ODUDUWA NEWS has just gathered that a two-storey building has collapsed in the Ago Palace Way area of Lagos State, barely a week after the collapse of a building in the Ebute Metta area.
According to reports, the two-storey building located at Chris Igadi Street, off Ago Palace Way, opposite Kilimanjaro/ AP filling station, collapsed in the wee hours of Saturday.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said rescuers responded to the incident at about 3am on Saturday.
“On arrival, information gathered from the residents revealed that the building gave signs several hours before the building collapsed.
“Fortunately, nobody was trapped as all the occupants evacuated the area when the signs began two hours before the collapse.
“A head count of occupants was carried out to ensure no occupant is missing and the remains of the building were cordoned off,” he said.
He added that the operation was concluded at about 5:23am, adding that the site would be handed over to LABSCA and Ministry of Physical Planning for further investigation.
Oke Ogun-born Professor who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC), Barrister Adeolu Akande has picked the N50Million Nomination form for the All Progressives Congress(APC) Governorship Election primaries.
Professor Adeolu has thrown his hat into the ring among the contestants jostling for the governorship seat in Oyo State.
He is the first and only aspirant from outside Ibadan who has collected the form. He is also the only Christian.

Prof Akande, a Professor of Comparative Politics is also a lawyer. He worked as Editor in Chief of Omega Weekly (1997), Acting Editor of Sunday Tribune(1996), Regional Editor (South West) of Punch Newspapers (1993) and lectured at the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan (1997). He presently teaches at the Igbinedion University, Okada, where he is also the Director, Centre for Presidential Studies.
He served as Deputy Chief Press Secretary and Special Assistant (Research and Communication Strategies) to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (2001 and 2003 respectively).
He was Chairman of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)(2018) and has been Chairman of the NCC since 2020. Prof Akande has served in different capacities in every presidential election in Nigeria since the return to democratic rule in 1999.
The Composer of the popular NYSC Anthem, “Youths Obey the Clarion Call”, Oluwole Adetiran, has passed away at 74.
Late Rev. Oluwole Oladejo Adetiran, an indigene of Igbajo in Osun State composed the popular NYSC Anthem in 1984 while serving as a Corp member at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
He got employed as one of the founding music lecturers at the Polytechnic, and was the Head of the Department of Music Technology for 11 years in the institution, where he trained many music students.
He was also a member of the Celestial Church of Christ where he was the National Music Director for the CCC Worldwide.
The iconic musicologist passed away on Friday, 6th of May 2022, after years of battling with prostate cancer.
The Governor of Info State, Rotimi Akeredolu SAN has called for the resignation of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele as he cannot be contesting Nigeria’s president while serving as public officer.
This was contained in a statement personally signed by the Governor Akeredolu and made available to newsmen as r ad in part:
“The news of the purchase of Declaration of Intent and Nomination Forms to contest for the office of the President in the forthcoming general elections, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, purportedly by the supporters of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been received with palpable disbelief and shock by many Nigerians. This act, if unchecked, timeously, portends great danger to the fragile economy of the country.
“Rumours had been rife on the subterranean partisan activities linked to him through these shadowy characters in the recent weeks. Pictures of branded vehicles, ostensibly purchased for electioneering campaigns, were also posted on the social media. The audacious moves by those who claimed to be supporting this interest have been unsettling.
“This latest news confirms that the Governor may indeed be interested in immersing himself in the murky waters of politics like any other Nigerian with partisan interests. It is incontrovertible that Mr Emefiele enjoys a constitutionally protected right to belong to any group or association and participate fully, just as any Nigerian. It is, however, difficult to imagine that a person who occupies the exalted and sensitive office of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria will be this brazen in actualizing his ambition.

“There is no gain asserting the obvious. The combined effect of the Public Service Rules, CBN Act and the 1999 Constitution, as amended, exposes not only the oddity inherent in this brash exercise of presumed right to associate. It also confirms the illegality of the act should he proceed to submit the forms while occupying the seat as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“Consequently, we admonish Mr Emefiele to leave the office, immediately, for him to pursue his interest. He cannot combine partisan politics with the very delicate assignment of his office. Should he refuse to quit, it becomes incumbent on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to remove him forthwith
All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and presidential aspirants from the South West emerged from a meeting in Lagos last night with a resolution to ensure that the geo-political zone produces Nigeria’s next president in 2023.
They also affirmed the right of every one of the contenders to pursue his ambition, but advised the gladiators to eschew acrimony and abuse in the build-up to this month’s primaries.
Many of the aspirants purchased the forms through proxies.

