They were arrested on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, following intelligence on their alleged cyber fraudulent activities.
Items recovered from the suspects include seven exotic cars, several mobile phones, laptops, playing station video games, apple wrist watches and charms.
They have given useful information and will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.

The Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) has awarded a contract with N1.1Billion for the construction of a 250-seater Virtual Examination Centre at Ladoke Akintola University,Ogbomoso,Iseyin Campus.
This is as the organisation is preparing to commission the N1billion IT hub it constructed at the University of Ibadan,Ibadan before the end of May,2023.
The information containing the award of the contract for the construction of the 250-seater virtual examination centre was contained in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH by the NCC signalling of the process of commencement of the construction.
The features of the Virtual Examination Centre to be constructed are:

The construction is to be completed between six and nine months.
The hearing of a murder case leveled against the owner of Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, Rahmon Adedoyin, who was charged to court for the alleged killing of a masters’ student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Timothy Adegoke, resumes today.
Adedoyin with six of his staff: Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola were standing trial on 18 count of conspiracy, murder, felony, indecent interference of the corpse, alteration and cancellation of receipt and oath-taking to prevent justice.
Meanwhile, the hearing was stalled due to the disagreement between the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana SAN and the DEFENCE Counsel, Yusuf Alli over the legitimacy of the prosecuting counsel to participate in the case.
Arguing on Thursday, counsel to Adedoyin, Yusuf Alli countered Falana by challenging his locus to prosecute the case, noting that it is not in agreement with the law and the fiat granted to him to prosecute Adedoyin and other staff was not properly obtained. He prayed the court to prohibit Falana from participating in the case as prosecutor.
Falana stated he was properly introduced by the counsel from the Osun State Ministry of Justice to take over the matter as prosecutor and no law compulsory it for him to produce the fiat granted to him by the ministry to prosecute the matter before the court. He urge the court to dismiss the prayer of the defense counsel else if their prayer is granted, it may set the trial back.
Justice Ojo pronounced that judgment on arguments on fiat, she said judgment will be delivered alongside the final judgement of the case. The judged thereafter adjourned the case on the basis of the need for an adoption of final written addresses from the prosecution and defense counsel.
The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 26, 2023, arraigned the trio of Adekunle Akinsinde Alabi, Bakare Taofeek Ajibola and Olawepo Segun Ayinde on a four- count charge bordering on dealing in counterfeit currency and possession of counterfeit currency to the tune of $290,000 (Two Hundred and Ninety Thousand USD) before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.
They pleaded “not guilty” to the charge preferred against.
In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, G.C Akaogu, asked the court for a trial date and also prayed that the defendants be remanded.
The defence counsel, I. Chiaha, however, prayed the court for the defendants to remain in the EFCC custody.
Justice Oweibo adjourned to June 26, 2023 for trial and ordered that the defendants remain in the EFCC custody for two weeks and thereafter be placed in prison custody.
The defendants were arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in the Oniru area of Lagos on January 19, 2023, following an intelligence report received about their involvement in the alleged criminal activities.
They were subsequently handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and prosecution.
The Labour Party, LP, has raised the alarm alleging that the self-acclaimed chairman of the party, Lamidi Apapa, has approached the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, asking it to dismiss all the cases filed by the party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, LP urged the tribunal to disregard the “antics” by Apapa, saying they are out to destroy the party and satisfy their alleged paymasters.
“We are by this statement informing all arms of the Judiciary, including the tribunals and courts to ignore the ignoble antics of these compromised suspended members of the party. We are also calling on the police, DSS and EFCC to arrest these enemies of democracy.
Oyo State Government has sought the support and collaboration of the Energy Commission of Nigeria in a bid to improve on power generation and supply in the state.
The Director Genreal, Oyo state Liaison Office in Abuja and Lagos, Hon. Wale Ajani who spoke on behalf of the state government at a courtesy visit to the commission in Abuja on April 11 disclosed that the visit was key and strategic to the Governor Seyi Makinde’s Omituntun 2.0 agenda.
The Director Genreal of the Energy Commission, Eli Jidere Bala, who personally received Ajani commended Makinde for assigning such strategic role to a young, vibrant and energetic individual with passion for the development of the state assuring that with a good working relationship with oyo state being one of the most populous states, the energy commission would make a budgetary allocation for sustainable energy for the state in the next year’s budget of the Commission.
Speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, during his brief Salah holiday, Ajani who maintained that the federal commission must as a matter of necessity, partner with Oyo state in the area of Energy and power especially alternative energy and stressed that the state governor has laid the foundation for Oyo as a producing state with high prospects in manufacturing and industrialization.
