New Olubadan Palace commissioning: CCII announces shift in time, now 3pm

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, under the Leadership of Chief Barr Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole has announced a shift in time for the commissioning of the new ultra modern palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland previously scheduled for 10am today.

According to a statement made available to news, the CCII regretted any inconveniences the shift in time might cause people, and requested for peoples understanding.

The statement reads:

“This is to inform all invited guests, groups, clubs, associations as well as the general public that due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce that the commissioning of the new ultra modern Olubadan palace, earlier scheduled for 10 o’clock tomorrow morning, Wednesday, has been shifted to 3 o’clock in the afternoon.“Any inconveniences occasioned by this sudden unforseen change of time are deeply regretted, just as your absolute understanding with the anticipated cooperation is highly appreciated.”

Ajewole added that the new time for the commissioning is now 3pm on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024.The new ultramodern palace is located on the hill of Oke Aremo, Ibadan, and the new Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin is expected to be the first king to occupy the palace.Ọba Olakulehin will be corronated on Friday, July 12th, 2024.

CCII felicitates Olubadan @89, says Ibadan will know his reign for better

CCII discovers talents in football finals, charges govt to do more on grassroots sports development

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes through the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week on Thursday, 4th July 2024 hosted the finals of the S.I Amole female football competition and President-General male football competition at the Ilaji Hotel & Resort Sports complex.

The event was attended by CCII President General, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, Chairman of the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, Mogaji Isiaq Ajibola Salawu-Areokuta, and Chairman of the Karim Adeyemi Foundation, who was represented by Barrister Olamide Idowu.

Others in attendance included the 2023 NNPP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Mr. Joshua Popoola, Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Dotun Sanusi and Alhaji Abiola Alli, immediate past President Omo-Ajorosun Club, Ibadan, among others.

Our correspondent reports that Adem High School scored three goals and won the female category after defeating Elekuro High School, which scored zero goals.

In the male category, Ibadan South East scored one goal to emerge as the winner after beating Ibadan North East, which scored zero goals.

Alhaja Folasade Olayiwola the Chairperson of the Sports Sub-committee while addressing journalists at the event, said that the competition was organized to discover more talents in sports. Olayiwola, who also serves as the Social Secretary of CCII, called on the federal and state governments to allocate more funds to support grassroots sports.

She added that this is necessary to discover more talents in sports.“We want to discover more talents in Ibadanland. We are doing this to encourage our young ones. We need to engage them. We do it every year.“We have been supporting grassroots sports through these competitions. We have secondary school students participating. Even the best are being picked by coaches within and outside the country. Some of these best have gotten the opportunity to travel abroad.“We are appealing to the governments at all levels to support grassroots sports. This will help us discover more talents in sports.

New Olubadan palace to be commissioned on July 10


The ultra modern palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland will be officially commissioned on Wednesday, July 10 2024.


A statement from the office of the Publicity Secretary of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Kola Olomide, the body which spearheaded the completion of the construction of the Olubadan palace at Oke Aremo in Ibadan stated that the palace is ready for the use of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin.


“On behalf of the President General of the CCII, I have the honour and privilege to announce that all is set for the inauguration of the new palace. We thank everyone that has contributed to the success we are witnessing today. Most especially, the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE who is expected to be the Special Guest at honour at the historic event.
All guests are requested to be on seat before 10 am.

CCII to honour PMS Chairman ,Tommy with Distinguished Business Leader Award


The Chairman, Oyo State Park Management System, PMS, Alhaji Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa is to receive the Distinguished Business Leader Award of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII.


This disclosure was made on Monday by the Chairman, 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee, Balogun Gafar Ojetola when he led members of his Committee to the office of the PMS Chairman at Podo area of Ibadan.


According to Balogun Ojetola, ” this award is in recognition of your immense contributions to the peace and progress of Ibadanland. The PMS under your able leadership has done quite well. The people of Ibadan appreciate what you are doing in ensuring discipline among your members “
It is heartwarming to say that since you assumed office as the Chairman of PMS, there has not been any uproar or violence which used to be the norm with transport union workers. This is highly commendable.

2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week: Karim Adeyemi Foundation donates 8 complete set of branded jersey to CCII

Karim Adeyemi, the forward player of Borussia Dortmund who double as the founder of Karim Adeyemi Foundation has donated a complete 8 set of jersey to the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes.

The Jersey donation was to support the CCII efforts in local sports and identifying and developing local talent through the President-General Inter-local government football competition and Chief S.I Amole female football competition which always take place during the annual Ibadan Cultural Festival.

Omo-Ajorosun Club and Gbobaniyi Olubadan Club, Lagos Forge Partnership for Charity Projects

In a significant move to foster collaboration and community development, the Omo-Ajorosun Club of Ibadan hosted the Gbobaniyi Club of Lagos led by thier President Alhaja Rukayat Atoke Ade in a special program held on Friday , 14th June 2024 at the Omo-Ajorosun Club premises. The event marked the beginning of a partnership aimed at executing joint charity and palliative projects in Ibadan, with activities planned at least once every quarter.

