolu division, CSP Godwin Idehai, mobilized his men and stormed the suspects’ hideout where five of them were apprehended,” he said.
“On interrogation, the suspects made confessional statements that they were actually into the business of exhuming corpses from their graves and that they used to sell parts of such corpses to their standby buyers who need it for money-making rituals.”
Reacting to the arrest, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, directed that the suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
The Western Nigeria Security Network(WNSN) popularly known as Amotekun Corps Osun state chapter, has revealed that its men arrested a 24-year-old suspected rapist in Iwo, Osun on Friday.
He was alleged to have been keeping a 16-year-old girl in his room for three days while having carnal knowledge of her.
The Commander of the corps in Osun, retired Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, told newsmen in Osogbo on Saturday that the security outfit arrested a 28-year-old herbalist almost in Iwo.
The herbalist allegedly defrauded some persons and was also found to be in possession of fake 100 dollar and N1,000 notes.
“The suspects were arrested at different locations in Iwo on Friday after reports were made to Amotekun about their nefarious activities.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crimes and were handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution,’’ Adewinmbi said.
The Amotekun commander urged Osun residents to always assist security agencies with information that could help to prevent crime and apprehend criminals.

Reports say he was trekking from Amuloko area where he lived to Challenge as a result of his inability to get cash for transportation to the studio.
Olalomi Amole and Komolafe Olaiya had ended their Saturday morning programme Oyin Adun abruptly 20 minutes ahead of time when they received call of the medical emergency of Baba Bintin.
Scarcity of cash as a result of naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has triggered nationwide outrage.
The CBN had redesigned N200, N500 and N1000 and phased the old notes out of circulation, but some governors had approached the Supreme Court to challenge the apex bank’s action.
Following the court ruling on old notes, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered that only N200 old notes should remain legal tender.
However, the court later ruled that old N500 and N1000 notes should remain legal tender till December.
But the Federal Government is yet to comply with the order. While some commercial banks have been giving out old notes, they have refused to accept them as deposit from customers.

Men of Ogun State Police Command on Friday, March 10, arrested 45-year-old Semiu Adegesin, pictured above, for his contributory negligence that led to the death of a 3-year-old girl, Esther Samuel.
A statement by the spokesperson of the police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Imasayi Divisional Headquarters that a 13-year-old boy identified as Ope Babalola shot and k!lled the deceased with a dane gun at Kukudi Village, Imasayi.
‘’Upon the information, the DPO Imasayi division, SP Arowojeun Michael, quickly led his detectives to the scene where the deceased was met in the pool of her own blood. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect Semiu Adegesin loaded his dane gun, and carelessly kept it in an open place at the backyard of the house where children used to play. It was there the 13-year old Ope Babalola picked the loaded gun, pointed it at the deceased and pulled the trigger.”
Oyeyemi said the deceased was quickly taken to General Hospital Ilaro, where she was confirmed d€ad by the doctor on duty. He added that the owner of the dane gun was promptly arrested and taken to the station for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba, who described the incident as unfortunate, sympathized with the deceased’s family and appealed for calm as the case will be properly investigated. The CP has directed that the case be transferred to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