By the close of work at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, the number of APC’s presidential aspirants had risen to 22 after Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Godwin Emefiele, former House of Representatives Speaker Dimeji Lawal, immediate past Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Ogbonnaya Onu, former Zamfara State Governor Sani Yerima and Senator Ajayi Boroffice bought their own expression of interest and nomination forms.
It was gathered yesterday that more aspirants might join the queue in due course.
Yesterday’s meeting of APC South West leaders was convened by former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande and his Ogun counterpart Aremo Olusegun Osoba to douse the anxiety generated by the growing number of aspirants from the same political family and background.
In attendance were APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senator Ibikunle Amosu, and Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, all of whom have purchased their expression of interest and nomination forms for the presidential primaries.
The meeting, which took place at the Lagos State House, Marina, also attracted House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, APC National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore, Southwest APC leader Isaacs Kekemeke, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ondo, Ogun and Osun counterparts Rotimi Akeredolu, Dapo Abiodun, and Gboyega Oyetola.
Others were Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola, his Trade and Investment counterparts Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Works and Housing Minister Babatunde Fashola, former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel and former Oyo State deputy governors Iyiola Oladokun and Alake Adeyemo.
A source close to the conveners said the meeting was successful
He said: “They (aspirants) freely expressed themselves. They spoke their minds. It was agreed that they were free to pursue their ambitions. But the leaders emphasised the commitment to the emergence of the next APC presidential candidate from the Southwest.”
The source added: “The aspirants were admonished to pursue their legitimate interests without abusing one another. They called for decorum.
“It was also agreed that the aspirants should meet regularly to review events and situations. Contrary to feelings in some places, the meeting was not convened to make aspirants withdraw from the race.”
Barely two weeks after demise of Alaafin of Oyo, another prominent traditional ruler in Oyo state, Oba Dr Elijah Olaniyi Popoola, Oniijeru of Ijeru Kingdom in Ogbomoso South Local government is dead.
Oba Elijah, aged 85, died peacefully in his sleep on friday morning during a brief illness.
He became king in 2008.
Confirming his the development, one of his son, Moshood, told our reporter that “though he has been ill for a while, he woke up this morning and we spoke. Few minutes after i left his palace for my house, i was called that Baba has joined the his ancestors.”

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed that it was Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that paid for his expression of interest form and nomination form to run for the second term in office as Governor.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Gboyega Akosile, the Governor said: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu paid for my second term nomination and expression of interest forms to run for second term.”
There are media reports suggesting that Tinubu, who is a former Governor of Lagos State and the national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), may have dropped Sanwo-Olu and anointed another candidate to replace the Governor in 2023.
Hon Ayoade Olugbenga Iloko, Former Member House of Representatives between 2015-2019 from Ibarapa Central and North Constituency, has obtained the expression of interest/nomination forms in readiness and preparation for 2023 general election. Iloko picked his forms at the party National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking briefly with journalists on Friday morning, he appreciated community leaders, party leaders and members of All Progressive Congress (APC), teaming supporters, for their, passion, commitment, supports and Undiluted love for the betterment and progress of Ibarapa land, he further assured the good people of Ibarapa land of his readiness to use his experience to bring more Dividends of democracy to Ibarapa North and Central if elected.
The statement reads thus:
“I give thanks to the Almighty God that has made it possible. For the sustainability of the political arrangement to ensure equality, social justice and fairness in our zone. Yes, l’ve gotten the nomination and Expression of interest form to represent my people at the lower chamber of national assembly.”

“The African Action Congress wishes to notify the general public that Mr Omoyele Sowore was expelled on August 9, 2019, at the party’s National Convention held in Owerri, Imo State. He was first suspended from the party in May 2019 and his suspension was upheld by a Court of Competent Jurisdiction in Nigeria.

Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Nigeria, Tunde Bakare, on Thursday, purchased N100m nomination and expression of interests forms of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to contest the 2023 presidential primary in Abuja.