Ajani noted that, with the magnitude of physical infrastructural development already in place and still ongoing, Oyo state has strategically positioned itself to compete favorably with other neighboring states with high level of manufacturing activities and industrialization such as Lagos and Ogun state.
Ajani explained that Makinde has already commenced the implementation of what he called green energy and sustainable power generation to meet the demands of consumers; both domestic and industrial consumption adding that such federal commission partnering with Oyo state would accelerate the process of achieving the desired goal in the sector.
While stressing the readiness of the state to fully key into the energy programmes of the federal Commission, he emphasized that such strategic collaboration would culminate into attaining the sustainable power generation and supply that would in turn reduce the pressure on national grid.
Ajani however, disclosed that he solicited for an annual consideration of oyo state in all the programmes of the energy commission and other job opportunities the commission may be providing Nigerians in order to also adequately capture oyo state indigenes in the Commission’s recruitment exercises.
“The essence of my visit to the Commission was to explore all available avenues and opportunities to attract the Commission’s presence to the state because power generation and supply have been two important items on Governor Seyi Makinde’s agenda and you could all see that the importance attached to these two items gave birth to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
“So, as we begin to prepare ahead for Omituntun 2.0 under the Accelerated Development Agenda, we must begin to seriously consolidate on the gains of Omituntun 1.0 under the Governor’s Sustainable Development Agenda so that the future does not catch us off guard, we are ready for it.
“We already have the buy-in and assurances of the Energy Commission through the DG, my very good brother, who has expressed readiness of the commission to also collaborate with Oyo state in all possible ways. Very soon you will see more come out of that very important meeting but for now, let’s keep working.” Ajani said.
Ajani told journalists that the Energy Commission DG, Eli Jidere Bala, has assured that whatever any Government wants to achieve required energy and with Governor Makinde being an energy person, the commission would do everything possible to support the State.
According to Ajani, the Director-General also affirmed that the energy commission had been a friend of oyo state as the commission had been doing alot in the state such as mini grids, constituency projects of most of the National Assembly members from oyo state in Lagelu, iyana offa etc.
He however, admonished Hon. Wale Ajani to synergize more with the National Assembly members from oyo state to harness more sustainable energy projects in their subsequent constituency projects in order to benefit more from the Commission.
Ajani also disclosed that the DG, Energy Commission Director-General afterwards, summoned the Procurement Director and Director of Budget Monitoring and Evaluation to give every needed support to Oyo state in any ongoing and subsequent sustainable energy projects of the Commission.
Tension brewed on Tuesday morning at Moniya Axis of Ibadan as suspected internet fraudsters “Yahoo Boy” clashed with Police officers stationed along Kings College Moniya.
It was learnt that the Police Officers who were stationed along Moniya axis were on “search and stop” mission. In the course of their work, a car belonging to a suspected ‘Yahoo Boy’ was stopped which led to heated argument between them.
An eyewitness who spoke under the condition of anonymity said, “one of the Police officers pulled the trigger and shot directly at the tyre of the suspected Yahoo Boy’s car and in return a bullet from nowhere suddenly hit the Police. This led to the other Police officers to reinforce and started shooting sporadically”.
A resident identified as Iya Ibeji who also spoke to ODUDUWA NEWS disclosed that the incident is true. She said people are currently advised to stay behind at their various homes because of the fear of unknown due to the recent incident.
As at the time of filing this report, it could not be ascertained whether the Police Officer is dead or alive.
The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested an ex-convict for stealing.
The suspect is 21-year-old Timothy Sonyegbe, a vulcanizer by profession, who allegedly stole a motorcycle, also known as Okada, around Abule Teacher in Ipokia Local Government Area.
In a statement by So-Safe spokesperson Moruf Yusuf, Commander Soji Ganzallo noted that Sonyegbe resides in the Ijofin area.
The suspect, already placed on surveillance after he served a jail term twice, was seen riding a motorcycle during an odd hour of the night.
A team of officers on a routine patrol, led by CSC Abdulkareem Abdulrazaq, the Idiroko Divisional Officer, stopped Sonyegbe.
Though the rider made a U-turn in an attempt to escape, the suspect was chased, apprehended and taken into custody.
“The suspect is a two term ex-convict who served at Ilaro Correctional Centre for fuel and motorcycle theft,” Ganzallo noted.
During preliminary interrogation, he confessed that the motorbike – a Boxer Bajaj with engine number DXWLB46095 – was stolen.
