The Ayedero of Yorubaland and a member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Shina Peller, has congratulated the famous Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, K1 De Ultimate who doubles as the Mayegun General of Yorubaland, on the successful release of his new album titled TIMELESS.

Honourable Peller’s goodwill message was contained in a statement he personally signed and shared on his verified social media handles, where he described the 10-track album as a masterpiece.

Also, the Ayedero of Yorubaland expressed his heartfelt appreciations to the Fuji icon for dedicating a track – “GBOGBO BOTI SE NSE” – to him in the album describing the 7th track as a surprise package from K1 to him adding the Fuji musician didn’t drop any hint about it.

He also appreciated Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde for always standing by him, describing him as his loving father, confidant and a source of inspiration. The Oke Ogun-born federal lawmaker also appreciated K1 for using his “unique and angelic” voice to acknowledge his contributions to societal development.

The statement read in full:

“I congratulate the living legend K1 de Ultimate on the release of his new album titled “Timeless”. The 10-track album is a masterpiece.

“The mayegun of Yorubaland has continued to distinguish himself with his craft, as he brings smiles to our faces always.

A 32-year-old carpenter, Onyekachi Agu, who poured acid on his ex-girlfriend and his rival was on Wednesday sentenced to seven years imprisonment by a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja. Justice Oyindamola Ogala handed down the jail term after finding Agu guilty of a count of causing grievous bodily harm to two persons, Aishat Adefarati and Mansur Ahmed in 2020.

When Agu was arraigned, the state prosecutor, Uju Uwangaze, told the court that he committed the offence on July 3, 2020, at Gangare Hotel, Mile 12, in Lagos. She said Agu traced the victims to the hotel and poured acid on them.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The convict however pleaded not guilty to the charge against him. In her judgment, Justice Ogala found the defendant guilty on the grounds of his confessional statement and sentenced him accordingly.

“The defendant is hereby sentenced to imprisonment of seven years with hard labour and the sentence is to run concurrently,” the judge ruled.

Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, arrested 25 suspected internet fraudsters in Akure, Ondo State.

The suspects were arrested in an early morning operation following actionable intelligence on their alleged criminal activities.
Those arrested are Sunday Samson, Ogunlana Oluwaseyi, Fajemelusi Tosin, Oyenyen Olusegun Blessing, Philip Ayodeji Kolawole, Akinnodi Oyindamola, Faith Ilemobayo, Aro Oluwaferanmi, Lekan Ogundare, Adeshina Olamilekan, Olawafe David, Abegunde Oluwaseun, Akinlade Oluwole Stephen and Adeniyi Temetope.

Others are Christopher David Hassan, Oke Ademola Ayomide, Adekunle Junior Adeleye, Rasaq Saheed, Philip Paul Peter, Gbenga Mathias Friday, Obasanya AbdulGaniya, Ojo Olugbenga Emmanuel, Joseph Oluwapelumi, Olugbenga Ayomide Issac and Abegunde Opeyemi

Items recovered from the suspects are 10 exotics cars – two Lexus EX350, one Lexus IS250, one Lexus RX350, four Toyota Camry, one Honda Accord, one GLK 350 Mercedes Benz, laptops and mobile phones.

The suspects have made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

An Ekiti High Court has sentenced one Ismailia Mohammed Ojo to death by hanging for killing one Kareem Adu over ownership of an Hajue Motorcycle.

Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi found Mohammed guilty of a one-count charge of murder. The offence is contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code Law Cap C16 Law of Ekiti State 2012.

The Prosecution Witness1 (PW1), Inspector Arowosola Tunde, had reported that one Mrs. Agnes Adu rushed to the station with the complaint that her husband had been killed at Odo-Uro by Mohammed over an ownership dispute and physical tussle in respect of an Hajue motorcycle.

She alleged that the defendant had strangled the deceased to death.

The incident was charged to court for prosecution upon the adduced evidence of the possible commission of the crime, given that the defendant came to the state C.I.D. to report himself in respect of the case.

