37 herdsmen, 5000 cows chased out of Ondo forests – Amotekun

At least, 37 herdsmen and 5, 000 cows illegally occupying the Ondo State’s forest reserves have been chased out by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, for violating the order of the state government.

This followed the recent order handed down by state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, that all herdsmen illegally occupying the state’s forest reserves should leave or register with the state government to make their operations legitimate.

It was gathered that in spite of the order, the herdsmen have remained in the forest, prompting Amotekun corps to chased out some of them.

The state Commander of the Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, who disclosed this, said his men were still in the forest to flush out the remaining erring herders.

Adeleye said some of the herdsmen, who could not cope with the terms and conditions of the state government, had met with the corps and had opted to move out of the state peacefully.

He disclosed that the suspects were arrested in Ala, Oda and Ofosu forests of the state.

He said: “Some of them have opted to leave the state because they couldn’t meet with our terms and conditions.

“They came through the Chairman of Miyatti Allah in the state.

“Some opted to go to Osun, Edo and Kogi States.

“So, our men escorted them to the boundaries of those states.

“We have to monitor their movements out of the state so that they would not destroy farms on their way out.

“37 herders have been arrested with about 5, 000 cows.

“Majority of the herders have been coming to us through their chairman and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Hausa Matters.

“We will hand over the culprits to the chairman to lead them out and anybody caught again after this would be arrested and prosecuted.”

The Amotekun boss implored the farmers to always call on the corps whenever the cows invaded and destroyed their farms, saying the corps would respond immediate.

Hon. Iyiola who said he came into politics because of his beliefs that everyone is needed to bring about the desired change in the socio-political space in the country called on parents to monitor and give proper training to their children. He noted that improper upbringing and lack of home training also contribute to the security menace.

Reps member meet relevant stakeholders to solve security challenges in Oyo State

Ìbàdàn North Federal Rep, Hon. Olaide Akínrẹ̀mí has solidarized with everyone and all families who has been affected by one issue of insecurity or the other.
In a signed release, the Federal Honorable stated that either directly or indirectly, we all are affected by these incidents, as he has had to render financial support to some people in his Constituency aftermath of their losses to rogues.

Read details below;

On The Rising Insecurity Incidents In Ọ̀yọ́ State.

The spate of terrible, sad and heinous incident which is being witnessed in Ọ̀yọ́ State these last few months is one which breaks the heart of our people.

Frequent and somehow coordinated activities of recalcitrant herdsmen, thugs, bandits and street urchins among others has suddenly turned our not so long ago peaceful pacesetter state into a dreadful habitat.

Lives are being lost, farms are being destroyed, public infrastructure are getting vandalized, people are getting robbed and shops are being looted. From one zone to another, cases of unrest continue to threaten the peace of our people.

Quite a number of these incidents has occurred in my Constituency, with some coming to my personal attention, and within the confines of my capacity, I have financially supported a few who were victim of these rogues.

In addition, I have through my office reached out to relevant stakeholders in a call for support for our dear state, and this I have done from the lowest cadre of law enforcement to the Inspector General of Police, IG Mohammed Adamu.

I have since followed up my initial engagement with the Inspector General of Police, bringing to his attention updates which I am certain has also reached him from the Ọ̀yọ́ State Commissioner of Police. I also have made it a point of duty to reach out to the Ọ̀yọ́ State Commissioner of Police personally, as well as to some DPO’s in my Constituency too.

This move of mine is imperative for anyone who wants the progress of Ọ̀yọ́ state, as we only stand to lose if these series of occurrences continue unabated. We all are affected by these torrid events irrespective of political, social, and religious delineation among others.

More so, it is important that we sustain the legacy of peace left by late Sen. Abiola Ajimobi’s administration. The last administration laid a solid security foundation, one which is worthy of being consolidated upon in the best interest of our people.

At this point, all hands need to be on deck to successfully checkmate our security challenges. The Ọ̀yọ́ State Government needs to wake up, and with immediacy implement strategies that will bring lasting solution to all our insecurity issues.

We can’t afford to allow a total breakdown of law and order as the current state of things isn’t encouraging, and I want to charge the ruling party of our dear state not to view this as being opposed, but as a clarion call for expedite action to protect the people of Ọ̀yọ́ state.

