Oguntona Seun Olunloyo, the political leader of the Atiba Local Government Area’s Soro Local Council Development Area, LCDA, has been suspended by councilors.
Olunloyo is allegedly involved in anti-party actions in addition to being inefficient and careless, according to Fadiran Sunday, leader of the house, who made this public.
Olunloyo is the most recent political head to be suspended after the expiration of the vacation embarked on by Gov. Seyi Makinde.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Tosin Kolade, who raped and murdered a 17-year-old girl, Ifeoluwa Apanpa, inside a church at Olodo area of Ibadan, the state capital.
It is reported that the deceased was said to be on her way to church for service when the suspect under a false pretence sought her assistance in his own church that was close by.
The suspect who was paraded before the newsmen at the State Police Headquarter, Eleyele, Ibadan on Tuesday, September 20, said his mother is a member of the sanitation department in the Church, hence his access to the key of the church.
“On 17th September, 2022, I went back home from work around 1pm because we didn’t have work that day. We were just sleeping at the shop. I told my boss that I wanted to go and ease myself, and he said I shouldn’t stay long. When I got home, i took the key of our church because my mum is the cleaner of the church and went to church. I packed all the chairs in the church together; I already knew the time Ifeoluwa will pass through our church to her own church. She eventually came and I asked her to assist me to carry some of the chairs I packed.
“I brought out the knife in my pocket and told her not to shout. I wanted to scare her to collect her phone but she dragged the knife with me and the knife fell to the floor. She also fell down and hit her head on the floor while trying to escape. She couldn’t stand up because she was weak. I raped her and took her phone. I requested for her password but she gave me the wrong password. When I discovered, I strangulated her,” the suspect explained.
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Kola Abiola, unequivocally said yesterday that he would win the 2023 presidential election.
Kola Abiola disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the funeral service of the late PRP governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prof. David Bamgbose, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
He said: “I am going to win, Insha Allah. I have no doubt. You see we are always used to having things done in a particular way. We don’t do things in a particular way here. We are out to disrupt the process.
“If we run it the way it is run, we will never win, but if we run it my way, there is no doubt. And that’s what happened in 1992 to 1993. I ran that election from top to bottom. I did the planning, I did the execution, I did everything. All those jingles, if you remember, I did it.
“I ran that election without the typical way of running an election and we won. It is still the best and freest election today in Nigeria. We are going to do a repeat, but this time, it’s for myself.”
The Management of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti has directed that full academic activities should resume on campus with effect from tomorrow, Thursday, 22nd September, 2022.
Accordingly, round off lectures for second semester of 2020/2021 academic session have been scheduled to hold between Thursday, 22nd September and Friday, 21st October, 2022, while the second semester examination for the 2020/2021 academic
session would hold between Monday, 24th October and Saturday, 5th November, 2022.
Meanwhile, lectures for 100 level students admitted for 2021/2022 academic session will commence on Monday, 3rd October, 2022.
This according to a statement made available to newsmen by Bode Olofinmuagun,
Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs as read in part:
“Students should note that ONLY DULY REGISTERED STUDENTS of the university will have access to all the academic activities.
“The Management of the university hereby appeals to all the academic and non-teaching staff of the institution to give their maximum support so that both the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions would be completed without further delay with a view to ensuring the survival of our common heritage (Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti).
The Management wishes all our students safe trip back to Ado-Ekiti”.
The president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, has warned that the judgement of the National Industrial Court ordering lecturers back to class will have far-reaching effects.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, the don said the outcome of the verdict would be catastrophic.
He said, “Let me tell you the catastrophe of what has just happened. The last time this happened was during the military era. I can assure you, when this strike is over, a large number of our lecturers are going to migrate from this country. When you are using force to push your lecturers to class.
“First of, they said, ‘If we owe them, if we don’t pay them, they will come and beg us.’ Seven months, it didn’t work. Our members are still alive. And then, they went to court, you want to force them. It is a catastrophe. No country who is thinking about the future of their children, thinking about the health of the educational system, who believes in education, (leader) who believes in the future of this country, whose children are in those universities would try that.”
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has declared that the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu won’t resign as being demanded by the Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike and other PDP Governors in his camp.
Atiku, in a reaction to the withdrawal of Wike and his loyalists from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, urged the aggrieved party chieftains to have a rethink and retrace their steps
In a statement on Wednesday, Atiku said: “On the calls for the resignation or removal from office of our national chairman, however, I must reiterate what I have said severally in public and in private; the decision for Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office is personal to Dr. Ayu and, neither I nor anyone else can make that decision for him.
“As to the calls for the removal of Dr. Ayu from office, however, I will state that, as a committed democrat and firm believer in the rule of law and democratic tenets, and our party being one set up, organised and regulated by law and our constitution, it is my absolute belief that every thing that we do in our party must be done in accordance with, and conformity to, the law and our constitution.
“If Dr. Ayu is to be removed from office, it must be done in accordance with the laws that set out the basis for such removal. In any event, you will all recall that the very body that is empowered by law to initiate this removal from office, has already passed a vote of confidence in him”.
The Senate has confirmed Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the substantive Chief Judge of Nigeria.
Motions to confirm the Chief Judge were approved by the legislators when they were put to a voice vote by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The National Industrial Court has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to call off the ongoing Strike.
Justice Polycarp Hamman, in a ruling on Wednesday, said he was invoking Section 18 of Trade Dispute Act, which allows the court to order an end to strike when national interest is at stake.
Justice Hamman held that it was necessary to end the strike because the students have a right to education.

Ibadan, a woman was shot by gunmen on the 21st of September, 2022.
A middle-aged woman was shot by some assailants in the community of Ibadan.
The assailants shot the woman known as Aunty Dupe in the Ologuneru section of Ibadan’s Aafin Iyanu neighborhood.
According to sources, the woman was operating a white Toyota Venza at the time of the incident on Tuesday about 8 o’clock. She was shot twice on the left side of her neck at close range, according to ODUDUWA.
It was discovered that some patrolling police officers arrived at the spot right away.
Later, the woman was transferred to an unnamed hospital for treatment.
Adewale Osifeso, the State Police command’s public relations officer, confirmed the occurrence.
The Police has begun investigation to unravel the mystery behind the incident.
Gov Wike’s strategy team has pulled out of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, while insisting that Iyorcha Ayu must resign to pave way for an acting National Chairman of Southern extraction to lead the PDP to victory in the 2023 general election.