Egbe Gbobaniyi Olubadan of Ibadanland, a socio-cultural club comprising Ibadan indigenes residing in Lagos State, joined hands with Omo-Ajorosun Club to address pressing community needs through these initiatives. The collaboration is expected to significantly impact local communities by providing essential support and relief to those in need.

Engr. Sunday Gbenjo, President of Omo-Ajorosun Club, emphasized the importance of the partnership, highlighting the shared values and commitment to social responsibility that both clubs embody. “This collaboration signifies our dedication to giving back to our roots and making a tangible difference in the lives of our people,” he stated.

The Gbobaniyi Club that is recently formed are looking for direction and mentorship from Omoajorosun club that have been existing in Ibadan since 1980 contributing their quota to the social cultural development of Ibadan giving out scholarship to the children of the poor and upholding and promoting the ideals of Ibadan cultures.

2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week: Ibadan All Youths Day, Ayo Olopon, Table Tennis Finals holds on Tuesday

The 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week Central Planning Committee under the leadership of Balogun Gaphar Ojetola has announced that the finals of Ayo olopon and Table Tennis will hold on Tuesday, June 4th at the Bode Amao Hall, Ibadan House by 9am.

Similarly, the Ibadan All Youths Day, which is dedicated towards addressing issues and challenges affecting the youth of Ibadanland will hold that same day and scheduled to commence by 12noon.

This program is a continuation of this year’s staggered activity of the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee as earlier approved by the President General CCII, Chief Barrister Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole and the CCII Executive Council.

The topic for this year’s program is “Drug Addiction of Young Generation in Nigeria; Perspective, Causes and way forward” which is to be delivered by the State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Oyo Command, and to feature panel discussion from religious leaders, community and traditional leaders, youth groups, including legal perspective.

The program has been scheduled to have Hon. Akeem Ige, Chairman Oyo State Local Government Pension Board as the Chairman of the day; Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Commissioner for Youth and Sports as the Chairperson,; Olori Adebimpe as the Mother of the day, including other notable personalities as Special Guests of Honor.

The program will commence by 12noon at the Asiwaju Bode Amao Hall, Ibadan House.

2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival kicks off this Friday


Chairman, 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee,Balogun Abdulgafar Ojetola has announced the commencement of this year Ibadan Week.


Balogun Ojetola in a statement in Ibadan said “the planning committee has considered it necessary to go ahead with some of the events which had been scheduled to hold in April before the unfortunate demise of late Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland”.


It would be recalled that the Committee shifted the programs of the 2024 Ibadan Week indefinitely after the demise of the late Olubadan. The event ought to have been held between April 14th and 20th.


According to Balogun Ojetola,” this time around, we are going to have staggered events which will kick off on Friday, May 31st with Talent hunts and Orekelewa brain and beauty pageant competition at Bode Amao hall,Ibadan house, Oke Aremo, Ibadan. This decision was arrived at after due consultation and approval of the Executives of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII.
The program is expected to be declared open by the Chairperson of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, Chief Mrs Dotun Olaitan.
Other eminent personalities expected to grace the occasion include a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Stanley Adedeji Odidiomo, Ibadan North West/ South West Federal Constituency, Dr Oladeji Salami a.k.a Dikko, the Chairman, Pacesetter Transport Services among others
Other events to follow include Ibadan All Youth Day Symposium, Table Tennis and Ayo Olopan competitions on June 4,2024, Ibadan Conference, Stage Play and Golf Competition on June 14,2024.

CCII Visits Omoola Travels & Tours, To Be Decorated As Ambassador of Ibadan Culture

The Central Planning Committee of the 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival Week Chairman; Balogun Gaphar Ojetola, The Chairperson of Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Sub-committee; Chief Mrs Temitope Afolake Awotunde and a powerful member of the Committee; Mr Animasahun Abdulhameed on Monday, 27th May 2024 paid a working visit to the Chairman/CEO of Omoola Travels and Tour; Alhaji Kazeem Olaniyan, as part of the activities of the 2024 Cultural Festival and a follow up to the earlier visitation paid to him by the Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Sub-committee.

During the visit, he redeemed his pledge of N1m he early promised to support the Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Sub-committee by presenting the cheque to the Chairman of 2024 Cultural Festival Week, Balogun Gaphar Ojetola.
Furthermore, the Chairman, informed him of the decision of the CCII to honour him with the title of the Ambassador of Ibadan Culture, in recognition of his contribution to the economy of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.
Alhaji Kazeem Olaniyan accepted the honor and promised to continue to do more for Ibadanland.
His decoration will take place on Friday, 31st May 2024 during the finals of Orekelewa Brain and Beauty Pageant Competition at the Bode Amao Hall.