Our farmers in Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun, business owners in Ìbàdàn, Ogbomoso, Ọ̀yọ́ town and indeed the entire people of Ọ̀yọ́ state in general need a safe environment to live, as well as to carry out their daily activities.

I want to appreciate and also encourage all law enforcement agents in Ọ̀yọ́ State, especially members of the Nigeria Police Force for their dedication and hard work.
The task may seem arduous, but I have no doubts in your capacity to tame all forms of unrest just like you did in the times of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Lastly, I commiserate with the families of those whose lives has been cut short by unpatriotic and unscrupulous members of our society across Ọ̀yọ́ state. It is my sincere prayers that the departed souls find eternal rest.

God Bless Ìbàdàn North Federal Constituency.
God Bless Ọ̀yọ́ State.
God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Prince Akínrẹ̀mí Jagaban.
MHR, Ìbàdàn North Federal Constituency.

Gov. Oyetola tasks politicians on human capital development, inaugurates Bisi Akande Shopping Complex

The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday inaugurated the multi-million state-of-the-art Chief Adebisi Akande Shopping Complex in Ila-Orangun.

This is even as the Governor charged political office holders, particularly elected officers, on the need to focus more on people-oriented and human capital development projects aimed at transforming the people and the society.

The newly-built and inaugurated shopping complex named after the worthy and illustrious leader and former Governor of Osun, Chief Akande, was executed by the Chairman, Ila Local Government, Hon. Joshua Ademola Adediji.

Addressing the people at the inauguration ceremony, Oyetola said it had become imperative for those in government to prioritise the welfare and general well-being of the people to which government is formed.

Oyetola who described local government as the closest to the people, said its relevance to existence could only be justified in the volume of impacts made in the lives of the communal and the society at large.

According to him, the relevance of local government is only to the extent to which it serves the needs of the people at the grassroots.

Oyetola said it behoves all leaders to diligently identify what the needs of the people are and make conscious efforts to meet those needs, adding that, it is sacrosanct for those in the position of authority to replicate themselves by executing impactful and life-changing projects.

“We must realise that the only way to live forever in the hearts of the people is to always put them first and serve well,” Oyetola added.

While applauding the Chairman for the laudable project and for naming the legacy project after Chief Akande, Oyetola said, “this is the legacy our fathers like Chief Akande have demonstrated with their enviable political careers. And I must say, it is the secret of a life of timeless relevance.

“I must equally note that with this honour, you have scored two significant points, or as it is often said, killed two birds with a stone. That is, providing a facility of felt need and honouring a deserving leader.

“In a nation where poor models of leadership on several fronts abound, it is apposite to identify those who hold counter-narratives and project them for honour.

“When this is done, we will entrench the values of integrity, hard-work, selflessness, and service. This is the pathway to rapidly multiply the Akande tribe in our midst and build a society filled with inspirational minds for our young people,” Oyetola added.

Earlier, Chief Adebisi Akande, a former Osun Governor, applauded the sense of humility and sense of integrity of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola which he said had culminated into milestone achievements recorded by his administration.

He expressed gratitude to the Council Chairman for the honour done him, describing the gesture as a welcome development.

KAI officer brutalizes journalist as Lagos Govt vows to investigate allegation

The Lagos State Government has condemned the alleged brutalisation of a journalist, Benjamin Anaja, with Guild Press Limited by some operatives of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) at Meiran Bus Stop, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

A statement signed by the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello, said the present administration has a zero-tolerance for any form of brutalisation of members of the public by any employee, operative or agent of the State government.

He stated that the incident will be thoroughly investigated and punitive measures will be taken against any of the KAI operatives mentioned in the viral news report if found culpable, reiterating that the complainant would be invited to substantiate his claim and possibly identify the culprits who attacked him, despite identifying himself as a journalist.

The Commissioner, however, apologised to the victim, the management of the Guild publishing company and the Nigerian Union of Journalists, promising that the State government is determined to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

Bello said the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu believes in a free and unfettered media, which is a basic requirement for a better and egalitarian society.

