The family Court sitting in Iyaganku area of Ibadan, Oyo State has today remanded three boys for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Ibadan.
The culprits said to have been arrested following an intelligence report by ODUDUWA NEWS and made available to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nigerian Police Force, Iyaganku, that a young teenage student was raped and was neglected by the whole community after the rape incident.
The case file was brought to the hearing of the Judge today at exactly 10am and subsequently referred the file to the Department of Public Prosecution DPP of Oyo State.
She thereafter ordered that the culprits be remanded at Abolongo Prison in Oyo Town pending the time that the Department of Public Prosecution will conclude with its legal advice.
The culprit identified as Abdulahi said to have perpetrated the dastardly act with two other accomplices at Alagogo, Ajibode Community, Akinyele Local Government.
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has dispelled rumours that it devalued the Naira, describing the news as fake.
The CBN made the denial on Thursday in a statement by Isa AbdulMumin, CBN acting director, Corporate Communications.
The CBN was reacting to a viral news that it had devalued the Naira from about N465 to N630 to a dollar.
“The attention of the CBN has been drawn to a news report by Daily Trust Newspaper of June 1, titled “CBN Devalues Naira to 630/one dollar ”.
“We wish to state categorically that this news report, which in the imagination of the newspaper, is replete with outright falsehoods and destabilising innuendos,” he said.
According to Mr AbdulMumin, the report reflected the potentially willful ignorance of the media organisation as to the workings of the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the exchange rate at the Investors’ and Exporters’ (I&E) window traded this morning June 1, at N465/one dollar and has been stable around this rate for a while.
“The public is hereby advised to ignore the news report by Daily Trust in its entirety, as it is speculative and calculated at causing panic in the market.
“Media practitioners are advised to verify their facts from the CBN before publishing in order not to misinform the public,” he said.
The Oyo State House of Assembly has resolved at its Plenary today to refer the recommendations of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters on the removed Chairman of the Irepo Local Government, Sulaimon Lateef Adeniran (Santana).
The sacked Chairman of the Council was earlier suspended following the allegations of gross misconduct and anti party activities.
Recall, ODUDUWA NEWS had earlier reported how the sacked council chairman was alleged of anti-party activities by members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the Local Government.
House in its resolution referred him to the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency to investigate the alleged misappropriation and corruption leveled against him.
The House noted that the accused Chairman is removed from office in line with Section 21 of the Local Government Law, 2001as ammended.
It therefore directed the Vice Chairman to immediately assume the position of acting Chairman while the Leader of the House, Mr Busari Adegbenro is to fill the position of the acting Vice Chairman
The report found the Local Government Chairman culpable of allegations of diversion of public funds meant for the purchase of Toyota Camry 2016 model. Report said he purchased Lexus for his office without approval and also purchased substandard Toyota Corolla for the office of the Head of Local Government Administration.
Recall that the Chairman, Mr Lateef Sulaiman Adediran had earlier been indicted by the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government in the State and the report of the special investigation was submitted to the House.
The House also directed the Executive Arm of Government through the Ministries of Local Government and Chieftancy Matters and Justice to ensure that Mr. Lateef Sulaiman Adediran refund a sum #4,616,800.00 to the coffers of Irepo Local being the difference between unreasonable #5.8m spent on replacement of covers of exercise books.

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu Aketi , SAN, CON, has warned petroleum marketers and owners of fuel stations in the State against hoarding the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The warning became necessary after long queues surfaced at filling stations across the state, notably in Akure, the state capital since Monday.
The Governor said all petrol stations in the state should dispense fuel in their tanks to ease the people of the long hours spent at fuel stations.
Consequently, Governor Akeredolu has directed the Governor’s Task Force to move around the State and deal decisively with any fuel station found hoarding the product.
The organised labour has kicked against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policy statement on the fuel subsidy removal, saying it has grave implications for the polity.
The president while delivering his inaugural speech yesterday in Abuja, informed Nigerians that the era of fuel subsidy is gone.
According to the president, funds for subsidies will be diverted to other things like public infrastructure, education, health care and jobs.
However, the development hasn’t gone down well with organised labour which has repeatedly rejected several moves to remove fuel subsidy in the past.
Reacting to the development, head information department of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Benson Upah said the organised labour was not aware of the president’s consultation with critical stakeholders before embarking on the decision.
Benson, who described the move as having grave implications on national polity, said the labour centre is waiting keenly for when the policy will translate into figures before responding.
He said, “Our response and indeed, the response of Nigerians is contingent on when this policy statement translates into figures.
