Ige’s Murder: ‘I will not hesitate to meet Omisore in Court’, Says Wole Soyinka

Noble Laureate, Wole Soyinka Has Said That He Never Told Nigerians To Vote For President Muhammadu Buhari In 2015. Speaking At A Media Briefing In Lagos On Thursday April 7, He Disclosed That He Only Told People Not To Vote For Jonathan Because He Had Lost Confidence And Trust In The People.

He Said; “Jonathan Had A Chance To Win That Election And I Told Him This. He Blew It. He Really Blew It On Many Levels. Before The Election, I Told Him Frankly. I Told Him Why I Was Not Going To Vote For Him Or Support Him Because He Lost The Confidence And Trust Of The People — A Couple Of Actions And Inactions, Including His Failure To Tackle Corruption. Despite That, It Is False To Say That I Supported The Election Of Buhari.

The Prof. However Used the medium to challenge APC National Secretary to institute legal action against him on the statement credited to him on his alleged involvement in the murder of former Attorney General of the Federation, Bola Ige SAN.

“If I Believed That Is What I Should Do, I Would Not Hesitate One Moment To Come Out And Say This Is The Candidate. I Challenge Anyone To Say Where Did I Say Vote For Buhari — When, What Occasion And In What Language? What I Said Very Distinctly Is ‘Do Not Vote For Jonathan’. I Don’t Regret That Because The Level Of Corruption At That Stage Was Such At Number One.

“It Is A Shame That One Has To Recall Negativities. At No Time Did I Ever Say ‘Vote For Buhari’. You Can’t Find It Anywhere. I Did Not Vote For Buhari. If You Do Not Believe Me, Go And Ask The Security Man In Abeokuta Who Used To Accompany Me If I Left My House That Day.”

2023: ‘Presidency Is Not Ponmo And Amala’, Dino Melaye Chides Fayose

IThe former Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye has attributed the recent declaration of ex-Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose as a joke taken too far.

This was contained in a statement released and shared today on his Twitter account as read in part:

“Inebriated by several wraps of Amala in Abuja, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, in his characteristic exuberance directed indecent and indecorous attacks at two serious contenders for the Presidential ticket of the People’s Democratic Party, HE Atiku Abubakar and HE Bukola Saraki.

“Incidentally, the mauling of Amala gained more publicity over the collection of the Presidential nomination form, in a pretentious exhibition of dining with the masses. This frugal populism has since been deflated by allegations of charges for the ferreting of billions of naira from public coffers in Ekiti State. Is Amala and Abula so expensive?

“The issue before Nigerians now is not who can eat more , but who can produce food. That is why the attempt to tar the outstanding achievements of Atiku Abubakar as former Vice President and Bukola Saraki as former Senate President by Fayose would be discounted as the belching perfidy of a Presidential gambler.

“It is clear from the verbal missiles deployed by Fayose that he was simply de-marketing frontline aspirants in PDP as a
counterintuitive strategy to shore up the chances of his political godfather in APC.

“It is amazing that Fayose who could not manage and retain a PDP state now aspires to lead a behemoth structure like Nigeria. Today, Ekiti is stripped of all vestiges of PDP; no PDP Senator, no PDP House of Representatives Member, no House of Assembly member, no Local Government Chairman, and not even a Councillor. He left Ekiti State worse than he met it. How could he fail in the state and expect promotion to the National?

“The contest for the ticket of PDP and the Presidency of Nigeria is a serious engagement. Those who aspire to the position must elevate themselves above pedestrian conduct and address real issues, rather than dwelling on inconsequential inanities.

“The National Leadership of our great Party should call Fayose to order, by curtailing his unproductive verbiage against serious contenders. Having failed to upgrade from local political space to the National stage Fayose may indeed be assisted to undertake a week-long orientation session on the ethics and codes of peer relations on a Presidential canvass.

“Nigeria is in dire straits at the moment. It is beyond the call of jesters in the corridors of elevated governance”.

2023: ‘Zoning Is A Scam, Corruption Is Never Zoned’, says Sahara Reporters Publisher, Sowore

Presidential aspirant of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has admonished Nigerians to ignore the ruling parties on the idea of zoning to region, ethnic, or religious directions.

The activist noted in an interview with Kaftan TV monitored by ODUDUWA NEWS that zoning is dubious and a scam, as “corruption is never zoned.” Sowore believes that the only people deprived of power so far are “the oppressed.” He noted that Nigerians have never benefited from the zoning arrangements of both the PDP and APC other than anguish, pains, and mass poverty.

When asked about zoning to any of the regions in the country by Anabel Orji; Sowore said “it’s one of the most pathetic things we have to deal with. I think it happens in every election, they just bring in one bossy word that distracts everybody’s attentions from what is needed the most to determine a good leader which is character and several other great thing.

“Power has been zoned before to the North, what did Northerners get from it except insecurity? Buhari has been in power for seven years and the North where he comes from is swamped in insecurity. Obasanjo when he was in power couldn’t construct a good road from Lagos to Abeokuta where he lives. Jonathan who everybody says is the candidate of the third largest ethnic group in Nigeria became president and what did you get, they are still stealing crude today. What if the real competent people are not allowed to run in those places you zone to. When it comes to corruption, they don’t say; look it’s the turn of the South East to just take all the Nigeria money for the next four years! What I will say conclusively is that, if we want to zone next time, let’s zone power to the oppressed- the class that is always at the receiving end of these bad governance”.

