A traditionalist, Onifade Oyekanmi, has narrated how he collaborated with his friends to kill a 45-year-old Fulani woman, Usman Aminat for money ritual.
Onifade, popularly called Ife, disclosed that he committed the crime along with four other friends at his Iyana Ajia residence in Ibadan, Oyo State on March 13, 2024.
His accomplices include, Oyebode Olalekan, 40, Ifayemi Ojeleke, 32 and Jamiu Lasisi, 40.
He added that he met the deceased at a marabout place and after exchanging pleasantries she offered to take him to another marabout in Ogbomoso in Oyo State.
“The day she took me to Ogbomoso, we were told the marabout had travelled to Kwara State. She later called to inform me she was back and I asked her to come and meet me at my resident in Ibadan.
“She left Apomu to Ibadan and when she came, I and my friends strangled her to death. One of them dismembered her bodies and we used some part of her organs. Her intestine was burnt along with pig and goat’s intestines into powder form.
“We wanted to use her for money ritual but the Muslim cleric that told me about the ritual has not given me the instructions on how to use the powder mixture before we were caught”, he added.
A professor of Law at Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun, Yinka Olomojobi, has been killed by unknown gunmen in the Iperu area of the state on Friday, April 22.
According to Channels TV, Olomojobi was shot dead for allegedly refusing to be whisked away by the assailants. While he was shot dead, two residents were kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination.
The gunmen who were said to be eight in number and dressed in black, stormed an event centre on Sagamu Road and began shooting indiscriminately. Eyewitnesses say the late Prof Olowojobi was shot in the chest. At the same time, a manager of a car stand known as Dare, and one other yet-to-be-identified person, were said to have been taken captive by the gunmen.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, said one person had been arrested in connection with the incident. “A two-week-old security man was arrested based on reasonable suspicion as police commence discreet investigation. A report from the Iperu Division indicates that a kidnapping and murder incident occurred on the 19th of April, 2024, at about 9:20 pm. A suspicious coincidence led the police to arrest one Awada Ishaya of Plateau state who was employed two weeks ago when the event centre was launched as a security man for further interrogation.
The lecturer was taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits and rescue the kidnapped victims. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.”Odutola said.
Automotive gas oil (AGO), also known as diesel, sold for as high as N1,500 at fuel stations in Lagos and Abuja on Saturday.
TheCable observed that Mobil and TotalEnergies fuel stations in Festac Town, sold for N1,300 per litre and N1,500 per litre, respectively.
In Abuja, the price of the product was N1,450 per litre at Eterna, Banex, and N1,500 a litre at Emadeb, Kado.
The prices have remained the same despite Dangote refinery announcing a reduction in its costs of diesel to marketers from N1,200 to N1,000 on April 16.
Speaking on the issue, Abubakar Maigandi, president, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said marketers still have old stocks, hence the current price of the product.

In response to recent calls for secession in the South West region, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to take strong action against anyone threatening the unity and independence of Nigeria.
Tinubu’s statement follows incidents involving the Yoruba Nation movement attempting to seize government buildings in Oyo State.
Over the weekend, individuals believed to be Yoruba Nation supporters wearing military attire stormed the Oyo State secretariat in Ibadan in an effort to take control of the State House of Assembly. They were swiftly apprehended by security forces.
The attempted takeover was reportedly led by Modupe Onitiri-Abiola, who, in a widely circulated video, proclaimed the secession of Yorubaland from Nigeria.
During a meeting with Afenifere leaders at the State House, President Tinubu reiterated his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and democratic principles, emphasizing that those who challenge the country’s sovereignty will face severe repercussions.
Tinubu assured the delegation that his administration is resolute in defending Nigeria’s borders and safeguarding its citizens, highlighting progress made in combating terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
The president further stated that his government will not yield to those attempting to disrupt the nation’s stability and will intensify efforts to maintain security.
These statements from Tinubu come in the midst of escalating demands for self-governance from various ethnic groups, particularly in the South East and South West regions.

