Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on have arrested thirty-seven (37) suspected internet fraudsters in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The suspects are Ibrahim Adewale Adegoke, Echeta Chidi Oluwabe, Adeyinka Oladaide Monsuru, Adedeji Mojeed Adewusi, Uzuh Samuel Friday, Ibrahim Aliu Olaide, Babatunde Ayomide Yinus, Rahaman Idris, Adeniji Eniade Ebelizer, Segun Bamidele, Ifemade Haruna, Adeyinka Kola Michael, Adewusi Taiwo Femi, Oyewo Ayomide Solomon, Adebayo Okikioluwa Adeoye, Abiodun Olamijulo Kayode, Collin Ayomide Oyelakin, Babatunde Oluwasegun and Mathew Emmanuel Ogina.
Others include Echeta Chinedu Junior, Babatunde Abdulmajeed, Badejo Adefemi Emmanuel, Musa Ayinde Olorunisola, Olumoroti Ayobami Segun, Adebayo Isiaka Olajide, Omobolaji Abiola Quwam, Ademola Qodir Alabi, Akinbode Adedolapo Joshua, Evwiekpoamare Tivere Jackson, Oparinde Sheriff Funso, Olatunbosun Stephen, Samuel Ayodeji Mayokun, Wemimo Adebare Sodiq, Oluwole David Dare, Segun Ajewole Abraham, Ajayi Elijah Oladimeji and Gbadegesin Nurudeen Opeyemi.
They were arrested at Ologolo Estate and Omi-ado areas of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Items recovered from the suspects include seven exotic cars, one motorcycle, several mobile phones and laptops, among others.
They will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, is currently delivering his final speech as the Speaker of the House.
Mr Gbajabiamila is delivering the speech at the ongoing valedictory session of the 9th House.
Former speaker, Ghali Na’Abbas and Patricia Etteh are in attendance at the chamber for the valedictory session.
Mr Gbajabiamila, in his speech, commended the lawmakers for their efforts in the last four years, which include passage of important legislations like PIA, Electoral Act and others.
He expressed regret with the inability of the 9th House to pass several women related bills that the House rejected in 2022.
Mr Gbajabiamila urged the next administration to take on the mantle of passing gender bills in the House.
It would be recalled that Gbajabiamila was appointed as the Chief Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Senator George Akume as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Wednesday.
Akume took his Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office in the presence of government officials at the council chamber.

I was on a tricycle on Sunday going to my usual pun in my hometown, Iseyin when one of the other two passengers was dragging the issue of change from the driver. The driver insisted on collecting #200 for a journey he used to collect #100 for before the May 29th Presidential Inauguration ceremony announcement and the woman would not have any of that. I had to wade in to pay the balance, because it was already becoming a dangerous scene in which the woman was clutching the handle of the tricycle alongside the driver, even while we were on motion. That is one situation that Nigerians have found themselves in since the new government heralded a new price regime of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

The new government should have gone ahead with the subsidy removal approach without adding more burden to the already impoverished Nigerians by not playing to the gallery, which the announcement by the new President actually was. If I were PBAT, I would have just omitted that particular line in my speech, wait till after inauguration and call all the stakeholders in the oil industry, labour unions, Governors’ Forum among others to an emergency meeting where the issue of palliatives or cushioning effects of the removal would be discussed and on the second day, the announcement on the cushioning approaches and not bland recourse to what has been discussed before Buhari’s exit in the form of inauguration announcement, which if carefully looked at, has caused many people so much troubles till date.

Imagine the International Breweries Ltd. (IBL), shortchanging their customers by tampering with the composition of the once-upon-a-time darling beer of mine, which now makes it taste like burnt sugar. Why did I even forget that bodies like Consumer Protection Right bodies have become a department in these major companies, where those that are supposed to be fighting for the welfare of consumers are being treated like partners-in-crime by the companies.
Late last year, the International Breweries introduced the once-forgotten Eagle Lager Beer and since I encountered it at a party through a brother that realized that I was no more happy with Trophy Lager Beer, I thought I have seen the saviour. The taste of Eagle is like that of the beer of old, adoring bitterness that leaves an aftertaste coolness down the throat. But wait, before you can say ‘give me another chilled bottle’, this wicked company has started playing games with us drinkers of cheap beer.
Eagle Lager Beer is predominantly sold at Iseyin, Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State, but since my people have rebelled against the chicanery noticed in the production and taste of Trophy Lager Beer, it has become another dear brewed content they could not do away with, one because it is cheaper, compared to drinks from the stable of Nigerian Breweries, that are as costly as two litters of petroleum and the fact that two bottles are enough to give you a restful night.
Trouble started recently when the IBL started making this particular product scarce and its price rising. My mates with incomes that can only afford cheap beer like Eagle have been looking up to God, not Jesus, because the latter only turned water to wine and not beer. No government to fight for us, no human right body or regulatory agency that will fight our cause.
My resolution is that if IBL is intentionally forcing Trophy Lager Beer on me by hoarding and dropping production quantities of Eagle Lager Beer, I may be forced to kukuma stop drinking before December this year. Lobatan!