Omoyele Sowore is the founder of Sahara Reporters; the newspaper with the largest followership in Nigeria, which he set up in 2002. He participated in pro-masses struggles from when he was 19 in 1989 at the popular Anti-SAP national protests led by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS); to the June 12 Six-Year Revolt which led to the defeat of the military regimes and restore democracy in 1999.

Ondo Muslim Community Vows To Seek Legal Action Over Return Of Schools To Missionaries

The Muslim community in Ondo State has faulted the decision of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to return some public schools to Faith Based Organizations (FBOs)

At a news briefing in Akure, the state capital, the Chairman, League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Ahmad Aladesawe said such decision is barbaric, unprogressive and pose a serious danger to the growth of education in the State.

Represented by the Secretary of the League and Chief Imam of Supare Akoko, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Akerele, Sheik Aladesawe alleged that the development was tantamount to giving out public properties to empower some individuals in the FBOs.

The cleric also alleged that such action would deny Muslim children access to such schools.

Sheik Aladesawe then disclosed that the Muslim Community would seek legal action if the state government fails to rescind its decision.

Akeredolu Hale And Hearty, Not Flown To Germany – Media Aide Debunks Sahara Reporters’ Report

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has reacted to the news item published on Sahara reporters which alleged that he is being hospitalized in Germany, saying the published story is wicked and misleading.

This was contained in a statement released and made available to ODUDUWA NEWS today by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Olabode Richard Olatund which reads in part:

“Although, giving SaharaReporters’ antecedent and stock in trade, we are not amazed at this fabricated and outright falsehood which is being spread by cronies of some disgruntled politicians in their renewed efforts at plastering battered political misadventures.

“For the records, Governor Akeredolu, alongside other colleagues, left Nigeria for Dubai to attend the largest Annual Investment Meeting in the United Emirates between March 28 and March 31st, 2022.

“Meanwhile, Governor Akeredolu had earlier, precisely on 23rd April, 2022, sent a letter to the State House of Assembly informing the Legislative Arm that he would be away for 14 working days as the first part of his 2022 Annual Leave. He also transferred power to the deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa to perform the functions of his office while he is away.

“It is, therefore, glaringly insidious for anyone to claim that a man who was with his brother Governors in Dubai till March 31st, which is exactly one week today, is being hospitalized in Germany. What exposes this shameful falsehood is the fact that SaharaReporters claimed the Governor was flown out of the country to Germany when in fact, he left for Dubai.

“Ordinarily, we would not have responded to this blatant lies, but for the unsuspecting members of the public who might be hoodwinked by these lies.

“In clear terms, Governor Akeredolu is not hospitalized anywhere. These are mere wishes of failed politicians who now carry the burden of uncanny distrust and embedded treachery. We won’t even wish them their evil imaginations. Once, they have tried; and they failed woefully. No amount of borrowed falsehood to cover up their moral deficiencies will bring back their lost political glory.

“We will also advise SaharaReporters to strive at uprightness, however difficult it seems for an entrenched, unprofessionally-warped ilk in its mode.

“Journalism is about sacred truth. A Journalist cross -checks facts and presents only the truth and not fabricated stories as mindlessly portrayed by SaharaReporters in its unrepentant trajectory on the path of infamy”.

Sanwo-Olu Appoints MC Oluomo As Chairman Of Lagos Parks Management Committee

Lagos State Government Thursday named Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as the chairman of the newly constituted Parks Management Committee weeks after state officials debunked news of the appointment.

Hakeem Odumosu, a former police commissioner in Lagos who retired recently as an assistant inspector general of police, will be the government liaison officer on the committee.

Lagos State commissioner for information Gbenga Omotoso said the committee will oversee the affairs of all motor parks and garages in the state and will report to the Ministry of Transport.

The Government on March 10 suspended NURTW operations in all parks and garages after MC Oluomo announced that the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers had pulled of the national union hours after he was suspended by the union’s leadership over alleged insubordination.

MC Oluomo’s appointment came less than 24 hours after NURTW leadership sacked him from the union. News of his appointment made the rounds last month.

Omotoso and the chief press secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, described the news as false.

“This is in fulfillment of the Government’s promise to ensure that events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are not allowed to threaten law and order,” Omotoso said in a statement.

“The Government has, therefore, exercised its constitutional powers to ensure that no vacuum, which can disrupt the peace of our dear State, is allowed to exist in the parks.”

Sulyman B. Ojora is the deputy Chairman, while Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Salaam is the secretary.

Other members of the committee included Comrade Olayiwola Lemboye, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, Alhaji Ganiyu Shittu, Alhaji Mukaila Runsewe, Alhaji Sulyman Yusuf, Alhaji Mufutau Mutiu and Alhaji Yinka Hassan.

Other are Alhaji Sunday Ogunleye, Alhaji Moshood Omojowa, Alhaji Ismaila Aigoro, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf.