“I am not aware the new president held consultations with the critical stakeholders like organised labour before making this policy statement with grave implications for the polity, we are waiting, Nigerians are waiting,” he said.
The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers in the service of the state, declaring the welfare would be part of the major priorities in the next of four years
Abiodun made this known during an interaction with workers at his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office, where he also commended the state work force for its unalloyed support.
He added that his administration in the second term would also look for ways to continue to improve the lot of the public servants so that they can continue to be more efficient and professional in the discharge of their duties.
“I want to pledge to you that I will continue to look for ways and means to improve you so that you will continue to be more intellectually and professionally built, so that you can hold your own anywhere you go in the world.
“I also want to pledge that this next four years, your welfare will be one of my priorities, the things that I have been working on over the past few months by the grace of God will come to fruition in the next few weeks; they are some of the things we’ve been discussing. To the promises I have made to you, you will see changes very soon,” he said.
Abiodun, while thanking the public servants in the state for their support towards the successful implementation of the ISEYA Agenda of his administration in the first term, noted that the success recorded was as a result of the cordial relationship between the public service and the political office holders.
“I want to thank you for your support and collaboration, it is me and you, this is our government, the success recorded in the last term was because of you. More successes we are going to record this time and it is going to be because of you and I together,” Abiodun added.
The state helmsman while charging the Permanent Secretaries in the state public service who are Accounting Officers in their various ministries that would hold the fort until the appointment of new Special Advisers and Commissioners, said that he has no doubt in their ability to do a perfect job.
” I am going to need all the support and cooperation I can get from you Permanent Secretaries, you are the Accounting Officers of your various ministries, pending the time that we appoint advisers and commissioners, I want to enjoin you to please hold unto your ministries and be very accountable. I do not have a doubt that I will not find anyone of you wanting in your various responsibilities, you are all very experienced and you are the best of the civil service,” he said.
Abiodun, however, assured the people of the state that his administration in the second term would ensure the commencement of dry port in Kajola, Ogun Central Senatorial District of the state, adding that the commencement of the port which would have all the facilities needed, would not only make the state a place to be for investors, but would have an impact on the ease of doing business in the state.
The Governor who also assured that his administration would continue to build more affordable housing units for the use of public servants, submitted that “We will continue to build until we ensure that every desirous civil servant that wants a house will have a roof over his head as a landlord, not as a tenant”.
Earlier in his remark, the Head of Service; Kola Fagbohun, who congratulated the governor on his successful inauguration for a second term, assured him that public servants in the state would continue to add more value towards the actualization of the ISEYA Agenda of his administration.
Dele Alake, a former Lagos commissioner of information and strategy, says he has not been appointed as the spokesperson of President Bola Tinubu.
Hours after the inauguration on Monday, Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, announced on his Twitter handle that Alake has been appointed as the president’s spokesperson.
But speaking on the issue with TheCable, the former director of strategic communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign, said the news of his appointment was fake.
“It was fake news. I’m always surprised when news people failed to recognise fake unsigned stories,” Alake said.
Alake was the commissioner for information and strategy in Lagos between 1999 and 2007 when Tinubu was the governor of the state.
In 2014, he was appointed as the director of media and communication of the Buhari campaign organisation – his return to national politics after a brief hiatus from public roles.

The federal government through the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has appointed Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration, Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola as the acting Comptroller General of Immigration.
A letter dated May 26, 2023, signed by the Secretary of the board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, a copy obtained by Daily Trust on Monday in Abuja, said the appointment takes effect from Tuesday 30th May 2023.
The statement reads: “I write to convey the approval of the Chairman of the Board for you to cover duties of the Office of the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) as the most senior Deputy Comptroller General (DCG).
“You are enjoined to bring to bear your wealth of experience on the job as well as Consolidate on the ongoing transformation of the Service.”
The former Comptroller-General Isah Jere’s extended tenure expired on the 29th of May, 2023.
President Bola Tinubu has directed the Department of State Security Service to immediately vacate the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The President gave the directive when reports that DSS officials stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their work place, was brought to his attention.
The President said if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably.
The Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Ojo, has found Hilton hotel owner, Rahmon Adedoyin, guilty in the murder of Timothy Adegoke.
The Judge sentenced him to death by hanging in the judgement delivered today.
Adegoke died at Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife in 2021 and the owner of the hotel, Dr Adedoyin alongside six of his staff namely, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola were standing trial on 18 counts of conspiracy, murder, felony, indecent interference of the corpse, alteration, and cancellation of receipt and oath-taking to prevent justice.