The Lagos lawmaker was dragged on social media, particularly on Twitter after being accused of referring to youths as children while pushing for the regulation of social media.
But during his recent appearance on TVC’s ‘Your View’, Elliot offered clarity on the matter, insisting he wasn’t referring to all youths on social media as children but those who were cursing Lagos Speaker tMudashiru Obasa.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a businessman, Kingsley Celestino at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos over 9.40 kilograms of heroin concealed in false bottoms of his two travelling bags.
Kingsley, a business class passenger on Qatar Airline flight was arrested at Terminal 2 of the MMIA on Saturday 4th March on his way to India. Though a native of Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, the 49-year-old was travelling with a Guinean international passport.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect frequently travels to India on business class tickets. He claimed he deals in clothing business between Nigeria and India. It was further established that he obtained the Guinean international passport in Guinea Bissau, where he said his mother came from.
In the same vein, a 24-year-old passenger travelling to Oman, Etounu Monday, was intercepted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Monday 27th February during the outward clearance of Ethiopian Airline flight ET 950 while attempting to export 1.924kg of skunk concealed in cream tubes.
At the Tincan seaport, Lagos, NDLEA operatives on Friday 3rd March, recovered 244 parcels of Canadian Loud weighing 79 kilograms concealed in medium size wooden sound system speakers packed inside two out of four used vehicles in a container marked CRSU9258348 coming from Toronto via Montreal, Canada. The imported vehicles used as cover for the drugs are a 2009 Jeep Wrangler and a 2009 Honda Ridgeline.
Similarly, NDLEA officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, DOGI, attached to courier firms in Lagos intercepted a consignment of nine parcels of methamphetamine concealed in native black soap, Dudu Osun, heading to Europe. No fewer than 778,190 pills of pharmaceutical opioids including tramadol and a drum of 270kg Methylene Chloride were recovered by operatives from a suspect, Eric Pepe Yohanna, 33, in Jalingo, Taraba state on Monday 27th Feb following credible intelligence. Also seized from him is a Daylong tricycle used in distributing the illicit substances.
In Adamawa state, the house of a wanted notorious drug dealer, Mamudu Njobdi at Sebore, Gyalla road Dougada ward, Mubi was raided in the early hours of Monday 27th Feb where he was arrested and drug exhibits recovered. The 31-year-old suspect was earlier arrested on Wednesday 22nd Feb at his drug joint in Kolere water board but mobilized thugs to attack NDLEA officers and in the process escaped with exhibits.
While a suspect, Geoffrey Okpani, 31, was arrested at Bukuru area of Jos, Plateau state with 27.45kg of cannabis, Ajayi Tope, 30, was arrested on Saturday 4th March at Area 5 Ile-Ife, in Ife south local government area of Osun state with 18kg of same substance.
In Lagos, NDLEA operatives on Friday 3rd March raided De-Niche Hotel & Suites, Omole estate, Ojodu Ikeja where 24 suspects were arrested and different quantities of illicit drugs recovered from them.
Reacting to the arrests and seizures of the past week, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) commended the officers, men and women of MMIA, NAIA, Tincan, Taraba, Adamawa, Plateau, Osun and Lagos Commands as well as DOGI for their efforts. He charged them and their counterparts across the country to intensify the ongoing mop up operations to deny political thugs access to illicit substances ahead of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections this weekend.
The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barrister Julius Abure, on Monday, debunked the report that the Southwest chapter of the party has collapsed its structure into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lagos Reporters had earlier reported that The National in its report noted that LP in the SouthWest alligned with APC ahead of the 2023 general election.
It was stated that the alleged Southwest LP chairman, Omotoso Banji, led the party leadership to collapse its structure in Akure, Ondo State capital.
However, the National Chairman of the party in a chat with newmen correspondent described the report as fake.
According to Abure, the alleged leader of the party in the region, Banji had been expelled from the party decades ago over his involvement in anti-party activities.
He further stated that Banji is not an official of the LP, hence he can not take such a stand or decision on behalf of the party.
Abure wondered why the APC would rely on the words of Banji that the Labour Party would collapse its structure in the region.
He said, “instead of the APC to go and redeemed their image and apologise to Nigerians for maladministration, they are looking for cheap publicity.
“Nigerians have been deceived before, they were deceived in 2015 and 2019, and they can’t be deceived again in 2023.
“The All Progressives Congress should go and redeem their image, and stop using someone we have expelled over the years, who is their member for propaganda.
“It is ridiculous and laughable for them to say they decamped in the Southwest, I dispel the report.”
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has condemned the attack on supporters of his party in Lagos State on saturday.
It was reported that Suspected hoodlums attacked LP’s supporters said to be on their way to the venue of the party’s presidential campaign rally.
Reacting to the development, Obi via his verified Instagram handle on Saturday, condemned the attack, saying that such political opposition attacks will not be tolerated.
He said, “I received reports that 4 members of the Obidient Family were attacked and injured in Lagos ahead of today’s rally. That incident, premeditated or not, is deeply troubling. Such act stands vehemently condemned.
“We cannot continue to tolerate attacks on members of the political opposition, often fuelled by the incendiary rhetorics of political leaders. The new Nigeria that we seek is one founded on peace and justice, and the respect for the rule of law.
“I call on the Lagos State security agencies to fish out those responsible for the attacks.
A new generation bank in Ekiti on Sunday ran into trouble waters as the Central Bank of Nigeria, uncovered N6 million of new naira notes hoarded by its branch along bank road, Ado-Ekiti.
The Apex bank Deputy Director, Oluwole Owoeye uncovered the hoarded newly redesigned currencies while leading a team of officials on monitoring exercise in the state.
Owoeye accused the bank of deliberately hoarding the new banknotes it had collected from the CBN for almost two weeks.
The Deputy Director who said there was no excuse for keeping the money, saying Deposit Money Banks are sabotaging the apex bank’s efforts in making the new notes available for Nigerians.
His words, “I’m currently at the Bank, Ado-Ekiti as part of this monitoring compliance with the guidelines by CBN. They have six million which they have collected from the bank for almost two weeks. They have not dispensed any. They said they are yet to configure their ATM.
“I don’t know why. I have brought their attention to the penalty clause of one million per day. They have five ATMs. They don’t have any reason for keeping this money.
“The zonal service manager, Mr Tunde Onipede promised that by 10am latest tomorrow (Monday), because I told him by latest 10:00 am I’ll be here and I want to see the machine dispensing this money.