So-Safe Corps also recovered two phones from Sonyegbe, who has been handed over to the Police Divisional Headquarters in Ipokia.
A widower, Ariyibi Ahmed Olaseinde and a divorcee, Akanbi Silifat Tunrayo who were going for lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia have been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos for attempting to export 14.4 kilograms of cocaine concealed in lace and ankara fabrics.
Ariyibi was intercepted on Thursday 20th April at the screening point of MMIA Terminal 2 during outward clearance of Qatar Airways passengers travelling from Lagos via Doha to Medina, Saudi Arabia. When his carry-on bag was checked, four sets of white lace material with linings of substance that tested positive to Cocaine weighing 11.50kg were discovered.
The suspect who claimed to be a widower and an advertising practitioner said his original plan was to ingest the drugs but had to change his mind after failed attempts to swallow bitter cola, which he was using to practice the process. He is expected to be paid One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,800,000) upon successful delivery of the consignment in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
The previous day, Wednesday 19th April, NDLEA officers at the Terminal 2 of the airport also arrested Mrs. Silifat Tunrayo Akanbi with 2.90kg cocaine during outward clearance of Qatar Airways passengers from Lagos via Doha to Jedda, Saudi Arabia. A search of her hand luggage led to the discovery of six sheets of cocaine weighing 2.90kg concealed in ankara fabrics.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a divorcee and a trader who used to hawk cloths around Awoyaya area of Ajah, Lagos. Based on information in her statement, a follow up operation that lasted through the night into the early hours of Thursday 20th April was carried out, during which the person who recruited her, Alhaji Adebayo Adeola Wasiu was arrested at No 28, Olateju Street, Mushin, Lagos. Adebayo is the managing director of B&T Travel Agency.
In the same vein, NDLEA officers attached to courier companies have intercepted two drug consignments consisting of ecstasy and skunk going to United Arab Emirate. While the pills of ecstasy were concealed in a gold colour wedding gown, the skunk was hidden in a micro controller.
This is even as a 400-level Marine Engineering student at the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa state, Kelvin Ogenedoro has been arrested for dealing in 600grams of skunk. He was nabbed at the universitys gate in a follow up operation following the interception of the consignment in a commercial bus along Tombia-Amassoma road.
In Adamawa state, a notorious drug dealer, Sunday Ishaku Emzor (aka Lalas) who was convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in 2010 for drug offences, was on Thursday 20th April arrested for drug dealing. He was arrested at Hayin Gada, Imburu Numan LGA where he went to supply 1.650kg cannabis to an undercover operative. His Yellow Press Cub motorcycle used for supplying illicit drugs and a cash of N78,120 suspected to be proceed of the illegal business were recovered from him at the point of arrest.
On the same day in Kaduna, operatives acting on credible intelligence intercepted a truck conveying 110 bags and 200 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 1.223 tons (1,223kg) in Zaria while the truck driver, Adekunle Olanrewaju, 32, and his assistant, Tunde Jamiu, 20, were arrested.
In Edo State, a 42-year-old cripple, Lucky Aigberenmolen trading in illicit drugs on his wheelchair was arrested in a raid of drug joints in parts of the state. While Lucky was nabbed at Ekpoma, Esan West LGA with 1.3kg of Cannabis Sativa and 10 litres of Monkey Tail, another suspect, Mary David,46, was arrested at Ugbegun, Esan Central LGA with four litres of Monkey Tail and Osagiede Stephanie, 19, at Ekpoma, with various quantities of Colorado, Methamphetamine, and Molly. A 50kg cannabis stored in a bush ready for distribution was also recovered in Irrua area of the state.
While two suspects: Adeshina Olalekan and Christopher Joel, were arrested at Lektop hotel, Igbeba, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, with 39 litres of Skuchies, as well as various quantities of tramadol, and rophynol, operatives in Imo State intercepted a female suspect, Ijeoma Anyiam Loreza, 40, at Orogwe, Owerri North with 70 blocks of Cannabis Sativa weighing 30kg.
A notorious drug dealer in Okitipupa area of Ondo state, Mathew Obateru, 42, has also been taken into custody after different quantities of Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Colorado and Loud were recovered from him. In Taraba, a suspect, Mohammed Usman was arrested on Monday 17th April in connection with the seizure of 10,009 pills of tramadol.
While commending the officers and men of the MMIA, Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, DOGI, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Kaduna, Edo, Ogun, Imo, Ondo and Taraba Commands of the Agency for the excellent job done in the past week, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) charged them and their compatriots across the country to continue to raise the bar of professionalism in the daily discharge of their responsibilities.