The Oyo State commissioner of police, CP Adebola Hamzat has listed out the names of the masked men who invaded the state secretariat on Saturday morning.
Hamzat in a statement made available to the press on Monday sated that “apart from providing clarity and dispelling speculations surrounding last Saturday’s event, it is pertinent as law enforcement to provide the General Public especially through our revered Media partners with a detailed account of what transpired with specific emphasis on arrests and exhibits recovered based on verifiable facts and truth.”
“On Saturday, at about 0855hrs, information was received that some men dressed in military-like camouflage, armed with pump action semi-automatic rifles, riding on motorcycles, were sighted moving into the main city from Olomi axis of Ibadan. At about 0915hrs, the hoodlums later known as Yoruba Nation Agitation Group were trailed to the State Secretariat, spreading from the Flyover to within the Premises of the Governor’s Office, and hoisted their Flag at the House of Assembly, proclaiming the creation of a “democratic republic of the Yoruba.”
With Police re-inforcement, the miscreants were warned to dispatch. The agitators turned violent and opened fire on the Police and a detachment of Amotekun corps present. The Police responded and were joined by Operation Burst Patrol teams and Personnel of other security agencies who suppressed the treason and dealt with the agitators in line with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). A Total of (21) Twenty-One Suspects were arrested, (7) Seven rifles made up of (5) Five English Pump Action semi-automatic rifles, (2) Two Wooden double barreled guns and other items of exhibits as displayed, were recovered.
While declaring this act as criminal, unpatriotic and a clear case of treasonable felony and terrorism to be meted with adequate sanctions through purposeful prosecutions, the Command re-assures the good people of Oyo State that it remains solidly unwavering to the protection of their lives and property as constitutionally required by the laws of the land.

Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a dispatch rider, Matthew Odah, 27, for selling three iPhones worth N1.7 million entrusted to him for delivery.
The RRS disclosed this in a statement on its X handle on Sunday.
The statement partly read, “Odah, on August 23, 2023, while working as a dispatch rider, collected one iPhone 14 ProMax (128 GB) and two iPhone 11 (128 and 68 GB) meant for delivery to a customer in Lekki, Lagos.
The suspect confessed to having sold the three iPhones in Obalende for N300,000.
The Nigerian Army has paraded some Yoruba Nation agitators who attacked Oyo State Secretariat yesterday.
This was contained in a statement made available via its spokesman, Nwachukwu Oyeama as read in part:
“This is to notify the general public that on Saturday 13 April 2024, sequel to the report of an attack on the State Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, troops promptly responded to the incident and had contact with adherents of the Yoruba Nation dressed in foreign military camouflage with berets and armed with dangerous weapons in buses and motorbikes.
“Upon encountering own troops, the Yoruba nation adherents engaged the troops in a shootout. Troops, utilizing superior firepower, successfully subdued the attackers, who subsequently retreated in disarray. As a result of this engagement, nine members of the irredentist group were apprehended, while one Semi Automatic Pump Action rifle and ammunition were recovered.
“Currently, troops are on the track of the fleeing adherents, and the situation is under control.
“We assure members of the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and security of the general area”.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) has sealed a popular groceries and cosmetics supermarket, Pinnacle in Dugbe area of Ibadan over alleged sale of fake products, Leadership Newspaper reports.
The supermarket, usually a beehive of activities was now a shadow of itself as the gate leading to the premises was shut with an inscription directing customers to its branch at Challenge.
Management of the supermarket cited technical issues as reason for its closure.
An inside source who pleaded for anonymity however revealed that problem started on Tuesday, 2nd April , 2024 when NAFDAC surveillance team stormed the mall to enforce total shutdown of the premises, thereby forcing shoppers out of the supermarket.
“The NAFDAC team came inside the mall and told us to close, even though people were many inside who wanted to do shopping but they couldn’t because the technical issue started and they all went away in disappointment”, the source said.
A top ranking officer at Ibadan zonal office of NAFDAC disclosed that the directive for the closure came from Lagos office and was enforced.
According to the NAFDAC source, the agency had been on the trail of Pinnacle while the CEO had been invited since January, but she failed to turn up, hence the reason for the total shutdown.
“The woman displayed a total disregard to authority despite the fact that fake products were traced to the mall. She was invited to the Lagos office but didn’t oblige. Nobody is above the law,” the source said.
