“Mr. Macaroni Was Completely Wrong”- Adamu Garba Faults Comedian For Not Honouring Osinbajo’s Invite

Former presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has faulted the declination of an invitation of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by popular skit maker, Debo Adedayo, professionally known as Mr Macaroni.

Mr Macaroni had on Friday, in a very lengthy series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle, gave reason(s) for his refusal to meet with the number two citizen of the country after fellow skit makers met with the latter at Aso Villa Abuja under the aegis of the Nigeria Skits Industry Awards.

The meeting of the comedy skit makers with the Vice President was headed by its promoter Bimbo Daramola. Other delegates, who met with the Vice President, on Wednesday, include Adeoye Adeyemi Olosho aka Yemi Elesho, Josh Alfred aka Josh2funny, Maryam Akpaokagi aka Taaooma, Adebamiro Adeyanju aka Mr Hyenana and Ayo Ajewole aka Woli Agba.

Although the skit makers had said their intentions was to promote the skit comedy with a voice like that of the Vice President, they said they used the opportunity to speak out their minds on behalf of Nigerian youths regarding the leadership in the country, and more especially on the last year’s #ENDSARS protest which was rudely brought to a halt when armed Nigerian security operatives allegedly opened live round bullets at peaceful protesters at Lekki Toll Plaza in Lagos on the evening of October 20.

Some fans and followers of the skit makers who had attended the meeting with the Vice President, however, condemned the comedians. Others also questioned the absence of Mr Macaroni and Falz. And this has continued to divide fans of these comedians and some even hauled insulting words on those comedians who graced the meeting while others praised comedians who distanced themselves from the said meeting.

Giving reason for his absence, Mr Macaroni said that he was absent because he was not happy with leaders in the country, consequently, his rejection of the invitation sent to him to meet with the Vice President.

But in a new twist to this controversy, Adamu Garba, who is a former presidential aspirant, faulted the decision of Mr Macaroni for refusing to honour the Vice President’s invitation as he argued that it would have been the best avenue for him to register his displeasure with Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Adamu Garba was of the opinion that the comedian should have embraced the hand of olive oil extended to him first before any other thing, and accepting the invitation would have given a chance to bear his mind on contentious issues with the Vice President.

“Mr. Macaroni was completely wrong. Sitting with the VP would have given him an opportunity for formal presentation of the issues of the moment. What would you have done without the power of green pen? You should sit and talk first, always,” the founder and CEO of the defunct Crowwe app, Adamu Garba had exhumed.

Ikoyi: I’m Not The Owner Of Collapsed 21-Storey Building – Osinbajo

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has refuted claims that he owns the land upon which the collapsed building in Ikoyi stood.

Osinbajo, who condoled with the families and relatives of all those who have died and those who were injured or affected in the collapsed building under construction on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, described the incident as a horrible tragedy.

Reacting to allegations that the said land was sold to him by Chief Michael Ade Ojo, Chairman of Elizade Motors; and reports that he some time ago intervened with the regulatory authorities in Lagos State to unseal the said property, Osinbajo maintained that he has never been involved in the development of any land since he became Vice President.

A statement issued by Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity said, ”At no time whatsoever did the VP buy this or any other piece of land from Chief Michael Ade Ojo, or entered into any transaction for the sale of that land or any other piece of land from Chief Ade. Ojo or anyone for that matter.

”All property and assets owned by the Vice President have been publicly declared.

”Also, the Vice President has never spoken to the Governor of Lagos State or any other official of the State Government regarding the unsealing of the said building on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, which subsequently collapsed. He has, indeed, never acted to influence any other regulatory action on the collapsed building, or any other building for that matter, in Lagos State.”

Osinbajo further explained that he has no interest and has never had any interest, in the land, the building or development.

”The wickedness and viciousness of a lie that seeks to utilise a tragedy where so many people have lost their lives, even as rescue efforts are ongoing, and in wanton disregard to the feelings and untold grief of their loved ones for political gain, reveals a dangerous desperation, as well as the heartlessness of the perpetrators of such despicable lies.” the statement reads in part.’

The Vice President added that he has referred the ‘disgraceful’ publication to his lawyers for prompt legal action.