The Federal Government of Nigeria has charged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State during the 2023 elections, Oladipupo Adebutu, for allegedly buying votes during the 18 March elections in the state.
In a suit brought by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice before an Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta, nine other persons associated with the PDP were also charged.
In a separate suit it filed at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta, the government also charged Zenith Bank and two of its top officials for allegedly aiding Mr Adebutu to commit the alleged offence.
The two suits were filed on Thursday, 2 June, by the Director , Public Prosecution of the Federation , M. B. Abubakar; Aderonke Imana, an assistant chief state counsel, and Sani Bagudu, a senior counsel at the Department of Public Prosecution of the Federation, on behalf of the AGF and Minister of Justice.
Charged alongside Mr Adebutu before the state high court in Abeokuta are Ogunbona Hammed, Tiamiyu Waliu, Egunsola Owolabi and Sanni Adejoke.
The other defendants are Dare Ogunleye, Dare Adeoye, Dayo Fashina, Wasiu Enololobo, and Malik Akawo.
According to the notice filed by the prosecution, Mr Adebutu and four of the other defendants are currently at large.
The University of Lagos on Tuesday morning confirmed the killing of a 200-level student of the Department of Metallurgical and Material Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Adekunle Agboola, who was shot outside the University premises on Saturday while trying to retrieve his mate’s phone from robbers.
In a condolence message to the bereaved signed by the UNILAG Principal Assistant Registrar, Communication Unit, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, the institution expressed sadness over the incident, stating that the police are investigating the case.
The release read, “It was with heavy heart, that the Management of the University of Lagos, received the sad news of the death of Mr Al Ameen Adekunle Agboola, a 200-level student of the Department of Metallurgical and Material Engineering, Faculty of Engineering who died outside the University premises on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
“The unfortunate incident surrounding his death is being investigated by the Nigerian Police Force, with the full cooperation of the University.
“The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, on behalf of the entire University community, commiserates with the family of Mr Agboola, and prays that God grants the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. VOA News had reported on Tuesday that the deceased and his colleague identified simply as Opeyemi boarded a shuttle bus from Yaba to UNILAG and while in the vehicle, a man, who was hanging at the back of the bus, dispossessed Opeyemi of her iPhone 7 plus.
Aggrieved by the development, Opeyemi raised the alarm and Adekunle, in a desperate attempt to retrieve the phone from the robber who jumped down from the bus and fled, chased after him.
Upon observing that Adekunle was closing in on the suspect, it was learnt that one of the hoodlums suspected to be working with the fleeing suspect came out of nowhere and shot the 23-year-old.
Nolywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has publicly criticized Governor Sanwo Olu and the entire Lagos state government for the exorbitant tax bill sent to her.
Iyabo Ojo took to her Instagram page to share photos of the bill and expressed her dismay, saying, “@jidesanwoolu @lagosstategovt, how do you come up with these outrageous personal income taxes that you send on a daily basis? After paying various taxes for my businesses, house, and more, you still present me with this enormous amount and give me a mere 7 days to pay up. It’s quite amusing.”
She further highlighted her previous encounter with the government “Last time, you asked me to come to your office, explain my earnings, and declare them, which I did. But disappointingly, you didn’t respond to my letter. Instead, you expect me to pay an exorbitant sum that I simply do not possess. Should I resort to stealing? I ask again, how do you come up with such outrageous bills?”
Expressing her dissatisfaction, Iyabo Ojo emphasized that the government has not offered her any support or assistance, despite her self-reliance in raising her children and others. She stated, “What have you ever done for me as a government? Absolutely nothing! I have single-handedly provided for my children, many others, and myself without any form of assistance from the government. Yet, you feel entitled to harvest over 100% from where you haven’t sown.”
In her impassioned message, Iyabo Ojo pointed out the challenges of surviving in the country without government support, while the authorities continuously generate unreasonable bills.
She concluded, “Nothing seems to be functioning properly in this country, yet you insist on taking from where you haven’t contributed. So, if you insist, go ahead and shut down my business, arrest me, imprison me, or even take my life. We will all d!e someday, and I will never fear the inevitable. I cannot give what I do not possess.”
Lagos state government has told Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo to pay a total sum of N18,640,092.00 as personal income tax within seven days.
According to Lagos government, Iyabo Ojo has a tax liability of N7,376,000.00 for the year 2022 and an outstanding liability of N11,264,092 for 2021 income year.
The actress was given a 7-days ultimatum to pay up or face consequences.
Responding to the letter, Iyabo Ojo faulted the process at which the tax amount was reached.
On Monday, Justice Olufunke Anuwe issued a restraining order barring the NLC and all of its affiliates from continuing the strike scheduled to begin on June 7 until the hearing and resolution of the main lawsuit.
The court also mandated that the NLC be served with the initial summons and motion on notice prior to the next adjourned date of June 19.
The court’s directives came as a result of an ex parte application by the federation’s attorney general’s office and minister of justice to halt the strike.
