Adegoke’s Murder: Police Alerts Interpol To Arrest Fleeing Adedoyin’s Son

The Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police has contacted the International Criminal Police Organization also known as Interpol to assist in the arrest of Roheem Adedoyin the prime suspect in the mysterious murder of Mr.Timothy Adegoke, a Master’s degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

Roheem, the key suspect, is a son of Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotels and Resort where Adegoke lodged and was murdered.

Roheem, who is on the run and believed to have fled the country, is wanted in connection with the mysterious death of Adegoke.

A suspect in Police custody over the crime was said to have confessed that Roheem who is the Managing Director of the hotel, organized and supervised how Adegoke’s corpse was evacuated from the facility and buried without informing the police

A credible police source also confirmed to Police detectives that investigation is ongoing to unravel the mysterious death of Adegoke, while more suspects would be arrested.

According to the source: “Already, Police has contacted Interpol and Immigration to effect the arrest of one of the prime suspects who is the son of the owner of the hotel. The suspect is on the run but we will surely arrest him and make him face justice.

“The IRT has interrogated all the suspects as well as met with the family of the deceased. The investigation is going on well and we have gotten a remand order to keep the suspects in custody pending investigation in line with the Administration of Criminal Justice Law.”

The source added that the suspects would be charged to court soon, assuring the public that justice would be served.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has directed that the matter must be investigated thoroughly and that is what the police is doing,” the source said.

When contacted to verify the development, IRT Commander, DCP Tunji Disu declined to comment, saying the Force Public Relations Department would give an update on the case at the appropriate time.

Adegoke, who was until his death the Director of Finance of Xiamien Stone Limited, Abuja, had traveled to Ile-Ife on Friday, November 5, 2021, to write his last examination.

According to the investigation, he flew from Abuja to Akure, Ondo State, and later proceeded by road to Ile-Ife.

He chose to lodge at Hilton Hotels and Resort where he died mysteriously and was subsequently buried in a nearby bush.

Meanwhile, the IRT has rejected the second autopsy report presented to it by the doctors who conducted a post mortem on the exhumed body of the deceased.

The Police unit according to insider sources said that the report is not acceptable to the Police due to the fact that family members of the deceased were not contacted during the conduct of the autopsy.

It would be recalled that there were reports on Thursday that the office of the Inspector-General of Police had received the autopsy report by the doctors who carried out the post mortem but there is no formal communication to the IRT on it.

The Police detectives attached to the intelligence unit are still conducting investigations into the remote and proximate cause of the dastardly act and had vowed that no stone will be left unturned to apprehend the culprits.

We Are Not Owing Any Teacher 2020 Leave Bonus -Oyo Govt

Dr. Adeniran stated this today in Ibadan, warning primary school teachers against plans on embarking on any illegal procession or protest within the state.

He said “some political emissaries are going about, telling people that the government is owing them 2020 annual leave arrears and that the government is not taking it seriously. But this is not true. It is incorrect” .

“No primary school teacher is owed monthly salary, or leave bonus today. The government has paid their dues”.

Dr. Nureni Adeniran, admonished the unscrupulous group of teachers, aligning themselves with disgruntled politicians, to rather show gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde who has consistently paid their salaries on 25th of every month, despite the economic instability in the nation.

He added that a govt who abolished the 6-year waiting period of teachers within Grade Level 13 and above; consistently paid their 13th month salaries; and ensured payment of arrears owed by previous administration deserves better treatment by its workforce in the education sector.

Dr. Adeniran added that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration also ensured that the waiting period of teachers from GL 13 and above has been reviewed to three years, rather than the six years enacted by previous administrations.

The Board Chairman therefore wondered why some teachers will yield themselves as political agents, not minding its consequences in public service.

Adeniran further enjoined teachers who may be having issues with their accounts to visit the Finance department of the Board or their various banks, rather than working against the directives of the government.

Dr. Adeniran therefore urged them not to engage in any act that violates the law or threatens the peace of the state, adding that they should follow the right channel in laying any form of complaints.

Nigerian Graduates Are Not Problem Solvers Because They Are Taught Outdated Theories – Akeredolu

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has said that institutions of higher learning in the country will only be relevant when they start producing problem-solvers and not just certificate holders.

Governor Akeredolu said the hollow repetition of outdated and inapplicable theories which are taught in the institution of learning will only produce highly certificated citizens who lack capacity to solve basic problems.

The Governor declared that all true centres of learning must not be quiet at this crucial moment in the country, adding that “We live in a period when the interventions of true intellectuals are needed to illumine darkened paths.”

Arakunrin Akeredolu spoke at the 12th and 13th combined Convocation ceremonies of the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Oyo State.

Governor Akeredolu was also conferred with an award of Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) of the University.

He was accompanied to the event by his wife, Chief Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu.

Other dignitaries on the Governor’s entourage included Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura; Oba Fredrick Akinruntan Obateru, the Olugbo of Ugbo land; Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin; members of the House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun; President of the Customary court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Eunice Alade; members of the state executive council led by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu; Justice Alero Akeredolu of the State High Court; Executive Chairmen of local governments led by the Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, Oloruntogbe Augustine; commissioner-designates and recently appointed Special Advisers.

Also at the event were Chief Akin Olujinmi, SAN; Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, Rear Admiral Samuel Ilesanmi Alade (Rtd), Prince Ademola Adegoroye, members of the past state executive council and other important dignitaries.

The Governor noted that all activities in the institutions of learning must be geared towards self-reliance, saying science must be promoted above superstitious beliefs.

“Any institution of higher learning or research centre whose focus is not on these practical means of coming out of doldrums betrays its mandate,” he said.

Governor Akeredolu tasked the academia not to be tired of educating the people on the best way possible out of the current predicament as a country.

“They must enlighten us about the concept of federalism. We must know the limits and responsibilities of states as component units in a federation.

“We should be certain of the meaning of a constitution as the basic law of a democratic country. There must not be doubts as regards political ideas such as sovereignty, legitimacy, rights and duties of citizens.

“They must educate the people to understand why all authorities must be subordinate to the people and civil service must be made to actualize this objective.

“Our centres of research and learning must be ready to come up with innovations on how best to plant our food and feed our people. We must depend on our children to fix our roads, hospitals and secure the land,” Arakunrin Akeredolu said.

He stressed that the education of a citizen is the most important assignment of the society which he said is represented by the government at all levels.

Governor Akeredolu said the challenges faced by any society must form the basis for the design of a curriculum of instruction, adding that its content must reflect the aggregate of the collective aspirations towards development.

“The current process of certification, promoted vigorously by a system which appears content churning out graduates without requisite capacity for the qualifications with which they are saddled, must be reviewed.

“Our universities must not be seen as centres of preparing young people for an ultimate carnival-like procession culminating in the award of degrees and diplomas which are a veritable embarrassment to the holders.

“Certificates are mere evidence of participation in a process. They do not necessarily bear testimonies to capacity. The disturbing reality which finds expression in the presence of multitude of unemployed graduates in an underdeveloped country should be a source of deep anxiety.

“While inadequate funding may be adduced as a factor militating against qualitative education, it is disingenuous and escapist to look away from the fundamental cause of progressive rot in the system.

“There has been a disconnect between the social realities and the pretentious emptiness served as diets of instruction,” Governor Akeredolu lamented.
