The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi, has suggested that the president-elect, Bola Tinubu should question the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, when he assumes office.
The lawmaker, who stated this in an interview with Channels Television, alleged that the CBN’s policy to redesign Naira notes was a calculated attempt to frustrate Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
He said the apex bank’s governor should be made to explain the real motives behind the policy that caused controversy in the country earlier in the year. He said, “The calculated attempt then, was to stop APC from winning the election. They said they were redesigning the Naira, so where are the redesigned notes?
“Gradually, they are out of circulation. If the judiciary had kept quiet, Nigeria would have gone into chaos. “If I were Tinubu, when I assume office, I will call in Emefiele and others to come and explain what happened and what was the reason behind the redesigning of Naira notes”.
Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has ordered the dissolution of the management and Board of the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital.
The Chairman, Transition and Inauguration Committee, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday May 26, 2023, said the dissolution is with immediate effect.
While thanking for their selfless service to the State, Ogunwuyi directed them to submit all government properties in their possession to the Transition and Inauguration Committee.
The statement reads, “I have the directive of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to inform you of the dissolution of the Management and Board of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso with effect from today, Friday, 26th May, 2023”.
“The Management and the Board of the Hospital are by this directive required to officially hand over and submit all government properties to the Transition and Inauguration Committee”.
“His Excellency appreciates your tremendous contributions to the development of our dear State and wishes you success in your future endeavours”.
The former Chairman of Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency OYSROMA, Hon. Busoye Ogunlade has expressed his happiness and gratitude on the opportunity given to him by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde to serve as the Chairman of the Agency.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday 29th, 2023, work free for all workers in the country, to commemorate the inauguration of the nation’s 16th democratically elected President.
The declaration was made by the Hon. Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in Abuja on Thursday on behalf of the Federal Government.
The Minister felicitates with all Nigerians on the momentous occasion, commending them for their faith in democracy as expressed in the nationwide election that produced the President and his Deputy being inaugurated and indeed in all elections across the nation.
He enjoins them to continue to support and promote democracy through adherence to the rule of law and uphold all democratic institutions.
”Democracy anywhere is an unfinished business and the only way it can keep developing and serve its end of being the vehicle to good governance and the welfare of all the people is by adhering to its tenets of rule of law, support for democratic institutions, promotion of free and responsible press and advancement of the frontiers of freedom for all the people”, the Minister said.
Ogbeni Aregbesola urges Nigerian also to continue to promote ideals of peaceful coexistence and love for our neighbours, noting that we can only practice democracy and enjoy its dividends in a peaceful environment.
The Minister commends all Nigerians for their strident efforts at achieving an unbroken civilian rule and successful change of governments since 1999.
He urges them to support and cooperate with the coming administration, arguing that the unbounded energy of the people is the nation’s greatest strength and will take the nation to its greatest height when it is positively deployed in its service.

Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the dualization of Akobo-Ojurin- Olorunda Abaa/Odogbo Barracks by N.O Idowu College.

He said that the project which will be executed by Lagelu Local Government at a cost of N9.6 billion, will ameliorate the sufferings of motorists and pedestrians.
Recall that the Governor, about two months ago assured that his administration will award the project for the construction of the 8.3 kilometres road in Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan before the expiration of the first term of his administration.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the award of the contract would be in tandem with Governor Makinde’s commitment to continue working for the people of the state till end of his first term in office.
Governor Makinde’s administration had earlier completed the first phase of the project on the Basorun-Idi Ape-Akobo-Ojurin axis as well as the General Gas Flyover.
Speaking further, Mr. Ajagbe said after completion, the project will provide good and accessible road for the teeming populace.
Ogun State governor Dapo Abiodun, on Friday, dissolved the State Executive Council and expressed appreciation to them for working towards the successful implementation of his administration’s “Building our Future Together Agenda”.
Abiodun who announced the dissolution of the cabinet at the valedictory meeting held at the Exco Chamber Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, declared that the exco members have individually and collectively served their state to the best of their ability.

Speaking on behalf of the cabinet members, the deputy governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, appreciated each member for leaving their high flying jobs to serve the state and the commitment they put into their duties and the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the people.
The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, on his part, said the governor had brought hope to the hopeless, especially in the appointment and promotion of workers. He noted that the governor has been faithful in the payment of pensions, assuring that the state workforce would rally round him in his second term.
Speaking on behalf of women in the cabinet, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Adijat Adeleye, lauded the governor for bringing innovations into governance and appreciated him for giving women the opportunity to serve.
She added that despite distractions, the governor remained focused and deliberate in running the affairs of the etate.
Also, the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said the governor through his business unusual from inception was clear on what he wanted to achieve in the State, saying with the construction of the cargo airport, he has succeeded in writing his name in gold.

Health workers have began an indefinite strike nationwide.
The health workers are under the auspices of the Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, and the Assembly of Health Care Professional Association, AHPA who constitute over ninety percent of staff of the various health facilities.
Their action is coming barely one week after Resident Doctors called off a five day warning strike.
The National Vice Chairman of JOHESU, Dr. Obinna Ogbonna, explained that the action became necessary as the federal government failed to meet its demands.
The unions’ demands are the immediate approval and implementation of the Technical Committee Report on CONHESS adjustment, immediate payment of the omission and shortfall in the COVID-19 hazard/inducement allowances of affected health workers.
Others includes immediate and unconditional implementation of the Pharmacist Consultant cadre; and the implementation of the increase in the retirement age from sixty to sixty-five years and seventy years for consultants in the health professions.
Dr. Obgonna said that the strike affects all Federal health institutions and states that have similar issues.
Operatives of Ogun state Police Command on May 22 arrested a 28 years old man, Adeyemi Babatunde, for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of his 5 years old biological daughter(name withheld).
The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Ijebu Mushin divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim, who reported that she noticed her daughter has been complaining of pain whenever she wants to urinate as well as whenever she is bathing for her and she touch her private part. Having noticed this, she pressurized the little girl to tell her what happened to her private part. It was then the victim informed her that her father laid her on the bed and inserted his manhood into her private part when the mother was not at home.
Upon the report, the DPO Ijebu Mushin division, CSP Simire Hillary, quickly detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was eventually arrested.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime but claimed not to know what comes over him as at that time.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