This is in addition to the facts and figures arising from the separate Police’ and C.I.D’s preliminary investigations carried out by Inspectors Arowosola Tunde, Lasisi Bashiru and Adewusi Adefisayo.

According to the judgement, ”the PW2, (i.e. Inspector Lasis Bashiru, A.P. Number 237442 of the state C.I.D., Ado Ekiti, Homicide Section), said: “the Defendant confessed to the crime, that on 13/5/2018, when he was taking his bath inside a bathroom, Kareem Adu, the deceased, came to carry a motorcycle which he parked in front of his house.”

”The Defendant added that, after his bath, he went to the house of the deceased and met him asleep, then jerked him with his cloth on his neck till he fell unconscious.

The Defendant, however, claimed that he neither intended nor caused the deceased’s death as the duo fought without any weapon or hard object.

However, the trial Judge, Justice O.I.O. Ogunyemi, having carefully considered and weighed the evidence before the court by the Prosecution Witnesses and that of the defendant h sentenced the defendant to death by hanging.

The Judge said, “It is my finding that the defendant caused the death of the deceased by holding and pressing his neck and throat.

“On the whole, I find the defendant guilty as charged.

”The defendant is hereby sentenced to be hanged on the neck until you die.”

In a bid to forestall the incidence of flash floods in Ogun State, the Ministry of Environment, has advised residents to desist from acts that can inhibit the free flow of excess precipitation during the rainy periods.

Commissioner in the Ministry, Mr. Ola Oresanya gave the advice while speaking at a press conference at the Olusegun Osoba Press Center, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying those living beside river banks and flood plains should also avoid dumping waste into drains and streams or rivers and prepare to relocate temporarily if need be.

The Commissioner noted that the alert was based on the predictions of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), indicating that Ogun State would have two seasons of rainfalls, with the first season between April and July with rainfall averages of 1658mm, while the second would be between September to November with an average of 1988m.

He said residents in Onikoko, Sokori, Arakangba, Owa, Yemule, Eruwuru, Ebute Kimobi, Isaka Owode, Ogijo, Ilaro and Ijoko should therefore expect flash floods due to heavy rainfall within short periods, while those in Alagbole, Akute, Isheri, Warewa, Oke-Afa, Mowe- Ibafo, Kara, Onihale, Ebute-kimono and Riverside Estate would witness coastal flooding due to the tidal lock of Ogun River by Lagos Lagoon from the natural rise in sea-level coupled with the possible release of water from Oyan Dam.

Oresanya, while recalling the devastating effects of last year’s rain in the State, stated that flash floods were mitigated due to the efforts of the Governor Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun – MFR -led administration, adding that since 2019 the Ministry had commenced regular maintenance of drainages, opening water courses regularly, providing hydraulic structures on all-road constructions sites coupled with improved waste management practices.

He said, ‘’residents should ensure that they desist from building on run-off routes and placement or temporary structures and containers or extension of business premises on top of drains in markets and public places’’.

The Commissioner lauded the effort of the Presidential Committee for the Development of a Compressive Plan of Action for preventing flood disasters while acknowledging the impact of NEWMAP intervention projects in the State, adding that the following flood helplines – 0803640194 09010480056 for flood emergencies, assuring that the numbers would be available any time of the day.

Contributing, the Managing Director, Ogun Osun River Basin Development Authority, Otunba Olufemi Odumosu said his agency is ready to work with the Ministry to make sure the State is better prepared, to reduce the effects of the rain, adding that residents would be duly informed ahead of time the dam was to be released.

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has visited Bodija Plank Market to inspect the level of damage caused by the fire incident that occurred on Tuesday.

The Governor, along with his entourage visted the scene of the incident yesterday to ascertain level of damage.

In his words, he commiserated with traders who lost goods and directed that an immediate palliative of N25 million be given to them.

He also informed them that the Ibadan North Local Government Council would rehabilitate Bodija Market inner roads.