Recall that a news story had gone viral on Wednesday evening alleging that some operatives of KAI dislodged street traders at Meiran Bus Stop on Lagos Abeokuta Expressway and accosted a journalist who was recording the event.

According to the post, the journalist claimed to have produced his identity card but was, nevertheless, dragged into their vehicle, brutalised, detained for several hours and had his identity card seized before he was eventually released at Ikeja along Bus Stop.

Ooni has forgiven Sunday Igboho, will never issue official statement – Media Aide

The palace of the Ooni of Ife has denied issuing an official statement on the viral video in which Sunday was seen lambasting the Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II over what he alleged as acts of betrayer against his struggle to liberate Yoruba race from the terrorist herdsmen.

Answering questions from newsmen at his office in at his office in Ile-Ife on Thursday, the Ooni’s Director of Media & Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare said it is not in the style of the Ooni to make official response on any matter that threatens the unity and peace of the country, especially as it affects the descendants of Oduduwa worldwide.

Olafare said Ooni Ogunwusi was unperturbed by the abuses of words rained on him by the Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as ‘Igboho Oosa’ who had two days ago spoken derogatorily about the Yoruba’s greatest monarch. He told the newsmen that he has been forgiven.

“Sunday Igboho still remains a son to the Ooni. Baba has already forgiven him because he had tendered an apology via a video clip he produced via social media yesterday evening.

The royal father according to Olafare could not bicker with any of his sons even in the face of quantum of provocations.

Comrade Olafare revealed that though, tendering of the unreserved apology to the Ooni by Igboho was the handiwork of Olugbon of Ile-Igbon and Vice Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Olusola Alao who called the activist to advise and warned him of the consequences that might follow his misconducts towards the Spiritual Head of Oduduwa Race whose sons and daughters are the Yorubas he claimed to be fighting for.

“Before tendering the apology, it was the Baba Olugbon of Ile-igbon that first called and informed Arole Oodua on phone that he had scolded Sunday on phone on his misdeeds and that, and that he would soon tender a public apology to him on the matter via a video release. Sunday Igboho thereafter released the video in which he tendered his apology”

“Even though the way and manner Sunday had behaved was sacrilegious to the Oduduwa throne but he has already apologized and I can confirm that Arole Oodua has forgiven him, because, there is no perfection in humanity. Sunday is a human being like any other normal human being who could misbehave as well. No one is perfect!.

“As the father of all, the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II remains his father who had even identified with him in the past two weeks he had begun with the struggle and he is still solidly behind him for the liberation of the Yorubas from criminal herdsmen who have adamantly terrorized our land. Just that he must watch his back so that people with ulterior motives wil not high jack his movement”.

When asked if the Ooni has ever made an official statement on the issue, Olafare swiftly replied that it not in the habit of the palace to make official statements on any matter that threatens the unity and peace of the country, especially as it affects the descendants of Oduduwa.

“No no no, palace has never officially responded and will never respond over the video. As a matter fact, it is not even our style to do so, and we have a ‘Talkless & Listen more” history on issues like this because we focus more on what unites us together than what divides us as a people of one source”.

“Like I said, he has apologized through Kabiyesi Olugbon who called Baba on his behalf and Arole Oodua has forgiven him. Let’s just let the matter rest”. Olafare said.

The traditional ruler however appealed to all and sundry to let the sleeping dog lies on the matter because Sunday had been forgiven and life must go on.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Mr. Olugbenga Oyerinde, has again decried the incessant attacks on its personnel by commercial bus drivers, hoodlums and miscreants within the Lagos Island Business District.

Oyerinde, while reacting to the recent attack on a CBD enforcement officer on lawful duties within the district, warned those responsible to desist as the present administration is determined to deal ruthlessly with anyone involved in the despicable act.

In his words: “The Agency will not succumb to any act of intimidation and hostility while carrying out its duties within the business districts. The barbaric attack on enforcement officers by commercial vehicle operators and area boys is totally uncalled for and it is condemnable in every aspect”.

“Hoodlums and miscreants encouraging commercial drivers to flout government directives against one-way drive will not be condoned. We are strengthening our enforcement unit to ensure that traffic regulations are obeyed by motorists. Ife Diaspora calls security agency to caution Sunday Igboho over unguarded utterances against Ooni

The committee of Ife Diaspora and Egbe Agba Yoruba in Diaspora has reacted to the allegations raised by an Ibadan-based business man turned freedom fighter to stop inciting public to the stool of Ooni of Ife over comment of inciting public against the First Class monarch.

At an emergency sitting today the people said Sunday Igboho wants to turn Yoruba leaders against each other in his viral video that Alaafin accused Ooni being against the move by Igboho.

However, according to Eluyemi Elumide who is the PRO of the group said Ooni was bold enough to speak with state House correspondence that Sunday Igboho has taken a bold step in tackling the security issue in Igangan but cautioned not to be used against the people and the head of the state which is the governor to mediate and maintain peace since the governor is the chief security officer of the state and he is solely responsible constitutionally in that regard.

Saying, who is Igboho to now waylay Ooni and attack him? This is an insult of the highest order and Yoruba leaders must rise against this or else Sunday is solely responsible to destabilise Yoruba land and fulfill his political paymaster wish.

“Alaafin eulogises President Buhari in his letter and he never wrote a line to speak ill if Ooni, meaning that Igboho is mischevious” Eluyemi said

The president of the organisation , Awowole Omotosho however said Sunday Igboho should follow the advice of the revered Pastor Tunde Bakare and others never to take laws into his hands.

He however call on security agency to caution him on his unguarded utterances, saying he is a political thug and he should kindly follow the true tenets of Omoluabi.

JUST IN: Man sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for defiling 13-year-old girl in Lagos

The Lagos State Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja, has sentenced one Nura Asumoge to 25 years imprisonment for the defilement of a 13-year old minor, after he had pleaded guilty to the one-count charge during his arraignment by the Lagos State Government.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Mrs. Arinola Momoh-Ayonkanmbi, of the State Ministry Justice, stated that Nura Asumoge confessed to having sent the unsuspecting underaged victim on an errand on 3rd April 2018, and on her return the defendant forcefully had sexual intercourse with the victim, threatening her to refrain from informing anyone afterwards.

Momoh-Ayokanmbi, therefore, urged the court to sentence the defendant accordingly having pleaded guilty to the charge, stressing that evidence presented before the Court by the prosecution also supported the allegation levelled against the defendant.

While acknowledging the guilty plea of the accused, Justice Soladoye, in her sentencing, stated that the evidence provided by the prosecutors was credible and compelling enough for the conviction of the defendant.

The Judge, therefore, found the defendant guilty of the charge, punishable under section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State (2015) and sentenced him accordingly.

She also ordered that the convict’s name, Nura Asumoge, should be entered into the Sexual Offenders Register in Lagos State.

Recall that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the advocacy WALK against domestic violence organised by DSVRT, had emphasised the commitment of the State Government to ensuring the safety and well-being of the girl-child and women in Lagos State.

Viral Video: Sunday Igboho blasts Ooni of Ife, calls him ‘mad king’

The self-acclaimed human rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho has described Ooni of Ife, Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as Fulani slaves

Igboho in a video circulated online also flayed some Yoruba leaders, including traditional rulers, alleging that have not shown enough support for the struggle to liberate the Yoruba from their ”Fulani oppressors”

He speaks further…..

“I need buses to transport people. The three vans we use are bought by me. That Ooni of Ife is mad. We lost three buses that were hired on our way to Oyo. Ooni should be able to tell Buhari about what Yoruba want. But he has collected dollars from Buhari. He called me but I don’t want to see him. Ooni disappointed me. Politicians are with him….

“The Oluwo will wear turban and start calling himself an Emir, our people should call him and tell him to stop what he is doing. Our leaders are lazy and slaves to Fulanis. They visit Abuja to collect money, we will attack them and destroy their property. Ooni should be dealt with. I am annoyed. Why should we be afraid of the crown they (Yoruba monarchs)wear?

“Tinubu and other Yoruba politicians are Fulani slaves. We need not be afraid. I have not collected any money from anyone. I am a full Yoruba man and I will not allow Fulani people to enslave me, we do not look or behave alike in any way. The herders should go…. “
